Death = loss of all cargo?

You know what, that happened to me today!

Just a few thousand kilometers from the dock with a fully loaded Type 6 and I got attacked by a Cobra

I was VERY VERY worried and I've never been so pleased to see a frameshift countdown end!
FEEL the immersion! :)

That will be interesting!

But then again, if you have 100 tons of cargo, ejecting 5 tonnes of it, and running? Won't be too expensive a loss surely?

But if players interdict and blow you up purely for the sake of it?

Such is life ..Anything can happen out there ... Be safe people!

Anything could happen, you could also try ransom them, while you hope to get some buddies into where you are, and thus turn the tables, lol.

again risk and reward, never fly a ship, you can't afford to lose, and never fly some cargo you can't live without.

I'm a "carebear" from EvE, and i can firmly say, i have learnt my lessons in when to takes chances, and when it's too stupid to try, but the games are different, so again, by then a big type 9 or Anaconda, could have some nasty tricks in their sleeves to ambush, ambushers, lol. When the game is fully released ect.

i certainly hope there will be means to make bait ships, to grab nifty bounties, instead too. xD

Maybe someone with a lot of in-game cash can start an insurance service.

Not sure they thought of Loan Sharks, when going for that player co-op philosophy! ;)

I guess you tactically should do less profitable runs, in a perfect world without greed. Yeah. Sounds great on paper. :D

Maybe there will be cargo insurance coming but it would expect it to be very expensive.

oh please god no...

When you die and you buy back your ship, it's not the same ship, that one was destroyed along with everything in it (including you). You are buying the same loadout again, not the exact same ship!

It still doesn't sit right with me that all of the risk is on the Trader, the pirate risks next to nothing, they get either their previous load out back or a free sidewinder from a bad encounter but the trader also has to deal with the loss of X thousand credits.
I don't like the insurance idea but piracy needs a bit of a think as the current easy option. Maybe some sort of much harsher insurance costs for highly wanted figures.

If you are transporting the slaves, they die with you, and are transformed into fertilizer. You will be able to keep the fertilizer

:p

Currently no one gets the previous load out back due to bugs. And the pirates need to pay insurance too. If he hasn't made enough...

Granted let's say both players ships are destroyed due to a freak ramming in the encounter, the pirate just pays their insurance and they have lost nothing else. If the trader is in the same ship type they'll pay the same amount of insurance but also be down for all of their cargo.
I don't want insurance for cargo but the risks have to be balanced.

If it's too big a risk carrying that much, and you don't want to take the risk, just carry half the load. You'll halve your profit on that run, but if you die, you'll still have half the credits.

That said! Has anyone been blown up yet by NPCs while on a cargo run?

Seems too easy to outrun them?!

Now when humans can do this?

I got interdicted in a hauler once and could not get away, swines !!

Really?

The moment I get interdicted I set off at full speed. Full energy to engines and what's left to systems. Get jumping ASAP.

Even if the AI has fast ships (eg: Cobra) they don't seem to catch me?
