General / Off-Topic Let us try again shall we?

I dont get the 'political correctness' complaint. This has nothing to do with political correctness, it has to do with a corporate entity estimating that more people approve of them being gone than others disapprove. They dont care what is 'politically correct', they care about what they think is most profitable.

The most vocal groups are not necessarily the most numerous.
Not sure I agree with that hair splitting.

True. But we are talking about a massive commercial enterprise. Lets not pretend they are a bunch of amateurs and local supermarket managers who decided upon this because they received a handful of angry handwritten letters. Their marketing team has analyzed their options, and considered this most profitable route towards the future. This reflective 'if I dont agree with it it must be a vocal minority and political correctness' vibe that lingers around such issues is a bit silly. All IMHO of course.

I disagree; I believe the Liberty Media is just jumping on another 'what is popular' band-wagon. They are tiring to squeeze every once of attention towards their investment. The ladies obviously have an interest in F1, as most of the drivers are male gods and so they will get the attention from females; even though is could be considered a sport, that males would be more interested in. Liberty Media is just doing the sheep thing, following the Darts etc. example.

It is sad, in my opinion.

They are an commercial organisation. It is their responsibility to jump on every available bandwagon that gets them more money. Your post actually agrees with what I said, you just think it is sad that this is popular. Which is a fair opinion, but not an opinion LM is gonna care much about. It is a bit like complaining Universal pushed Justin Bieber 'just because he was popular', and not because of his artistic merits. While true, it is a bit of an odd complaint considering Universal solely exist to push popular stuff in exchange for money.

The complaints are coming from middle-aged white men, possibly the group least affected by this decision on the entire planet, unless you include that orca that learned to talk funny.

When middle-aged white men complain about injustice, they're just being social justice warriors. And snowflakes.

In all seriousness though, have none of you got anything more important to complain about?

Yes; we May have, but not anything we can discuss here. :(

Sure, I think it's pretty clear they just happen to be one and the same in this case.

What the workers have to say. Sorry that has a 'political tone' to it. Lets try, people being paid, to look good and what they have to say about what is going on.

Now where have I read similar thoughts before?

This is not about politics, it is about perceived sexism.

I sat and thought of an answer, but I cant word it right in me head without the fear of incurring the wrath of the forum cops...this world makes me sad sometimes...its losing its sense of humour. Feels like yer walking on eggshells with people because even when ye do treat everyone equally, ye still get accused of being not nice.

Case in point...yer out on a date and while no talk of settling the bill was discussed...its hardly a cool icebreaker to start a date with...ye still get 'that look' when ye throw just yer half of the bill. And so the logic is now...yer a sexist male pig and not a gentleman...pause and think about that.

So as Im expected to pay as a gentleman, can I then say I feel offended by the notion that I have to live by that stereotype? I think its sexist againt guys like me who are tired of pretending to be nice all these years.

Thats why I feel sorry fer my daughters generation...the entire argument is a rabbit hole in wonderland type argument, it will never end and this disease will only spread. Equality might not turn out to be what a lotta people seem to think it is...a double edged sword ^

TELLING them they cannot do this or that is worse that the sexism it is supposed to be stopping, because removing the choice implies that the women are intellectually challenged and incapable of making any decision for themselves.

this isn't about not letting them. they can still pursue their 'careers', just not at a f1 grand prix since the fia's pr gurus have determined they are not a good investment anymore. no demand, simple as that. nothing personal, babe!

otoh fia will not be the only ones, for sure. meaning those girls' job market will likely only spiral downwards in glamour ... and work conditions. i don't think their current conditions are any good to start with, so maybe it's a good moment to think about doing something else.

about the sexism and pc thing. yes, it's mostly hysteria but yes, the problem is real. we are just not equitable societies and as such will need to go through much such idiocy until we finally manage to educate ourselves.

Thank the Lord I dont have to deal with that. If she is a modern emancipated lady and holds a steady job she can pay her half. Also takes care of any quid pro quo vibes. If you clearly earn more, or she is of a more conservative inclination and doesnt clearly earn more than you, you discreetly take care of the bill and dont mention it. If she's okay with it, she wont bring it up. If she insists on paying her half, you let her.

Jesus, when did things get so complicated and political? I'm of the school where you hold the door for a woman, pull out her chair and by God get the bill on a date regardless of who earns what. I also say Ma'am and Miss, depending on age, with few exceptions. A man is a man, and a woman is a woman, and I have no interest in going on a date with a woman who doesn't know who she is, what she wants, or has any doubt about my own manhood. If that's a problem for them, time to move on. In which case, they can go change their own tire on the side of the road.

It is neither complicated nor 'political'. As a rule of thumb: women are human beings like you. They have jobs, they are not dependent on you, they can pay their own bills and see it as a symbol of independence. Would you feel comfortable if a woman insists on paying the bill every time? No? Well, that is how they feel too. Kinda make sense, if you think about it. It has nothing to do with 'doubting your manhood', and quite clearly they know who they are and what they want: independent human beings who dont need handouts from others. And trust me, if 'that is a problem', then the 'time to move on' feeling tends to be mutual.

This may be a cultural, generational, regional or whatever thing, not too sure. It doesnt matter, as long as you date the people who have the same expectations, its all good. :)

Ha Ha Ha! As a rule of thumb; women don't have a clue what they want. Well they know what they want now, but that can change on 30 seconds. As a rule of thumb: Women always know what they DON'T want.

There are many many facets to human beings, they are all different and generalising about them, is a big mistake.

Feminists by definition do not know what they want. Without exception they are confused, conflicted, and unhappy. And their primary contribution to the world at this point is to spread those qualities to as many people as they can, while at the same time doing their best to systematically ruin the very concept of manhood.

Extreme feminists, maybe; but not all. Without those labelled as such, women would not have the rights they have today.

I am pretty sure you are confused about the definition. Let me help:
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/feminism

1 : the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes2 : organized activity on behalf of women's rights and interests

Its a simple notion, a clearly moral notion, and the feminists I know (which tends to be pretty much all women I meet) are not at all confused, conflicted or unhappy. They tend to be independent, confident, happy productive members of society. I am confused as to why people feel so threatened by it. Or why one's manhood is ruined by women being able to pay for their own food.

'extreme feminists' arent feminists. I know those fringe movements, but anything other than 'social, political and economic equality' isn't feminism. As soon as those elements start with 'all men are sexist chauvenist pigs' etc they arent feminists, they are sexist. The late & great Richard Feynman wrote a lovely piece about it, back in the days.

Feminism is a simple concept: people should be judged by their individual qualities, not their genitalia.

Sorry Sleutelbos, it really sounds like you've been brainwashed:)
