I love the game but FD ignoring 95% of folks and caving to 1% makes me want to walk away.

This is my main breakpoint on these types of threads, at the point of "hrm, don't see much gameplay here" on any given topic.

There is a distinct vibe seen from a selection of posters which usually boils down to "welp since there's not much gameplay here anyway, lets just simply increase the rate at which we consume this lack of gameplay, or else just shortcut this loop entirely". This concept does nothing to improve the game, but it does increase the speed of consumption of what does exist. Rather, we should be looking at ideas like this post, that actually has some gameplay ideas to fill in the game with more game.

That's just nonsense, as is the post you quoted.

There's plenty to see and do while exploring.
It's not the game's fault if you choose to ignore it by constantly honk-scoop-jumping.

"Hey, I'm not interested in all the stuff that IS there so change the game and then provide me with some other stuff which I am interested in doing"

Did you actually read the posts or did you go straight to Dismissive Snark? There has always been a subset of players who want to increase the rate of consumption without adding new gameplay. I don't agree with their methodology but I can't tell someone they're having fun if they're not.

I'm not sure how you have a problem with actually adding more gameplay, which was the aim of my post. I never said I personally find the game boring but everyone would enjoy more game in the game.

Are you annoyed at the travel requirement to unlock Palin, or something?

No, I'm annoyed at exactly what I posted, in detail, multiple times, that I'm annoyed about. And consider yourself plonked since twice now you've proven yourself incapable of reading english when you disagree with it.

What I have a problem with is the basis for asserting that more gameplay is required.

It's like inspecting a new iPhone and classifying it as junk because it can't open beer bottles or light cigarettes.

I know what is annoying you. I was asking why.

I'm right, aren't I?
You're annoyed at having to travel to unlock Palin.

You can light cigarettes with an iPhone. It will void your warranty though, and might need a new battery too.

What are you even on about man? There is a literal galaxy out there with room enough phsyically and gameplay-wise to add endless types of enjoyment on top of what we have now, and room to deepen the existing gameplay on many levels. It's not even about need, really (well it actually is in some cases), generally it's about improving and expanding the gameplay because it's possible so that Pretend Spaceman is the most fun for the most players.

Just because I can enjoy the current iteration of the game doesn't mean there isn't room to grow as well. It's not a binary state. Wanting more gameplay isn't about hatred of any given game iteration. It's about maximizing the potential of the framework for the best game possible. You know, like FD is actually working on all this year.

There is one possible solution for those who only want to travel a long distance: Have yourself shipped as cargo. Wait out the realtime counter by doing something else. Remember ship transfer? :)

I'll direct your own question back at you; did YOU read the post you're currently defending?

It's not a request for new, interesting gameplay.
It's a request for an "easy mode", by somebody who apparently doesn't enjoy doing any of the things the can already do in between each hyperspace jump.
In which case, I'd be incredibly skeptical abut the introduction of any "mini-games" alleviating their dissatisfaction.

It's the same old crap wearing a different set of clothes.

I can't fly the ships I want.
I can't earn as many credits as I want.
I can't get the upgrades I want.
I can't get the missions I want.

I want the game changing to do everything the way I want it.

And I'm sick to bleedin' death of hearing it.

What a load of tosh! The developers clearly stated that they made an error in upping the FSD to achieve their desired improvement in jump range and so instead have reduced the mass of the ship to give them their desired increase in jump range whilst not making a mockery of "outjumping" designed-for-exploration ships.

There are designed-for-exploration ships? Really?
Which ones?

Adder? Nope.
Asp Explorer? Nope.
Diamondback Explorer? Nope.
Eagle? Close, but nope.
Hauler? Nope.
Sidewinder? Close, but nope.

"Designed for Exploration"... let's think about what this means, really means.

Let's start off with: What is most essential to Exploration?

A Discovery Scanner - you can't explore without one.
A Detailed Surface Scanner - if you want to earn as much as you can, and learn as much as you can, you really need one of these.

The best discovery scanner on the market is the Class 1 Advanced Discovery Scanner.
The best Detailed Surface Scanner is the Class 1 Detailed Surface Scanner.

Notice what these have in common? That's right, they're Class 1 modules.
They fit perfectly into a Class 1 Slot.

There are two of them.

None of the "-Explorer" ships have 2 Class 1 slots.
In fact, very few ships have any Class 1 Slots.

The Eagle has 2, and a tiny fuel tank and a tiny Frame Shift Drive.
The Sidewinder does too, and has the same limitations.

Now there are very likely to be a few other things an Explorer is going to want.

A Fuel Scoop - one just does not explore very far without a fuel scoop.

A Frame Shift Drive that goes further than a G5 Engineered Corvette. That's pretty much any ship.

An AFMU, because sometimes you get too close to a star, or maybe you cone-jump.

That's pretty much it there.

And yes, you can fit any and all of this into pretty much any ship. What do people take?

Anacondas. Why? So they can have a base jump of 60+ Ly because... well, I never have figured this one out. People want to jump and boost-jump out 1000 Ly at a time or more, in a big hurry to get where? Why?

I still happen to like the notion of a long-range hauling ship, and let's face it, no one's going to go "Oh s--t, there's a Type-7 after me!"

What I have a problem with is the basis for asserting that more gameplay is required.

It's like inspecting a new iPhone and classifying it as junk because it can't open beer bottles or light cigarettes.

It can open beer-bottles too, and if you're careful, you won't even scratch the surface.

Please not that I am a demented, toothless old poodle, so disregard anything I say. :)

I use the Rocket Raccoon method of exploring. Pre-engineers, I did it in a 22 light-year jump Adder.

Last night, I engineered, in beta, a 28 light year Sidewinder that was perfectly practical as an explorer. It would take you most places in the galaxy except those at Anaconda range.

I use my Asp Explorer, instead, now. It has what I need, for when I find something interesting. I can make it jump 48 light-years, with the new engineering. And, with the same build, it works inside the bubble as well. Trader, miner, mission runner- it can do it. If my Python could jump over 40 light years with it's full loadout, no other ship would be needed.

I change my game styles all the time. So, multi-role ships suit me.

The T7 Incident is an example of an error on Frontier's part. If anything, it needs to land on medium pads, not jump to Beagle. It's a trading ship. The T6 is actually *better* at being the explorer. It just needs two more guns.

The frothing frenzy is over "mission creep". Mission Creep is spelled Anaconda.

So many erotic dreams were dashed by having a ship that could be a coffin for the Anaconda. The fact that the T7 *is* a coffin probably helped. :(

We should be happy that nobody needs a long range trader or working space stations in the Pleiades. Because long jump-range is apparently only something exploration ships might need.
