Would you miss any of the modules that Ram Tah uniquely engineers as the cost of not doing it?
Guess it's google and burn through it in 2 hours if that's the case.
Would you miss any of the modules that Ram Tah uniquely engineers as the cost of not doing it?
I hope it doesn't go.
However. I do think it sucks.
But, would be amazing if it wasn't just a brute force process of elimination, and there was a means to figure it out, perhaps using lore, logic or ... Anything but brute force.
I agree. And I'm not knocking anyone for enjoying the Ram Tah mission. I tried it a couple of times (once using your guide - it still didn't make it enjoyable enough for me, personally).
It would be a waste if it disappeared. I just wouldn't miss it.![]()
Isn't that Palin?
Yes. I was comparing it to something that I found actually dreary and boring.
Well, I still haven't unlocked the one who wants 1M Fed Combat Bonds.
To me that is more dreary than a short jaunt out 5k LY and back.
And that's ok - encouraging you to at least try different things isn't a bad idea.
Maybe tying the requirements more closely to the type of upgrades would have been good though.
I'm not a huge combat buff, but a friend and I took an evening to get the combat bonds...one evening was all it took, maybe a couple hours. It was a bit frantic and fast paced, but it worked out in the end. If you go, I'd recommend not going with a big ship. Those seem to be ordinance-magnets.
And that's the point. None of these requirements taking much more than a few hours.
5k and back in maybe 2-3hrs.
Having made many, many, many trips out and back and compiled my own highly detailed spreadsheet and interactive checklist, I can say that the entirety of the Guardian Ruins can be completed in as little as five and a half hours, though it is an absolutely frantic pace to keep. But it's also fun trying to beat your best time too.

Ram Tah's Last Hurrah
08 FEB 3304
Ram Tah, the galaxy's foremost expert on the Guardians, has revealed that his research funding will soon end. In an effort to make the most of his remaining finances, the engineer has appealed to independent pilots to deliver Guardian artefacts to his base in the Meene system.
In a statement, Ram Tah said:
"Public interest in the Guardians may have waned, but I believe there is more to learn. Only through thorough investigation and analysis can we hope to fully understand the Guardians, their technology, and their relationships to other species. This knowledge could be of great importance to humanity."
The campaign has received a financial boost from Meene General Industries, which has promised to reward pilots who deliver artefacts from Guardian sites to Felice Dock in the Meene system.
The campaign begins on the 8th of February 3304 and will run for one week. If the final target is met earlier than planned, the campaign will end immediately.

I hope this doesn't mean what I'm inferring here - but I have to ask... does this signal the end of Ram Tah's Guardian Ruins missions? This has long been the single, most enjoyable mission in Elite, delightfully complex, and something with considerable time both on the Development side as well as on the player base side. I shudder to think of the number of man-hours the Cannon group put into this - maps and tables, and charts and data, not to mention all the time spent simply tracking down the various locations of these ruins.
If this does mark the end of this mission, this is going to invalidate my only current reason and use for the upcoming Squadron Carrier.
And I fear for new players as well - not only is the a great means to learn to use many of Elite's most complex systems - SRV operations, synthesis, inventory management, ship design, planning and engineering, it will also deprive new players of a great opportunity to see their efforts rewarded in a significant manner.
Perhaps I'm just being a bit doom-and-gloomy here... perhaps there's nothing to worry about at all and I'm just reading too much into this. Perhaps not.
And that's the point. None of these requirements taking much more than a few hours.
5k and back in maybe 2-3hrs.
The only requirement that does take a lot of work (in my view) is the one that requires Dangerous or Deadly rank first... Shame your crew don't count - as one of my crew is Dangerous, while I'm still only Master.![]()
It wouldn't be the first time FDev showed they couldn't care less about time invested by players now would it..

- Ram Tah doesn't engineer anything that anyone would miss too much if they didn't unlock him.
