Isn't a bit too simple to obtain ships?

By ''too simple'', I meant all you have to do in order to get a ship is to make enough credits and simply purchase it from a station at this moment,which makes me feel like money = everything, not challenging or diversified at all. I know there will Faction Ships that you have to do missions and probably have to keep a good relationship between them to get one of those ships. However, will purchasing ships be a little more complex sort of like EVE, in which you need to reach a certain skills level before you could get it even you have enough money? I'm not suggesting that there should be a skills requirement for getting ships.But, maybe adding some other interesting ways other than purchasing ships with credits purely? For example, a hauler pilot required a certain amount of flight hours/experiences on his hauler in order to be qualified to get a type 6??(just a rough example to give you an idea of what im talking about.)

In alpha and Premium beta alot of players complained that making creds was to hard. You need credits to test everything out so they made making credits pretty easy at the moment. Dont expect it to be this simple when the game launches but for now its nice so we can test out most ships and weapons :). So as making credits will be alot harder in the full release getting a ship will be aswell. I personally think that would be enough.

The game is still in Beta. As such the devs have made it easyier to aquire just about everything in the game so that we can test it all out. It WILL be balanced on release. Not to worry :smilie:

You might find that there are certain ships / equipment that you need a good reputation to buy too. All the credits in the world won't get you into the "Elite" shops, for instance

Nice to hear that the price will be balanced.However, my question still remains in my mind.

If I understand correctly, you only need money and reputation to get certain ships,that's it? Since trading is one of the most important things in game,won't it be more interesting if you actually need to collect resources by mining or trading in order to buy or build your ship??

#1 Not all ships will be available everywhere. Anaconda is sold in one place only. Expect this more, especially around specialist equipment;
#2 We have seen only general lineage ships. We haven't seen fraction ships. We haven't seen very specialized ships. Special modifications and hardware. Those again will be available only trough rep/special missions/etc/etc/etc.

Would you make all the parts for your car before purchasing it? I don't think so, it's fine as it is

All the previous Elite games allowed you to buy any ship as long as you had sufficient credits. The only deviation from this was FFE which had a mission where you were rewarded with a Thargoid ship on successful completion.

The whole premise of Elite is that unlike the pseudo open world games out there that beguile players with supposed freedom yet force them down skill trees or unlock missions, nothing limits you except money.

Obtaining certain ships will probably become a bit more difficult, but I don't think it's going to be by that much.

The thing is you'll probably be spending most of your playtime in the ship you want to fly.
This game isn't supposed to have a very tall progression ladder, at least not when compared to an MMO.

Most of the appeal of the game is supposed to come from doing things that are fun like a more traditional "game", but that part of the game hasn't been fleshed out very far yet.

FYI...
The only thing stopping me from driving a Lamborghini is money.
