Release Elite: Dangerous Market Connector (EDMC)

Please PM me the file %TMP%\EDMarketConnector.log.
Then please try killing the program from Task Manager, and re-starting it.

No need to PM it - it literally just contains :

E:D Market Connector 2.4.9.0 2018-01-28T11:55:26

Nothing else!

However, I started it with Oculus Home OFF and Elite not running and it has started now...so maybe it doesn't like running with Rift home already up?

That’s going to be difficult to diagnose unless someone wants to buy me an Oculus.
Only other thing that occurs to me is do you have the app set up to output to an external or network drive, and that drive wasn’t connected?

Nope, it's installed on a local disk, as is the game, and it's pointing to the correct folders.
I think it must have been something random, as it's starting with Oculus home running now - but it definitely had an "unhappy couple of days" :)

Just to make sure you are aware - when auto updating Inara using EDMC my credits and current assets are updated but the current assets fails to take into account the value of the stored modules saved on Inara. If I update Inara by uploading my journal then Inara does take the value of the stored modules into account and it is included in the current assets. This results in an incorrect total for current assets when using the auto update from EDMC.

A star means a first discovery on EDSM, green means already known.

I haven't had anything that wasn't a first discovery since 7th Feb so I shouldn't be getting any green circles. The problem would seem to be, as I've just discovered, that I was accidentally running two copies of EDMC. The one on top had green circles, and the one hidden underneath had gold stars. Sorry for being an idiot.

I am thinking of trying this after all, but I have a few things I want to clear out if someone can help. Sorry for the semi-big list, but I try to pack everything and this is what I couldn't find in any FAQ...

1) One thing that confuses me is that there are "overlapping" apps for ED. Seems EDMC is maybe the best "central feed" for other apps though, if someone doesn't need Voice Attack at least . Am I correct in this regard?

2) Is this updated for 3.0? Latest commit in git seems to be 13 days ago, but not sure if it relates to 3.0 at all.

3) Do I run the app before or after starting ED? (I suspect I quit it after quiting ED)

My major issue is what happens with existing data and this is where most of my questions stem...

3) Because I usually update INARA manually (at least until I have a working EDMC), I keep the journal folder clean with only the latest (couple of) journals and keep the older ones in another folder in there. Can I point EDMC there just once? Or will it be better to take them back to original folder? In that case, do I need to also KEEP them there, or they are useless to EDMC once it reads them once?

4) Will it actually read ALL my historic journals and possibly all my FDev stored data to build a proper complete profile for me?

5) So for example a ship bought and sold, will it show up in Coriolis or not?

6) How about a ship that I change loadout? Will the system be smart enough to realize it is the same ship and overwrite loadout?

7) If I want to keep a "historical" loadout, can I?

8) About INARA since I already use it. Should I delete my commander's data from it (which I don't even know if it can be done) and let EDMC re-apply everything "properly", or will the system (EDMC and/or INARA) realize what is really duplicate information?

9) I see in OP that "all modifications" is erased for EDShipyward and Coriolis. So will it make a file with no engineering? Or just some limitations we should know about?

10) Curious about this pseudo-anonymized ID. Can I use this to make new fresh INARA and EDSM profile? I want to be a bit incognito, in the sense that I don't want people just looking using my cmdr name.

THANKS!

1.) They all have different strengths. EDMC is the best at syncing your data to EDSM and it's the only one that syncs to Inara.
That said, it has virtually no local use. It's just for sending data to remote sites.
I also run ED Discovery for it's local logging and mapping but I have sync turned off on EDD.

2.) Expect an update today or tomorrow

3.) Run it before. It needs to be running a the time you log into the game to capture certain data.
-----
3.) You should leave your journal files where they are. Other programs like ED Discovery will need all of your journal files as far back as they go.

4.) EDMC will only read data as it's written so will only sync events as they happen. There's no going back if you didn't have it running at the time.
ED Discovery will sync old data, but not every event. Generally only jumps.
You can manually import your journal files to EDSM to get older data

5.) No. Only a ship that you are actually in will be sent, at the time you switch to it.
6.) Yes
7.) No. You can save your historical loadouts in Coriolis or ED Shipyard under different names.

8.) No. It will update. You need to get a api key from your existing commander profile.

9.) Engineering details are included and will be shown in Coriolis and ED Shipyard

10.) No. You can control what data other players can see (if any) from your profile controls in EDSM

Thanks Major Klutz.
Sorry for the double 3.
Great that an update is coming.
A bit of a follow up if you please.

4) So basically I go manually to INARA and EDSM and upload all my journals and THEN I can use EDMC and it will take over from that moment on. Right?

5) So for this to update, I need to go and switch to all my ships one by one to "get" the info. Right?

9) Maybe re-edit the OP?

10) What does this do then? (the anonymized ID)
The incognito I am interested is also for INARA (not sure if INARA also has privacy controls).

Thanks again.

4.) Inara doesn't really keep historical data so there's not much point in sending old journal files. The old ones will just update your current data.
You can upload all your old journals to EDSM and you should get a historical record of your jump/travel history, but probably not other history such as credit balance.

5.) To get your ships to show up in EDSM and Inara, you'll need to switch to ship each ship and give EDMC time to sync that info. I find that it's best to exit to the main menu and log back in since the ship outfitting and engineering details only seem to get listed at login.

9.) A patch or two ago, FDev removed the engineering details from the journal files. They have since been re-added.

10.) Notice the anonymized ID option is related to saved data, not to Inara or EDSM.
It might be for EDDN data. EDDN is a database shared among many web sites such as https://eddb.io/ and EDSM.
EDMC sends market data, outfitting data, station info and DSS scans when you scan a planet. These are not linked to your EDSM or Inara profiles but may have your name attached.

Inara Privacy Settings are here ... https://inara.cz/settings/

Thank you for very details replies.

4) BTW, inara does have a credit/asset graph that needs older journals first to show correctly.

Regards.

That's no longer true with the next release of EDMC for ED 3.0. EDMC will update your entire fleet on EDSM and/or Inara when you visit the shipyard in-game.
It will also send your detailed ship loadout to EDSM and/or Inara. But only for your current ship.
