PvP Why PvP is not popular in Elite Dangerous?

You mean your strawman version of the rhetoric you talked about?

It's not hysteria why PvP is not popular.
There is no iWin mode.
There is no riskless mode.
Some players enjoy riskless playing.

But the introspection I'd like you to gain is, that the thing you complain about the most, namely slagging off players who enjoy a different mode or playing style, is a prominent feature in your posts: slagging of those who don't play in Open. In other threads as well, but just in this thread PvP is not popular because of the hysteria of players who sit in their safety iWin mode.

nah everything is fine, that newbie just needs to accept that the map "open_de" is where he has to start with a knife Vets all start with AWP's until he played 500hours on that map against them to revceive a AWP himself. How can this be wrong? Also everyone on the vet side gets free ingamesprays saying "git gud little nub."

Its like you are home and watching TV,
but robbers stole your TV in their own universe.
You dont see them and cant stop them, only thing you can do is get your TV back.
Because somehow things are presenting in all universes and humans dont.

It's not like that at all. You can see the 'tick', the mission board, and all the necessary information in any of the modes. Nothing is hidden from view, as far as success in real game terms. It's all right there, once you understand how the BGS works.

That was SO bad...
Why thank you. Thank you so much. [heart]

I would like to thank the Academy for this opportunity ...

How its not like that? You trolling me? I dont know how to tell you, i made even real example. Nothing is hidden? SOLO/GROUP MODE PLAYERS ARE HIDDEN. Its nothing to do with "you dont understand how BGS works".

Its like explain something in kindergarten, gosh!

the ultimate bottom line is many people like the features and IF it is a show stopper for you you needed to vote with your wallet. It does not matter if it is fair for those who only want to play in open or not, the 3 modes and the ability to do competetive pve multiplayer without ever seeing another player, and without needing to pay for gold or psn+ is an advertised feature of the game.

imo FD has put FAR too much time into the direct PvP part of the game as it is, at the expense of the vast amount of PvE / npc features which have been hugely neglected.some people like PvP in ED... however many of us just think ED is not a great PvP game, it is just not balanced that way (and the fact people are constantly trying to either break the balance via exploits or have FD change the balance proves it imo).

But, to the game the player doesn't matter. It's the other player's actions you need to see to counter them. You can see the Missions Boards, you can see the daily 'tick'. I don't see the problem. Let's say you stop a Commander half of the time, you still aren't filling any buckets. The buckets he was able to fill, will still beat you. Everything you need to succeed against any threat, is available to you in open/Solo/PG. It's all there. You just need to know how to use it.

Names change but the argument stays the same.

"Oh gee Rick I wonder why that is?"

"I dunno Morty, but if you think its going to stay the same. You've got another thing coming."

I'm sure all of that means something to you. But, it really has no bearing on how the game actually works.

But it does have bearings on making changes to the game that currently doesn't work.

Well, if the game were to change, then my advice would change. As it stands, if you or the other guy, were to catch that evil doer 99 out of 100 times, without filling buckets yourself, he'll beat you. With the proper application of the game's rules, not some fantasy version, you too could find success.

Einstein once said:"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results." Can you see an application for this in your game views?

Don't do it because it's boring, most of the time is wait and chasing others then wait and chasing and again and again meeeeeeeeee.

Until happens something fun takes a long time and when it happens it's that usual cowardice 3 attacking 1 , Uber ships killing nobies It's ugly

+1. I bought ED because it had the availability to dogfight against other CMDRs on a relatively level playing field. The early fights, when consensually organised were fun. Usually a 1v1 experience.

Eventually, more "organization" happened and we were pitted against each other in wings. Then the boring stalking and waiting came along, all in yet another organized fashion. Waiting for the call to wing up on someone else's "authority" isn't interesting to me. Setting up wing v wing fights, only to be the first one multi-targeted and taken out repeatedly gets old. Then the wait to re-enter the fight while watching on the sidelines isn't exactly fun. The old days of just having fun on a level playing field seemed lost.

Don't get me wrong. Some of the organized events were fun as well. It just wasn't what I had imagined when I bought the game. Then engineers came along and unbalanced the whole thing.

So now, I play the BGS. It's much more interesting and the level playing field is back. There are times when it gets a tad boring, but most of the time, there's something to do that gives a feedback that makes sense.

but it (that part of the game) DOES work..... you just dont like it.

it would be like if i went to the iracing forums and demanded a full single player campaign career as well as burnout style take downs.

both suggestions are not bad -per se- but i would get told something along the lines of "i am sorry but no", and no protestations from me saying the game is broken without them (for me without a single player campaign it IS an incomplete game) would change it.

if you have a round hole, buy a round peg, dont buy a square one, demand it is filed down to suit you and ruin it for everyone else who has a square hole!.

I play in Möbius, not because I want to but because I don’t have the time to play in open.

Let me explain: if I am lucky I might manage up to 1 hours play in an evening over on average 3 or 4 evenings.
I own an Anaconda which I enjoy flying, now if or more likely when I get destroyed by a very good pilot in a PVP encounter it will cost me a small fortune. One death may take the rest of the weeks game time to recover the credits lost in rebuy costs let alone the cargo, bounties and exploration data credits I’m carrying.

This is the reason I’m out on PVP at the moment
