PvP Why PvP is not popular in Elite Dangerous?

Let me ask you this.

The 1% chance I am right. What are you gonna do?

What ever I find entertaining. I can hack it in open, I just don't want to. Loosing a pixel ship in a video game hardly keeps me up at night. I just prefer to play with Ladies and Gentlemen.

A while back, I was challenged. The guy said: "Go ahead, play in a PG. You'll get bored and be back in a month". I took up that challenge and found open held nothing special. I could access all of my interests in game, in a PG exactly the same as in open.

Then circumstances brought me to join a Player Group. This group was PvP focused and hunted griefers. They said PvE players are fine, we need BGS help. And, they welcomed me. This inevitably drew me back into open, and even further, it drew me back into organized PvP. A big mistake. I was soon reminded why I shed my PvP skin long ago.

I don't hide from your type. My pixels fear no one. What hide from is myself. I am much happier and enjoy E|D so much more, when what other players are doing, is left to them. I only ask that others respect that, and give me the same courtesy.

Welp Engineers changes, Crime and Punishment and Karma proves all that wrong.

You're just presenting wishful thinking as some sort of concrete evidence over and over.

Come back in a year, and tell me again how that worked out, and how PvP is more meaningful or deep in any way than the year before. ;)

DUDE, so fun fact. Archon Fury is the guy that got me to buy this game. I came across one of his videos on Reddit. I was like WHAT IS THIS GAME. And it was around the Powerplay Release, I was able to play for a bit. But then my CPU took a dump.

When I bought the game NO WHERE did they say Objectives could be taken in solo and private. And PVP came with IRL DLC and Sodium because of it.

They advertised PVP with Powerplay. And the modes ruined it. I did NOT get the game that was Advertised.

Then you weren't looking. The very same sales pitch that says, 'And hunt other players', says, 'play alone or with your freinds'. Selective memory and comprehension is a common issue here I believe.

As others have said, not really. I never heard of you before this thread. You evidently posted a number of times, but it hasn't been anything memorable.

I, and I'm sure many others will forget you ever existed after this thread is closed. If you're here or not.

short-lived media publicity or celebrity of an individual or phenomenon. The expression was inspired by Andy Warhol's words "In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes",

Not really. Bought it on steam. No where on there did they say Solo and Private could effect everyone else.

It also said it was a MMO. And so on.

If anyone is selective about comprehension its these forums.

Especially when the whole game is balanced around the Aspects of players effecting each other.

Really,

it states on Steam :-

Multiplayer/Single Player

'every player’s personal story influences the connected galaxy and handcrafted evolving narrative.'

it also says :-

Massively Multiplayer
Experience unpredictable encounters with players from around the world in Elite Dangerous’ vast massively multiplayer space. Experience the connected galaxy alone in Solo mode or with players across the world in Open Play, where every pilot you face could become a trusted ally or your deadliest enemy. You will need to register a free Elite Dangerous account with Frontier to play the game.

with players across the world in Open Play <~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Only reason I bought it.

And when it comes to objectives they arent there.

And its not because they dont want to PVP. The people are capable. It comes down to ship builds and outfitting for Maximum Efficiency. Like I said you put yourself at a disadvantage using your engineered modules because you cant stack as many +++ missions as the guys in solo and private, You dont have to worry about your adversaries or anything. Using those moods completely removes the need for Engineering when it comes to BGS and Powerplay.

Guess what. Thats the last thing they want.

How many features of this game dont get used because of the modes?

Its not going to stay this way. I can guarantee that.

There's where you have a disconnect. You knew the Modes were there, why would you assume they didn't count. Because it doesn't suit you? Your assumption then, was completely backwards, why should anyone, including yourself, believe it will any different in the current case?

Another mistake you make is, thinking that players are effecting each other. We are not, we are affecting the game/BGS. Players don't own anything, but our ships. We associate ourselves with an in-game faction, but we never own them. Nor systems either. That is a holdover from a different space game. You may be confusing them.

I can't see your lack of diligence when purchasing an online game, as a reasonable cause to fundamentally it. It comes down to: Your bad.

P.S. No comment on my response to your 'what if' question?

Well, to give him his due, I didn't know what a 90 skid was before now. Apparently it is a construction site vehicle made by John Deere. So I have, if nothing else, learned something new.

Is that why player owned factions get UA bombed?

Is that why we are getting Fleets?

Is that why we had a colonia intuitive where player groups worked for their own faction. Colonia is not a truck stop.

If anyone is disconnected. Its YOU buddy.

I presume that you are referring to the Solo and Private Groups. It's interesting to note that the call for these two modes to be removed has been around since before the game was released and yet they still remain. FDev have been unusually unequivocal with their answer to questions of the form 'Will these two mode be removed at any time'. Their answer has been short and to the point, no ambiguity at all.

Their answer was 'No'.

Why don't you ask them again, just to be sure?

Probably nowhere near as many as you think, the features in this game that aren't popular aren't used due to poor implementation above anything else, (no, not talking about the modes), Frontier delivering half baked features, that people don't like because they are half baked and then stating, 'if they're popular we'll expand on them' is the main issue here, not the modes.

They are fixing all this with Beyond man. I think they are doing a great job with those loose ends so far.

They get U.A. bombed because it's part of game play. Players don't get bombed, Factions and/or Stations get bombed. Everything is filtered through the BGS to guarantee universal access. That's the point, so everyone can play the game, as they like. Right from the beginning, with no interuption since.

Squadrons and it's content haven't been mentioned. I just don't see, Comms, Mega-shps, and tags as all that PvP exclusive. If you expect it to include system/station ownership, that's likely just more of your selective up-take of the data supplied.

I just don't see that proving me wrong. They are discussing the U.A. Bombing of stations, not players. Key concept here: Filtered through the BGS.

In response to U.A. bombing in general, FD created and balanced the threat with M.A.'s. Not by making U.A. bombing open only. They created a PvE method to counter them. I know how I read that response. PvP isn't the answer.

Only if they are correct. Otherwise they prove nothing at all. Likewise if it is an opinion. That proves nothing even if it is correct.

They are correct. Proven mathematically.

3 size 6 slots on a python, youd use for defenses against premium ammo in open.

Or go to solo and private use a naked build and get 96 extra slots, No need for engineering. No need to defend yourself against the people you are at war with. And (dont do this) But people just combat log in solo and private on NPC's if they get caught.

They do it on stream all the time. And a player cant report that combat log there. They still get to turn in all those missions safely.

There ya go Proof.

Again these are people with 1600+ hrs in the game with multiple accounts in various places like colonia and the bubble.

Want some more proof, here ya go,

They are well aware of how they are taking advantage of the situation. People know they can be stopped. SO the use the modes to get around it. PLAIN AND SIMPLE.

You'd almost think this is a concerted effort to prove a point...who said goons left the game.
