Oh ok. Cool!
As you were, gentlefolk.
Stop using the game as charity and 'good causes' platform. We are here to play the game and have fun and not endure a never ending set of charity events or memorial services.
Frankly its become obvious this sort of thing is little more than virtue signalling and I find that somewhat insidious.
At the very least if people are doing these charity things then it shouldn't be imposed on others.
We don't. We do the charity on twitch. It's just that the people participating all play elite. Suck it up, be a nicer human being, break out your wallet, donate to a good cause.
Don't like it, then don't donate or watch any streams that are participating. I highly doubt there's anyone out there anywhere forcing you to participate in voluntarily watching people stream on twitch.
I'm not the one kicking up a fuss and expecting special in game treatment because of things going on outside of it and using it as a way to pejoratively label other players of the game.

He lives in Manchester, England so its not exactly hard.
@Red remember the good times we had in the other game nuking drone events with all the colos and cylons sitting about singing kumbaya, good times.
I'd love to see what the forum reaction would've been had some of elites players been there.
I shudder to think.
One of the best laughs I've ever had in this game was when I saw an npc in a res site say 'but I was only mining!' for the first time. Brought back so many memories.
Appreciate the assist there, Damon8r!
So yeah... some of the responses in here I've seen are disturbing... The commander who is going to be doing this has every right to, charity work or not. Our charity also doesn't hinge on our stations working. I do appreciate the support, I really do, but respect for play style trumps in my book. Privateer's Alliance mantra is 'Play your own way, but play together'. So while we do thank you for the respect for the event and the offers for help, we also would appreciate it if labels and for the insane calls for use of law enforcement for something as trivial as an action in a video game be dropped.
I've had convos with the person who is doing the bombing. He has an agenda, he has purpose, but most important, he's not a bad person despite what he might do in a video game. We respect that, even though it's targeted at us as a group. Stuff happens, we'll fight back, life moves on. I was hoping that this would turn into discussion more about the charity and heart health, but it's the forums, so... yeah.

Here's to keeping your hearts healthy. Don't fight on the forums, it raises blood pressure, it makes life way more difficult than it needs to be. And for gods sake, just enjoy the game, the good and the bad.
Also, the steps we have taken to fight back:
1. We've got bank accounts (spare ED accounts that have T9's or cutters) filled with MAs, last count was at 3000+
2. We have an RSS feed to watch for our station shutdowns
3. We talked with the person behind it. Offered no ill will for the event, and are going to use this to further our cause, show how well Privateer's Alliance works together and why our charities are worthy of support

I think what he meant is that since you guys are mostly all Elite Dangerous players, you are inherently using it as a medium to reach out for donations, which in some way is totally in your right.
However, it does feel like Frontier has the tendency to give special treatments to people using Elite as a platform for charity these days, which honestly might be good for publicity but is a tiny bit annoying for all the rest of the players out there looking for an equal footing in this universe.
Do I get jealous for not being able to have my own megaship, no, but it seems a bit unfair (in my opinion) for the rest of the community... not being able to enjoy these same very thing's.
I do kinda know what you mean. As a roleplayer (from other games before this as well) it does leave me with a strong sense of meta-gaming.
I'm all for good will and good press, but there are ways to do it that don't disturb other people's ability to play fairly under the rules that are set by the game, from within the game.
If FDev wants to get involved and put something together, that's cool, it just needs to be done with great care and transparency. No one should be setting up a charity that could possiblyfail, by not meeting some arbitrary goal within the game, that is completely with someone's rights to try and impede (as long as they aren't cheating,) unless part of the charity event is the challenge that it might fail--which is a valid way to go, as you can earn a lot and get a lot of participation/interest by making something more dramatic that way--but don't do it unless you are confident you can succeed, because you can't complain if you don't--no one playing the game inherently owes you cooperation with anything (regardless of how much of a it may make them seem like to refuse you).
OK, so let me summarise the responses so far in order to attempt to achieve a consensus across the entire community.
The options - radically different though many may be - are that:
(A) Frontier should impose a ban - to be rigorously policed - of all financial fund-raising using their product, to include most obviously charity fundraising.
(B) Frontier should create a new mode - 'CHARITY' - within which all forms of direct and indirect PvP are forbidden, including UA bombing but also any other kind of BGS attack and, obviously, Orcas, Clippers, not to mention (obviously again) Fer-de-Lances. Actually, hard points are banned. As well as collisions. Did I mention Cutters? Frontier to decide case-by-case which good causes are sufficiently good to qualify for Developer-guaranteed-immortality-plated-immortality. (Noting that if they approve one yet refuse another, someone will probably go to the press. Realistically in the UK at least they'll have to approve anything to do with pets.)
(C) Frontier should state publicly that they will only permit matters to continue as now ... organically ... if all charity fundraisers understand and agree that anything goes in ED. One last chance ... any more complaints from charity fundraisers and option (A) applies.
(D) Frontier should do as they always should have done. Now is the time to make all systems, players, stations and ships immune to all forms of hostility in all circumstances. The charities will be saved, but only as part of a wider salvation. Heaven awaits!
(E) Perma-ban all PvP griefers.
(F) Perma-ban all UA bombers, zerg swarmers, goons, BGS attackers, authority-ship-killers, Powerplay 5th columnists, thread spammers, mod-pesterers and reddit brigaders.
(G) Ban everyone and everything except me, my Cobra III and DBOBE. (At last, we might meet...!)

Did I miss anything out?
Every action has a counter. We should just chill out and play the game.
I count it a blessing that my catalogue of insanity should have been followed immediately by the ever-sane MottiKhan.
Thank you.
