Kingdom Come Deliverance

Which works great until you find a forest camp with 3 Cuman in. I can take the two on but I more tank it rather than finesse it right now. It does feel good when you pull it off though. I've had several of those ambushes which are fun as they are normally ill-armed and armoured commoners. But it does highlight an AI failing.

One person is on the floor pretending to be hurt. You speak to them and then 2-3 other attackers appear. Taking one or two of them out can lead to the other fleeing which is a nice touch, but they only flee so far. If you wait around they calmly wander back and you can clobber them easily, as if they have completely forgotten what you did and who you are. It would have been better if they kept fleeing and if it was detected they were sufficiently far enough away just despawn then, but do give the player the chance to catch up if they wish to run them down.

Man killing an enemy is so satisfying in this game. :)

There was this situation I had to kill 2 bandits camping in the woods...

First tried to kill both by fighting both with the sword. got killed a few times. Then tried to kill one of them with the bow, he survived the first couple of arrows, both ran at me and got killed while still switching to the sword. Finally managed by creeping behind one of them and knocking him out unconscious, then killed the second by swordfighting, then finally killed the previous one while he was still unconscious. And I bet there were still more ways to handle this situation. Plenty of times I feel I could have resolved things in several different ways.

And man, hitting someone with a bow is an absolutely marvelous sensation. When it hits there is this wondenful sensation. I have never felt this joy when landing arrow hits in Skyrim, mostly because in Skyrim it's impossible to miss with the bow as you basically click on the enemy and the game makes sure the arrow gets there.

I truly missed a game where I could actually get better at something, not just watch the character deal more damage over time. And it fits the game's theme so well, as being worthless and starting to become better is the whole premise of being in Henry's shoes.

I also love the ever-present sense of fragility and danger, which encourages the player to use their head first, and skill second. Even as Henry evolves and you start getting better gear, you will only become a bit less fragile than before, mistakes or bad decisions will still be costly, and Henry will still be fragile.

Finally an RPG where I can actually feel Human, not a hitpoint sponge. The nearest I ever played in this matter was the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games.

Exactly how I feel. It's a great system where character skills are important, but it's the player's skill that decides the outcome of the battle.

Does anyone know if there will be any scope for mods to allow for additioanal mission content, even non-vocalised stuff would be fine.

I think this would be one of those games where, once the main campaign is completed, it would be great if there were community content to play through.

I don't think devs really declared their stance towards mods. But mods do exist, already and they don't seem to be opposed to the idea. We'll see.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
I may have to check this one out. Looks interesting. :)

I like that it emphasizes you ability progression so much and that combat has some weight to it.

Course the difficulty also sounds like it's no joke. heh.

Just be prepared for bugs. A lot of them. I mean, it's not as buggy as Bethesda games in their first weeks after launch, but it's up there. :D
Doesn't change the fact that it's kinda awesome, though.

I give Bethesda a ton of slack in that area. Heh. It's funny, but on some level I find Bethesda bugs almost endearing. I tend to know what I'm in for with their engine. :)

So, bugs in and of themselves may not be a deal breaker here, but good to know what I'd be getting myself into anyway.

Yeah, I don't really mind bugs either. I haven't run into any game breaking ones, like bugged out quests, just minor stuff.
I've read some people had it worse, but then again, people tend to over react, so who knows.

Plus side of realisitic medieval setting - no dragons flying backwards. :D

It isn't. And the bugs in KC are actually worse than in Bethesda Games. Combined with the ridiculous save system (at least on the PC you can mod it) you can lose a lot of progress.

I think thats subjective. For the same amount of time playing both Skyrim and Kingdom Come, I have had less issues with KC:D. In Skyrim I encountered two main quest bugs that needed either an old save or a console command to fix. In KC:D I've only come across a few graphical bugs. So different for everyone.

The worst bug I've come across after 20 odd hours is a few funny collision bugs like people walking through each other. One quest did glitch and not spawn a character but a reload of save fixed it. Saving isn't an issue there are many ways the game saves just do one and remember to do one.

Fairly typical stuff for a Bethesda game in terms of bugs but Bethesda get a pass on all that stuff. Others don't for some reason. This is far better than a typical Bethesda game in lots of ways.

Worst for me at the moment is the crashes.

Sometimes I can go for hours, other times I can barely play 20 minutes without crashing.

I haven't had any crashes or quest breaking bugs, only ones I've noticed is people walking through each other and I once saw a flying horse

This game already stirred some "controversy" on a so-called gaming media of a laughable credibility that asked to boycott this game because it doesn't feature any people of colour...while being set in 1400s in Bohemia.

Stunning how rediculous the PC brigage have got isn't it! Racist for being accurate!

I haven't had any crashes either but I have noticed some cheating guards.

I was in the middle of sneaking into a shop in Rattay and was in the process of unlocking a chest to borrow its contents. As I left that room and was on my way out of the building, a guard spawned right on top of me as a I traversed the adjacent room. Fortunately he didn't see me but did call out as if he had heard something. I had previously wondered why it was that I had sneaked into someones house as quietly as I could and was actualy caught by a guard as I rifled through a chests contents, with several closed doors between me and the outside. Now I know, they just spawn in the room behind you.

No crashes so far, but performance tanking and glitching and clipping. Once it made me walk in the air in a forest. Saved me from a cuman rabble, but that was the silliest one. And quests breaking - luckily not the main quest line, which has some pretty good highlights.

Im running on a 5 year old machine with an i7 2600, 16GB ram and a GTX 760 with very old drivers.

I do have a little bit of pop in, I think I am running on medium settings which still looks really nice, but I have no complaints performance wise.
