I don't doubt that you'll be able to game the game against ATR in the final release, but I am still looking forward to seeing if they have improved. Also looking forward to seeing you post some bug reports on ATR if they suck, rather than just posting "me, me, me" videos of them ;)

To be perfectly honest, dunking of SJA's work is the fastest route to basically kicking Fdev in the to get them to fix the ATR being so ineffective, I personally wan't to go back to bounty hunting and while the ATR in their current form could be used as a weapon to help in unfair fight where a bounty hunter(me) might face 5 or 6 bad guys at once, currently that's a stupid idea and would get me killed quite fast BUT with the beta ATR I could potentially win that fight by using the ATR as a weapon. the issue though is that the AI is stupid and can be safely kited away from a fight with a single person leaving the others to kill the bounty hunter or trader etc.

Giving them unrealistic weapons is not going to prevent murder, it will only speed up the methods used to murder another player causing more frustration as players will have even less time to react, the solution is competent AI that is able to match the ability of a player not cheat its way past a situation in the name of punishment.

My hope for this "improved AI" is one of where I can take on 4 other wanted players with ATR dropping in to back me and being able to keep up with me and the enemies so as to force a group to leave an instance though jumping or death, I would also like to see some kind of emergency beacon feature, a beacon that can be put up to allow anyone in an instance to see this beacon just like when in a wing and lock on to it and drop in. it would be even better if we saw ATR in SC pulling wanted players and having this beacon to allow bounty hunting players to drop in and help the AI ATR just as the AI ATR help player bounty hunters.

I hope they go "NeeNahNeeNah" rather than "WooWooWooWoo".
Fdev being UK, they will unfortunately end up "NeeNahNeeNah." :p

How long until the first episode of COPS on Galnet?

"We're responding to a four thirty seven out by Bradley Station. Some kid in an Anaconda T-boned an elderly lady in a Hauler. The caller said it looked like space rage. We'll be coming in weapons hot..."

You what??

Atleast the "pulling" part would be nice. Beacon would be cool to, but pulling is first priority. Lack of persistance, and pretty much ignoring wanted players in SC is a silly NPC behaviour.

Presumably, you'll get to see them when they show up to prevent your paintjob being turned into spacedust on occasion too.

No, they only show up afterwards, about a minute after the deed is done iirc. They're supposed to punish, not prevent - not much one can do to help a C-rated hauler vs a godroll FDL anyway. I'm not sure what kind of mentally challenged ganker would hang around in the instance for a whole minute after taking out their victim, but that's apparently how it works. Maybe the idea is that they'll stick around to collect mats from the wreck?

I would love to see that. It would be a bonus for playing in Open, the possibility of getting help from players. Although Wanted players shouldn't be able to see the beacons, or else you could make things worse.

Presumably, if introduced, it would be a bonus for playing in either of the game modes where players can meet other players?

The latter part is a bit of the problem, isn't it? Sure, they're not supposed to prevent someone from killing someone else, but at a certain point they really should switch to a pre-emptive tactic. When someone with a notoriety level of 10 is in the system, ATR really shouldn't have to wait for the player to attack someone else. They really should try to make that player leave the system imo. I'm starting to feel like a broken record, but NPC Persistance is key imo.

Also, I believe the response time for the ATR gets shorter and shorter based on your notoriety level. If it's high enough, they will insta-spawn when another player is assualted (ie. fired upon). Atleast that's what some who did beta testing reported (I was unfortunately unable to play the beta this myself).

When they interdict they should also say "We're the ATR son and we haven't had any dinner, now get your trousers on you're nicked!"

Does this screenshot on twitter mean that ATR also respond near a planet surface? I'd like some ship combat there.
