A Design Flaw: Trade Routes and Piracy

I think one day you'll be able to carry your Viper there in your Anaconda.

And leave you ananconda floating around while you are off attacking merchies,

An aircarft carrier stripped of its aircraft is just a large target especially with no one at the wheel ;)

It'll be very interesting to see what FD will give us when it comes to advanced scanners. Will we be able to pick up a signature, even approximate one, of a powered-down ship floating in the middle of nowhere?

Will we need to leave a beacon active so we know where to return with out smaller ship? Can that beacon be detected by others?

Ah, the possibilities!

Indeed and with ship boarding things could become real intresting as some ****** steals you flame streaked pride and joy and just leaves a sad pair of fluffy dice and a wayne and tracy windscreem sticker floating around

Apologies in advance for raising what might seem a daft suggestion but I don't understand why we always have to target a system to be able to make a jump. I like the way jump range and fuel is limited and varies from ship to ship but since a jump does not use a full tank of fuel i for one would like the freedom to be able to type in some coordinates into the jump drive and just hop around space. That way as long as you had sufficient fuel on board you could undertake several jumps in a row and reach further than you can at the moment with the current mechanic.

Yeah I know what the OP means. I was doing some of those trading runs in a type 6 and it occurred to me.. why are there hardly any pirates here? People are trucking ridiculous amounts of gold.

I don't wanna even think about the group hopping. :(
