that crime system..

Why? You can still commit crime in this game, easy as pie. You want to gank, go out and gank. Pirate? Go pirate. Blow up surface stations, by all means. Tag cops in the RES, go for it.

All you have to do is visit the IF and pay off the bounty and you're good to go.

Get a fine, just pay it off in the issuing jurisdiction.

I don't see what the complaint is.

The "complaint" is that the whiners don't like the idea of consequences. My only complaint is that it doesn't go far enough. Detention Centers? Great, but why only Mega-ships? Why not Outposts & Surface Settlements? Bounties that stick to your ship until you clean it? Great, but why not apply bounties that properly fit the size of the crimes, & which have the true potential to hit Commanders in their hip pockets?

Marc, do remember you could accidentally plough into a ship, and the "it'll never happen to me" narrative will suddenly, rather bluntly, end. No-one likes consequences when they are self-experienced; remember that. Not a single person. ;)

No-one likes consequences, but everyone likes to punish other people though. So.. eh. Humans.

You realize that a fully engineered gank ship CANNOT be killed and will never truly feel the massive rebuy. The only ininconvenience is it needs to jump few times to refuel/restock/repair, but its a minor nuisance.

Marc, you've been a consistent troll on this subject from the beginning and I've called you out on this when the system was much worse.

I don't deny that the system as is actually makes things potentially interesting, but one way to improve it would be to raise the threshold for when having a bounty triggers lockouts. Like, say, 1000cr bounty.

Three words:

Notoriety and ATR.

Go strait to a low security system and select the interstellar factors. Pay them and all is good again in your home system.

Flimley

Your base should be an anarchy. All stations which are aligned to the same power/faction will be locked to you, whatever the system.

Hello Commanders!

It looks like this *might* be a bug where Interstellar Factors are sometimes not allowing bounties to be paid off. The following statements show how the system should be working.

* If a bounty is issued against you, you must use Interstellar Factors to pay it off.
* Interstellar Factors are present in systems with "low" security, and at anarchies.
* You can use galaxy map filters to find Interstellar Factors.
* Interstellar Factors will let you pay off bounties in bulk only - you can pay all Federal, All Alliance etc.
* If you have a Notoriety level of greater than zero, Interstellar Factors will not allow you to pay off bounties
* Notoriety increases by one for each murder crime you commit and decays at a rate of one point per two hours in game.

If you find that this is not the case, please submit a bug, specifying which faction/system issued the bounties and which Interstellar Factors were failing to allow it to be paid off.

And the highest your notoriety can reach is '10', right?

So I have to do all this just because I accidentally shot a 'wanted' NPC before finishing the scan? It was only a 600 credit fine. I can't pay it off in the same jurisdiction? I have to find an interstellar factor thingy? This is too much for a misdemeanour...

If you're having a hard time maintaining good situational awareness, may I suggest you take a break from farming NPCs at fishing ground HAZRES before dozing off.

You should be able to pay the fines at the station. Go to contacts, pay the fine the ussual way and the station services will become availble again.

Fines can be paid off at the faction station - Bounties need the interstellar Factors
