3.0 is here - what have you been trying, what do you like?

The days of federal/empire rank grinding seem to be over - a stack of 20 simple delivery missions from Hors just gave me 30% rank gain at Post Captain, when I chose the "reputation" rewards for all of them. Guess that means (relatively) quick Cutters and Corvettes for everyone.

I engineered about 10 ships including a brand new Chieftain.
All of my main ships have maxed out FSDs and DD5s now.
I'm going to build multiples of certain ones just to make comparing loadouts easier; Vette, Chieftain, FDL.
Will also be buying a second Cutter since getting great mods is a given now.

There are many, many things I'm happy for with this update.
The engineering system is vastly improved, planets look amazing and best of all, the hideous crackling noises and robot voice didn't surface at all during over 12 hrs of play time.
Even the material trader works really well, so long as you can find one...
Biggest gripe would be the text is way too small on the engineering screen dials, as are the dials themselves.

Well done FDev!

I'm loving the update so far and don't see anything ahead to change that impression.

Picked up a Chieftain right away, A rated it and started the Engineer process. Wow, the new Engineer system is dead easy and with the Traders and increased storage the mat issues are gone.

The Chieftain is a great little combat ship, handles very well. Going to have fun trying different weapon loadouts.

Planets look great but have to admit I didn't mind the old ones.

The new voice is good, and audio Galnet is great. I presume it'll change every Thursday.

Ran out of time so will try out the new trading tools and missions later. Looking forward to getting back in game.

Quite literally, the only thing I had time to do last night, after the download completed, was to fit a new cargo rack on my T-9. Any serious looking at the changes will probably have to wait until this weekend.

Updated (pretty quick, but might be because I didn't try during prime time), then logged in for the first time in a wee while. Traded in Materials to be able to unlock Ram Tah, and then went to do just that. The improved planetary textures look good! Game also seems to run smoother now - less stutter and texture popping on planetary approach.

Upgraded defenses of the old FDL (so nice to have lost the casino look from Engineering!). I like that upgrades are quick on the second module - feared having to sit through the process twice. Then after reading Galnet, I started jumping towards one of the new Guardian sites, while listening to Verity read me the news. Maybe 20 - 30 jumps in I realised I should probably have brought another ship for the task, but ended up continuing in the FDL just for the hell of it.

:D S

NHSS 7. And because I skipped seeing them in beta, I thought I might pop in and say hello in my Vette.

3 minutes later, 36% hull and I figured it was time to leave.. nasty little critters - there must have been at least 3 of them - it was hard to tell cos the little buggers keep moving around!

I have since decided that Thargoids must die and will respec my vette to AX spec. Then I will go-a hunting for Scouts. And they will die... oh yes...

Love the not-beige planets.
Been trying to figure out what the Chieftain is actually good for.
Been trying to fill my materials bin.

Rather fond of the Ignore option when mining, though I haven't yet gotten to mine in the live version, but spent 3 days doing in the beta.

Don't care for the Flak/Flechette style reticle on the SRV though, it's sort of bulky and in the way.

Really like being identified by my callsign "Saud Kruger Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot...."

Other than that.. I just haven't had enough time with it yet.

I'm frustrated with the lack of Biotech Conductors, presently.

I'm literally agog that the logout option still has a yes/no option at the end of the timer. Agog I tell you.

New Galaxy map filtering and general trading info is an excellent addition. So easy to find stuff now.

Targeted canisters and materials showing the quantity you already have on board is very handy.

Loving the new variety and choices in the missions.

The increased storage allows me to just hoover-up all the materials I encounter, and combined with the Material Traders it makes Engineering and Synthesis so quick and easy.

Rocky planets, just lovely to see.

Well done Frontier people [up]

During the beta I explored all the Engineering stuff, and so I had my plans all ready (in my head, anyway) to upgrade my T10 first.

I knew I could get a lot more performance out of it by converting everything to the new system.

So that's what I've been doing. And it's going really well! I really like the new system.

I even gots some vids in progress, over here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMHUZ9vISpfqvbv28i3RErA

I have lots of things I want to do in 3.0, but I figured I'd start by pimping my ride a little more :)

Love the update, but I can't find a distribution center in any of famine states I've been to.
Edit: Found one finally, good one too Large port right next to it.

Spent 6hrs doing wing trade missions in my cutter, only did the ‘commodities required’ missions and earned over 100 mil, now I’ve got that out the way I’m going to do my re-engineering tomorrow. All in all I’d give the update a solid

9/10 so far.

the biggest thing for me though is this is only the FIRST and not the biggest update we’re going to get in the beyond package and if those to come are all on this scale then this games just going to get better and better and better. So much so I’m already salivating for number 2.

keep up the good work

All looks good so far! I've now bought and equipped - mainly A rated - the Chieftain but have yet to go and get anything engineered. Perhaps slightly short on internals but seems to be able to be kitted out as a fairly substantial hard hitting boat. Yet to try it out as such though.

Trading system looks to have more information available to work from but not yet worked through it. Others seem to like it so hopefully it's allowing us to trade knowing that we should be making a profit!

Was a little confused by the 'Materials Trader' only having data items available for sale or swap, but on further reading we have to go to find a 'Raw Materials Trader' at a high security extraction or refinery system for some of the materials we have been collecting.

I have yet to go off out into the black exploring once again, but I'm sure there will be improvements there too!

First impressions are 'so that's all good then!' (anyone spot the reference?) :)
