That would cut a pretty hefty chunk out of the PvP population, you know.Too bad the game can't have a "must have a spine and brain" requirement to play.

Rust, DayZ, GTA Online, any number of other open world games. In any of those, you spot another player, and it's time to be wary. Elite is the same, people initiate combat for pure entertainment. But Elite has this population of people usually termed "carebears" who think all combat that isn't a duel isn't ok for some reason.
Combat happens because I am bored and wish to have a fight to entertain myself.

Absolutely agree with this, Elite is a game in which combat happens, but its not a game in which combat is supposed to happen for no reason....
Annihilating an unarmed and fragile ship is hardly a "combat" though is it?

As per the features of 3.0:
So what about new players that get griefed by players in big ships? They just get away with it?
My friend just got rammed to death in his Cobra by an Imp Clipper, and now he doesn't even have enough money for his rebuy. So much for "improved" crime and punishment.
What a total loophole.
PVP does hold value in this game. Even if it is just a trader..
Ahh yes...of course! All those Corvettes and FDLs that hang around CGs are doing it to "influence the BGS"
This week...they're passionate about THIS faction...then next week they're EQUALLY passionate about THAT Faction...
Why didn't I see that!
Here's me thinking they were just social inadequates living in their Parents Spare room, spending the money from their Pizza delivery round on a gaming PC because they haven't got a girlfriend...when all along I was wrong...they're deeply embedded in the sim...closely aligned to a particular minor faction and working hard, calculating the best way to increase its influence...oh and NEXT week they'll be EQUALLY passionate about affecting the BGS in a different system for a DIFFERENT faction in a different system on completely the other side of the bubble...
They could communicate a lot more of the game's aspects though. It's not exactly a secret to say the learning curve is more a cliff.

Imps vs Feds at CGS
People stopping people thargoid hunters because its starting to come to light that the thargoids are possibly the good guys. And the guardians have been using us. If you read the texts in the lore.
SHOULDN'T be part of the game...because they change the Universe from "Elite Dangerous" to "Elite Ridiculous"just enjoy fights and don't mind getting wanted. So I go to the CG and get into scraps
SHOULDN'T be part of the game...because they change the Universe from "Elite Dangerous" to "Elite Ridiculous
So, your idea of what the game is, and what is fun is more valid than mine because... Why exactly?
Because a Universe in which players go round shooting at Hollow Squares...simply because they're Hollow Squares doesn't make any kind of sense does it...Its not "INTERNALLY COHERENT" as your reason for doing it is rooted in "The Real World" (I like blowing people up/I like people getting Salty) NOT in the "Elite Universe" (I'm blowing these people up because its my way of making money/we have different goals/i'm opposing what they're doing)
As I've stated earlier it WILL happen because Frontier made a commercial decision to create a "simple" game that appeals to the lowest common denominator and we'll have a player base that includes people who really would be better off playing WoW or CoD etc...
It doesn't change the fact that what you're doing isn't rooted in "Elite Dangerous" but rooted outside the game...and therefor breaks Immersion and reduces the internal coherency of the game...i
I do not agree with the way you play, but I will defend to the death ... nah ... not going to go that farSee, I really don't give a damn for your immersion though. I play for fun, and fun for me is having fights with other players. If you need a way to justify my actions, you come up with whatever pleases you in your head, but I'm not accountable to your idea of what is and is not the proper way to play the game. The only people I'm accountable to for my behavior in game is the devs, and they've sanctioned it as a legitimate way to play. You seem to have an entire fantasy of what is and is not the correct way to play, and it upsets you that others aren't in agreement.
