Throttling down to next jump

Jump to hazardous star, press 0 throttle during countdown etc

Has this changed? I'm pressing zero throttle during the countdown and in hyperspace jump and I'm still coming out at full speed

what has also changed is when you jump into SC in FA-off and at next drop-out, FA is on again... not much of a struggle but a bit annoying to switch off FA every time...

Yeah I noticed this tonight.
When you center the Throttle, if you look at the in Game Throttle you'll see it pushed forward when you enter Witchspace, even if you recenter it in Witchspace it still pushes it forward again as you drop in front of the Star, making you accelerate towards it even though your Throttle's centred.

Edit as for some odd reason I wrote Whichspace instead of Witchspace...

Agreed. We need this little feature back. I know I’m going to be crashing into stars for months now because I do it on just about every star.

For clarification I play with mouse and keyboard, not joystick

Press zero throttle button during jump to next star

Used to arrive at star at zero movement, now I'm hurtling towards it.

Yes. This started in the beta, and has rolled into live.

It seems to happen like this with me, with the very occasional time when it doesn't throttle up, and stays zeroed. Very random, so I believe it's a bug, but in beta QA came along and suggested it was working as intended.

It also throttles up if you jump from normal space to supercruise, not something many will notice, but if you're just jumping up and want to go to zero throttle, well, you'll have to adjust it once the countdown finishes.

I had an exciting first jump in to a system with that new change! Weren't they also fixing a bug that zeroed out the throttle when it shouldn't have been? Maybe the fix went too far?

I just had my first chance to fly since the update, and was wary of this, as I'm in the habit of hitting my throttle-to-zero button combo when the countdown starts. In this regard, for me at least, nothing has changed - I still pop out with the throttle at zero, and come to a stand-still. I play with a controller, for what it's worth.

This was already posted and got a reply in the Bug forum, they are looking into it supposedly. Several Explorers are also even complaining, one who said his trip to Beagle Point almost got cut short due to this. It's a problem that was reported in the beta and should have never went live.

Yeah, quirky problem, it seems, in that it's not affecting everyone. Control-method specific, perhaps? I hope for those impacted that it's resolved very soon - I would've fried a ship or two by now if this hadn't been working for me, so it must be a pain for others who are habitually used to throttling to zero.

On Reddit, some have had success with setting a button to full reverse, rather than zero throttle - perhaps that's a workaround for those impacted for now?

I am going to say yes it's control specific. I use hotas with throttle and if I pull it back to none, pre jump or in the tunnel I come out and stop. I do come out of the jump with a little velocity but it immediately slows,to a stop and have no worries.

So it must be a keyboard specific issue, or else some sort of new setting?

I use a joystick/keyboard for my controls.

Pre 3.0 using my bindings I could select the speed, once the countdown started, using assigned keys for full, 75%, 50%, 25% or zero throttle upon next system entry.

Along came Beta - for some reason, like nearly everyone else, we all jumped to our next system at zero throttle. There was quite a bit of discussion on the Beta thread & we were told that it would be sorted on Live release.

Yes, now I enter each system at 100% & have to adjust to 75% before honking & scooping. This seems fine to me atm, but Iv not yet entered BH systems were I like to hit 0% like a million times before I used to drop into their systems.
Might be a bit more hairy until they revert back to pre 3.0 settings

If there's any discussion to be had on it, I prefer the way it is at the moment.

Makes more of a process of preparing for the jump for me. And (as without precise calculations, we could fly right through a star or bounce too close to a supernova - and that'll end your trip real quick) makes traveling through hyperspace less like dusting crops?

:D

Any idea if FDev consider the throttle down as a bug too Cmdr?

If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it. I would assume the Devs are working to revert it back to normal behaviour. No idea if the SC issue was intentional or a bug. Personally always fly full throttle when Jumping, only slow down to scan a star.

Hmm... I have exactly opposite. I initiate jump at full throttle and leave it that way. Upon arrival my throttle goes to 0% on it's own. I have to manually throttle up and it get's me every time. Dropping at a station and wondering why it takes so long to approach. Ah yeh... hard to approach when you have your throttle at 0...

Well, I may have missed some setting since I spent in game (since update) no more than an hour, need to look at it closer. But it's bit annoying.
