CHange Mat trader ratios now- we’re like servile sweat shop workers. No one else??????? So lame.

Working as intended- total game / ship stat reset, yeah!

Total change of Heart- I’ll be done full reengineer in. 4-5 days, I’m retired so FL#@3$%23#5@64&27364&3#5%K it.

Total game Reset!
Working as intended.
Costs time not credits- use Reddit.
#you downgraded me bro!

20% smaller fleet, %500 ship performance.

#kick stellar Forge ash.

I think I’m starting to feel like the disruptive kid at the back of the class.

I’ve ten ships to reengineer.
Re as in again.

Many people must enjoy the tedious mats scavenger hunt, I hear no complaints and it’s so mind numbing, even with the stellar forge, VR, amazing sound design- I’m hating it.

I know I’m in the minority but please
Please
Please
Some respect for those with a bit of gaming experience, 1000 hours in ED, and intellectual needs.
This is some dry futile scavenger hunt- make the ratios more favorable cause its mind death.

It’s like the game is becoming dumbed down for chimps.
Remember sonic patterns and clues and maps and challenge.

If you do like the mats search I’m going to give this Crime and Punishment system a workout on you ash.

So stupid , so boring it
Makes
Me laugh- then BARK!

If you don’t have something nice to say, you’re watching the news.

Who exactly forces you to play? Or use the system? You sound like you are chained to your HOTAS, and involuntarily collect those mats. DON'T.

Trade down, not up.

Can't you do one ship, fly around, take in the sights, shoot some stuffs, then go back and do another. It appears from here, that you are just torturing yourself. You can still use the legacy mods. Give yourself a break.

I've just come to that conclusion myself. I'm going to exclusively farm HGE's from now on. Haven't decided what the best way to farm g5 data is yet. Probably just hit every base in the bubble.

I had the full load of 1000 mats and still was frustrated, 1200 to 1 really?
Thought it was a bug.

Anyway, I’m squickety squawking cause they kissed me off.
I’m know they will let up, start hard and then when the tears come, ease up, cause you can’t go the other way-
They can kiss my ash.
Not having it, Yankee Mayhem is coming your way, lame frickers

LIving it the Cold north with shotguns and deer, chainsaws and beer may make one a bit sensitive to manipulation and ‘group think.’
But I’m not having it.
I’ll sacrifice one IMp Slaver for every sycophantic concessional compliant self limiting post, taking my grandma with me.
If they wont listen
Then they has to feel
Burn you lowly Imps
Burn baby burn

Ah, I feel better.

I was initially very put off by the intense mat requirements of the new system, and I posted as much several times.

I just kitted out a Chieftain and found a couple of workarounds.

1) Bring a fat ship to a res zone with collector limpets and an slf. Kill and clean up on manufactured mats.
2) Go mining and collect element mats.
3) Farm only top tier mats since as Vindelanos says the down trades are very favorable.
4) Grab all top tier mat missions you can find, CIF, MEF, Biotech, etc.

Doing these things will reduce your pain. Yes, there is pain. The pay off though is ridiculous, the top end stats are ridiculous.

I was g5 on all my ships on my primary and secondary account, and it is easily possible to blow away the previous collective power of my fleets with the new engineers.

All true,
I llike exploration, long distance missions, Thargoid and Guardian relic content when not too scripted-

not cruising for USS and farming mats in the SRV- yes it’s my problem but why hang such a crucial part of the Ship flying game on the most banal free to play candy crush screens and rng?
I am lured in by the Stellar forge- oo- aah! and then the ‘all red’ material trader screens- All ReD.
Ugh

I’ll see myself out.

Is this an open letter or a final plea? And yes, you do sound like a disruptive kid... Maybe you should threaten to hold your breath while you're at it...

The design addresses nothing that was wrong with the first version of Engineers.

That's not true.

I believe the original criticism was the possibility that you could create, say, a G4 mod' which was superior a poor G5 mod, and this was the result.

Which is a bit like "fixing" a creaky floorboard by blowing up your house with dynamite.

Personally, I didn't really mind that it was possible to have a G4 mod' that is superior to a poor G5 mod'. It makes sense that the grades would have some overlap.
Sure, the complete randomness of the old system could be a PITA and the new system solves that.
Quite why they decided to also add hours of tedious grind for every mod' is anybody's guess though.
I do also understand that having guaranteed improvements could dramatically shorten the path to a "god roll" but that could easily have been mitigated by just having smaller improvements with each roll.

Again, that's like deciding to fix a squeaky floorboard and then, while you're at it, also deciding to modify your house so that the only way to gain entry is via a 20 mile long underground tunnel filled with flamethrowers and razor-wire.

That's not true.

You are of course, entitled to your opinion and maybe even your imagination for that matter, however.

Understanding is a triple edged sword, as they say. So let's try it a different way.

1./ "Engineers is brilliant, nothing wrong with it now, totally a joy to play, completely improved."

2/. "Engineers is an utter nonsense, still grindy, boring and completely devoid of fun prior to outcome"

The truth would be somewhere between 1.1 and 1.9.

Rather than 2.2. ;)

This was happening pre-update, from the first moment Beta dropped. Dump anything grade 1, grade 2. Focus on 4 and 5. Then trade down. If you come across a disgusting drop rate for a grade 5, farm it and trade sideways (so you can then trade down). I hear yelling bingo! occasionally, helps with the immersion.

Sandy has basically stacked the deck. Best use of time? Rares and very rares. Horde those; then trade. And marvel at the time you get back. It's virtually impossible to collect 82+ sulphur in the same time it takes to get one, just one, equivalent very rare, as an example.

Watching your dawning realisation has been a bit amusing. I am sorry, but a lot of this was recognised early on, and I think even Sandy knows there's only so much he can do with this. I'd have a beer with you one day, all the same. o7

The truth would be somewhere in the middle. Closer to which one do you think?

I take it you've never heard of the "Argument to Moderation" fallacy?

Personally, I'd say it is #2.
How close that is to #1 would depend on how much joy and brilliance you can find in boring, grindy activities deviod of fun.

Aaah, now that's the truth of the matter.

I guess you must have missed my posts in the Forgotten Feedback forums if you think this is a "dawning realisation" for me.

The only part I didn't really expect was that they'd nobble the RNG to negate our ability to make use of the mat' traders to help speed things along.
That was pretty low.
