New C&P rules really ruin the game for PvE and mission followers: PvP relatively unaffected

The ruling Faction A in System A wants you to do a scan mission against Faction B.

You scan and gain a bounty from Faction B and go back to the station to hand the mission in but wait ... you’re now Wanted and risk being scanned and killed or station killed by the very station that handed you the mission? Worse, since the new patch you can’t even dock in the very station that you got the mission from until you fly off somewhere else and clear your fine?

Why aren’t I only wanted by the Faction B gang?

The only missions you can do now are effectively without snagging a fine are data / passenger delivery, mining etc.

It seems all the C&P has done is restrict PvE players activities rather than the PvP which was the original intention.

Correct me if I’m wrong please but as someone who doesn’t PvP I find the new C&P more restrictive against me than PvP gankers etc which it was designed to be for.

It’s been overthought without listening to the issues or understanding them and, for me at least, it’s almost a game breaker: not just the game issues themselves but also that I don’t have faith FDev actually understand the challenges or consumers that play the game.

I agree with OP. It's like using a cannon to kill a mosquito. Bye bye scan missions... too much hassle. It's not like I killed someone. A fine would be better for scan missions. I'm starting to think that part of the design team are masochists!

Hasn't effected me much at all. Do the Scan mission, get the bounty, pop in to a nearby Interstellar Factor & clean my ship......still enjoy a whopping big profit. Of course, if I wanted to really test C&P, I'd keep one ship purely for criminal acts & leave it at an Anarchy when not in use. Easy as.

OP, you mention you're not a PvP player, but you seem to be making a generalisation that it categorically isn't working for PvP.

Isn't it a little early to judge its worth against gankers?

Got a bounty on my head twice since 3.0 kicked in. The first time I just bought a sidey and handed in the mission. The second time I just paused what I was doing, went to the closest system with IF, which was like right around the corner, cleaned the ship and was back doing my thing in something like 5 minutes.
Doesn't seem to be much of an issue at all.

Maybe it's not much of an issue, but is't "one more thing" that we have to do to complete things that were working perfectly ok before. Don't they test the things they create?

And to tell you the truth, what bothers me most is that it's me that makes these comments. I love this game, I bought it last March and I've not played anything else since. Every day! (with some exceptions...). I expected something better. Not this grind, grind, grind. Every time they say they'll give us something better, I'm afraid of what they'll take away.

It's Crime & Punishment, not PVP Crime & Punishment.

It's not like the mission descriptions don't tell you that it may be illegal...

Prior to C&P, 'crime' in the game was an honorary title only. How would you know it's a criminal act? Because it told you so. Now, you know you're engaged in a criminal act... Exactly what was needed

I don't think it's mentioned as illegal. End, even so, why not a fine of the same amount instead of a bounty? In my case, I have to jump 3 systems away for a IF with large pad. WHY???

Planetary scan missions with no illegal flavour text have been sending players randomly to private and public datapoints for some time. Not sure if this has been acknowledged as a bug or not, but the new CnP has rendered those missions way more hassle than they're worth, overnight.

I have to surprisingly admit, I kind of like having to visit Interstellar Factors to "clean the ship" before going to turn the mission in. For me it gives doing criminal activity a new flavor, a different routine than a non-criminal activity. Yes it's less convenient than 2.4 was, but then I feel like crime used to be too convenient anyway.

Eh, so far I think I'm okay with C&P in 3.0, from a purely PvE point of view.

I'm glad you're enjoying it, I used to, too.
Now that crime and none criminal actions and mission exist, but really, you may need to relegate yourself to legal activities only, until you're more able to deal with the repercussions of crime. After a while, you get better at wearing a bounty (being a CRIMINAL) ... You don't have to immediately jump three-whole-jumps (OMG) to remove it.

It is a new gameplay mechanic and makes you think about what you are doing and what are the consequences. I really like where things are heading.

I personally think they didn't think the planetary scan missions through. It's too much hassle now, as Aashenfox said, above. I mean the personal data beacons. I'm not talking about ganking or attacking other players for no reason. If I can get a fine for "reckless firing" in a CNB, why do I get a bounty for scanning a beacon?
