Taking a moment to thank Frontier for their efforts.

The internet is full of rabid jerks.

it is, but if you are complaining about some behavior you dislike on this forum and then go on with that expression you are implicitly painting anyone coarsely fitting that definition (who decides?) in those terms. which is the old straw in the other's eye, and also a generalization dividing people by their opinions and expression, which in turn promotes polarization, which kills discussion. disliking some opinion or the way it is put forward doesn't automatically mean it is actually bad or wrong, and much less that the author is a jerk. nobody is a complete rabid jerk, and nobody is a saint either, so it's best to leave all those subjective judgmements about people outside, and i would be specially wary about group designations. they are toxic and detrimental not to actually anyone in those imaginary groups, but the whole community. i find troy_mclure's argument has a point, not aimed at you personally but at the inconsistency in the opinion you put forward, related to yet another common phenomenon around here: valid criticism being derided and derailed by polite swarms. we can all learn something. even ... 'you saints who never never ever said the f-word, and have a monomolecular layer of skin'. see what i did there? :p

Nobody specifically.

throwing the stone and hiding the hand behind the back? tsk! :D

Aye! Many thanks to Frontier for such a great game! I like to criticize them and play at armchair game designer as much as the next forum-goer, but I wouldn't bother to spend the time doing so if I didn't already enjoy the game so dang much. So thanks!

Hat tilted to FDEV. I can be a cynical TWA teepot, but at the end of the day, the game we have is still unique, has many cutting edge USPs, and will always be inspiring.

Nod of respect to Sandy, and the design team that do make themselves known on the forums. Not one person doesn't respect that. Wish I could swing by and buy a round of drinks. (i'm serious btw). [yesnod]

I thanked them for their efforts when I bought the game. Watching them ruin the game to something beyond playable is not something I will thank them for. I dont see where you think they listen to their players, they didnt listen to any of the backers when they announced a game that they never developed and instead developed their own vision while ignoring everything the players asked for.

Frontier has a LONG way to go to get the game back into a shape I will play again. Other games will come out that will far surpass Elite and I am willing to wait for them.

I've waffled on about this in other parts of the forum. I waited 30 years for this game and it is so much more than I could have imagined. Sure, I have times when I get frustrated by bugs and what not, but on the whole I flippin love this game. Added to that I think the community is the best I have ever encountered. Have had such great times at the couple of gatherings I have been to. So I am more than happy to say again, Thank you FDev for all your efforts and also 07 cmdrs!

Thanks you Frontier for providing more than just a game
it's been now almost 4 years and I still enjoy every bit in the galaxy

Sure, things could be different, some better, some worse
but overall i think it's a success

ED is not for everyone, you just need to know that before you start

Im just returning from a nebula-VIP mission. Total profit including data will be around 25 million, which pays almost half of all my insurance claims combined during the last 3+ years and 2000+ hours.

All this "I dont have the time to grind enough credits for thargoids!" complaining is just nonsense.

I want to say, I was very skeptical of the new engineering system before the beta and during beta1, and I'm still not 100% happy, especially with the increased mat requirements and the unchanged mat grind RNG, but the way it ended up in 3.0 isn't all that bad.

I actually really like 3.0 in general, one of the best updates IMO so far, with some hiccups, but also a tons of improvements. I like the new mission reward system even if there still are some problems with it, I like the increased Rep and Inf rewards, the new planets look awesome, and the C&P system looks very promising, works well in general but may need some tweaks here and there (maybe some bounties converted to fines etc).

All in all I'm really happy with the game right now, even if I'm often very critical.
Maybe it's because I stopped caring about credit exploits long ago, that ship has sailed shortly after release.

Great stuff, Frontier!!

Hats off to FD - some aspects of the game have always been great, improvements come with time and I can live with the few things I don't think work so well. I spent most of my adult life hoping for a modernised version of the original (by far my favourite game growing up) and FD have totally delivered that. The different communities around the game make a huge difference too, long may it last.

Been playing ED since Premium Beta.
Still playing, still loving it.
What are these "other games" of which you speak? I know them not.

Lol! I'm in the same boat mate! I didn't get onboard until 2015, but all my other previously well played games have taken a back seat to ED, unless we have gone 6 months without an update, whereas I do start looking for something else to play.

In the last two years the only other game I turn to is No Man's Sky. Their last update was pretty impressive and kept my attention for 3 months. That was the longest I have ever been away from ED for an extended period of time.

But it was right in the middle of the 2.4 update drought, so it worked out well for me. :)

I think the updates and new content in 3.0 have been excellent! The new Engineers is lightyears superior to the 2.4 version, and the material inventory expansion along with the traders has really opened things up.

The new Guardian sites despite being initially bugged were a nice addition, and now that those have apparently been fixed, I plan to head back out there to the original three this weekend.

Its all good!

In my opinion, the bulk of the whiners and doom sayers are from the "Everyone Gets a Trophy" generation. As a result, their worldview has been so distorted with that over the top entitlement, that nothing will ever please them. I blame my generation for raising a generation of Veruca Salts. ;)

Yes thank you Frontier. I really do appreciate the continued work on the game.
I apologise for any negativity it's just that I respect your views on player progression about as much you respect your players time.

That said, I love the game, and even the community who despite being pretty messed up on a lot of fronts, is one of the most active and passionate of all the games I play (far more active in fact and with a lower overall player-base, which says a lot).
I enjoy the live streams, and get a good (hippie-style) vibe from all of you. I respect Will, always playing in Open, even though he knows there are so many out to get him.

Dav is very cool, and ya mods are ok too ;)

Please consider risk v reward v time investment going forward, and maybe some ways for late game players to make more credits...

Hearts and kisses ya.

I switched from being a PC gamer to console, then ED came out for PC, ugh, I switched to soon.
Then ED came to Xbox One, the day it was released was the moment I traded in my Xbox 360 for the One.
Now I have the Xbox One X, bought purely for ED.

No other game ever would've made me buy a new platform, or two new consoles for that matter, ED did and it's totaly worth it.

I've played the original Elite in 84 on my C64 and have been dreaming for a remake with the technology of today.
FD realized that and I'm forever grateful for that.
Yes there are features I would like to see different and I don't shut up about those either, that's however not because I don't like ED or what Fdev is doing.
In contrary, It's because I care so much about it, ED is and will always be my number one game, I simply love it.
Every update adds features that enhance my enjoyment playing ED, I can play exactly the way I want too, no holding hands, no linear gameplay with just so many options to play, ED offers complete freedom of playstyle, simply awesome.

ED is the only game in it's kind that exactly fits my playstyle, there are other good games out there like Starpoint Gemini Warlords but ED fits me like a glove.

The effort Fdev is showing and their pride and love for ED is clearly visible when you play, the way things look and sound, the enormous complexity of it all, ED is not your every day shooter that's for sure.

There is an abundance of salt flying around and sometimes I add a couple pinches too but imho the positive aspects outweigh the negative by miles.

Thank you Frontier for your effort, for presenting me the game of my dreams, a dream that started back in 1984.

I feel like the money I've spent is thanks enough lol.

Personaly I think my thank you would be rather meager.
Let's say I spent 200 euros on ED and several store items, then I divide that by the number of hours I played, somewhere around 1800, that would be 11 cents per hour.
Let's throw in a new Xbox One and a Xbox One X, total 1000 euros, that's 55 cents per hour.
Mind you, my kids use the consoles too, a lot.

Hmm, maybe I should buy that Chieftain ship kit after all:D

None that I'm aware of. To be fair, of course, I likely play the game fairly differently than others, or at least I can only presume so. I play the game as a survivalist of sorts and haven't lost a ship in the game since 3301 (2015) and only 5 ships total so far.

I'm not saying one way is right or wrong, but I do manage to get along well for myself in the game.

For the first year or so I only played in Open, but now I play in all mods, but generally in private groups. For me, what it comes down to is I'm not always playing the same sort of game as others, if you know what I mean.

There is a contrast between the PVP meta and playing the game for what it's worth at face value to me. I'm not really into the PVP meta, but if I were, I would do things a little differently. In general, I'd rather not, so maybe there is some discrepancy there with how Frontier have implemented the ship capabilities in the game. For me, ideally, other players are just sort of part of the Environment. A lot of that changed since the Engineers were introduced.

Some people have moved on to the PVP meta since then, some of those I highly respect, but for me, well, I'd rather play the game as a whole instead of that sort of more narrow framework.

I do want to thank Fdev for their work love this game. And over all their is now chance I will be jumping ship anytime soon their is so much to this game and learn and exsprance more almost everyone I play I like the fact that I know I can't quite beat the game in six months. Keep up the good work and keep rolling out the improvements and keep this game the best space Sim it can be
