Let me get this straight

Unfortunately even doing it 1000 would still not result in a use able weapon for my eagle - I don't mind some weapons to be only available for medium+, but all new weapons since the AX?

So no reason to do the missions atm (although I'll probably do one or two when time permits, they sound interesting)

Yep. I visited a site. Unlocked the ball. I said, "That's nice. Kind of reminds me of when I activated the Thargoid map. Been there done that. What's next?" I think Starfire really hit the nail on the head with the very clear representation of how the animation/site mechanic is being milked beyond it's maximum capacity of player tolerance. I respect you grinders that have built multiple pieces of Guardian tech. I have laundry to do and I need to wash my car though. GL HF.

Nah, it's more effective to fly around the different sites. Makes money from exploration and Guardian Weapons are pretty sweet.
I put two Guardian Plasma Chargers on my iCourier: fully charged the made an eagle explode in two shots and will drop the shields on a Dangerous NPC Python.
At least until someone complains and they're nerfed. ;)
Can't wait to get engineering for them!

I thought engineering for Guardian stuff was removed. I remember reading that the guardian power plant engineering was removed. I could be mistaken, tho.

@Grafton!!! Grafton!!

Oops wrong forum.

If it's 6 hours of OCD-reset-the-instance-get-it-asap activity, doesn't that probably translate into *months* of doing nothing but derp around Guardian Sites if you're doing it semi-organically? I mean, realistically would a normal player *ever* acquire the required materials through 'normal' gameplay?

Seems like this kind of content is balanced specifically with min-maxers in mind.

As someone who generally plays the game or tries to "as the devs intended" being very grind averse and trying to sample everything the game has to offer... I've accomplished practically nothing since the game launched except for buying some ships. The only way to achieve anything at the high end (ranked ships, alien puzzles, engineering and so on) is to play it "wrong" by grinding, relogging, abusing gold rushes, using third party tools etc.
This is ultimately the fault of the game designers, and it could never be anything else. Playing the game the way they imagine is basically kneecapping yourself and there's no reason to do it beyond the mind numbing monotony and repetition of the alternatives. A good idea isn't worth spit if the end result of the implementation is the game basically telling you to play it wrong if you want to play it at all.

You don't. Haven't had a gun on my ship for years. Despite veiled warnings about 'not going out there unarmed', nobody has yet to report anything anywhere (thargs / Pleiades excepted). The Pilot's Federation in their wisdom have simply permit locked any area of space that could be dangerous and/or interesting.

Same here, and it has the added benefit that you can't accidently shoot anybody and get caught up in the C&P business. However having space a little more dangerous would be nice, at the moment the biggest danger out there is accidently bottoming out my exploration barge while landing in the dark

And that's a problem? I only ask because I have some ships as well. Just trying to figure out what else I have and the only thing that comes to mind is a sense of achievement. I certainly haven't done everything the devs put in the game, being way out in the black sort of makes it hard to rush back when a new thargoid is spotted but even if I was nearby I probably wouldn't bother. Visited a few megaships to have a look, dropped into one guardian ruin to see what he excitement was about, found lots of brain trees and fungus and a lot of volcanic activity, saw some nice stars, said hi to Sag A*, the turned around and went away.

My point here is not to belittle anyone or put down their achievements but is simply this, we generally achieve what we set out to achieve, we accomplish what we accomplish and if it's not the same as what the next person achieved or accomplished it's not important, what is important is that we enjoy ourselves doing it, that's why we're all here right?

You are wrong dude.

Guardian weapons have a poor damage against NPC's and PLayers,

They are desing to be anti-tharg

This is the thread we discuss about that:

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...ge-Seems-Wrong/page2?highlight=plasma+charger

To the OP: Only lose time unlocking thos stuff IF you fight against thars, other wise i'ts a HUGE time-sink. (Even if you're going to use it against thargs, i'ts still a HUGE timesink)

im obviously combat pilot, nothing near explorer, its quite boring to me, so im not gonna start do full time exploration just so i can do something i enjoy doing
then tell me..
what do explorers need weapons for?
I'm an explorer; I don't have any weapons at all, on most of my ships.

Here's the thing: It really looks like FD is trying to get players to use more parts of the game. They've done this in the past too, like trying to promote mining. Some of the things I'd like to get (via engineering) are locked behind combat. Since I don't enjoy combat, I'm in much the same predicament.

To some extent, their approach works: I don't usually use my SRV much, but I've been using it a lot lately, because: 1) I need more low-level materials for low-grade engineering and 2) our material limits have been raised substantially. I've actually had a blast tonight, zipping around and zapping rocks.

i took this post...

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/409810-Guardian-Blueprint-Bug

as a, go do it before it gets nerfed boys 'n girls.

Already fixed in 3.0.2:

Installations/POIs/USSs

Fixed instances of Pictograms not displaying correctly at Guardian Sites
Fixed some collision detection at a Guardian Site
Fixed issue where Guardian Blueprints could be incorrectly obtained by scanning a codex

That was a huge bug that some cmdrs used and is no longer active. Now I just started to unlock the weapons but I gave up after doing it 5 times because I can't just sit and relog over and over and do the sphere scan. I started playing other games on my Vr and will give it a break until I can bring myself to do it again

The new guardian weapons..

You need 8 segments, you get 1!!! per completed puzzle, if you want at least 3 weapons, you need 24, and in the end, you can get another random 2 other mats you dont want from completing these.
So Fdev expects me to do nothing for a week just keep relogging at ancient ruin site if i want to get 3 weapons... am i correct ?

The Grind Is In Your Mind. :)

Don't lose your time commander, all the tech broker content for now are useless aside the guardian weapons against thargs.

Tech brokers sells only outdated stuff right now: Poor status and non-enguinnerable.

Well no, I assume they expect you to collect the required number of parts over multiple visits to multiple sites and then create your weapons when you've acquired enough parts through 'normal' gameplay.

Obviously some people will do that, whilst others will have stopped doing anything else in the game until they have collected what they need for them. That's the problem when you're designing game content for a broad range of players; different people will place different priorities on different aspects of it.

Note - I'm not saying you're wrong to want to go pick up your new Guardian weapons asap, blaze your own trail and all that, but to say 'FDev expect me to spend a week relogging' is really a bit silly. It's probably more the case that 'FDev are resigned to the fact that some players will inevitably....' :D

If people approach the game only caring for what they need to unlock this or that, they will always end up grinding no matter which game. Getting your hands on Guardian weapons takes this many parts. The price you pay is either an extended tour through the Guardian ruins and collect the parts while doing so, or keep relogging and grind.
I am not sure how many parts I have now, but I think I should have at least 10 by now. Funny thing is: I don't even want the weapons. I am doing the the Guardian stuff because it's fun and I enjoy the atmosphere. :D

To shoot the guardian pillars of course.

Indeed, in trying to complete the Decrypting the Guardians Mission for Ram Tah, I incidentally came back and could unlock the fixed Gauss Cannon, Fixed Plasma Charger and the Power Plant, which was a nice bonus since I ended up not completing the mission

Was that before they fixed the sites, giving away too many blueprints?

I was left with the feeling that the only way to win was not to play at all, - it's not a good use of my time, and not something that, for me, is remotely enjoyable in terms of grinding.

Got Gauss Cannon 20mins
——-no logging at all

You completed the puzzle 5 times in 20 minutes with no relogging?

Or you got in there before the bug was squahed giving BP segments off obelisk scans?

No way your getting the puzzle done 5 times in 20 minutes wothout relogging

At the active sites you can do the puzzle some 4-5 times without logging. As many crystals as there are is how many times you can do it, and the skimmers don’t respawn. Just do the puzzle, kill the skimmers, and then repeat the puzzle once you get another crystal.
