As for the OP, welcome to open. It's not that bad once your comfortable in your flying boots. Just keep your head on a swivel around GC's, engineers' bases, ancient ruins, etc.

They have a point, I know of at least one other person (not me) who is an apex predator in pretty much any PvP game they choose to play BUT they specifically avoid Open for the reason that they do not want to have to be bothered with certain types of PvPer who think they have skillz.
@All: On a side note, if you are targeted by a true griefer or someone combat logs on you then report them - the reporting tools are only effective if people actually use them.

There are good PKers and bad PKers and medium PKers in the galaxy. Once I had a player that was obviously looking for easy kills CL on me in super cruise, just because I started following him(I was just curious, what he was up to).
I appreciate all kinds. It would be sad if PvP was reserved for just the top players.
I would like to see more of these 'local terrorists', that hangs out in systems far from hot spots and give give me little surprises.
Ignore the stuff about Open being the real game and (e.g.) Mobius being a cut-down version of it, because it's straightforwardly untrue.
In Open two CMDRs meet and spend 5 seconds eyeing each other suspiciously and deciding who needs to run. In Mobius two CMDRs meet and say "o7", then maybe chat about what they are doing, exchange tips on trade routes, talk about the game, talk about the weather etc. It depends what kind of game you want; I regard Open as a cut-down version of Mobius.

I remember my second day here in a sidewinder...got into a chat with a pair of chaps who claimed to be from mobius...just meet up outside the station easy peasy.
Long story short, they werent from mobius...they belonged to a particularly well known pvp group who laughed about the fact they were betting against each other on my reaction. Would I rage quit or clog or lose the temper. It appeared to annoy them that I just laughed...no idea why but they told me to git gud or go solo or go play minecraft...and some other things I cant repeat.
So I went solo, fer two years...and since then all the pvprs have done is cry rivers of tears about solo mode and why its so unfair. Its a fair assessment of the intelligence levels that they moan about something they originally supported...not the brightest pennies these guys. I know fer a fact at least one of them still plays in the same group...a group who claims not to play like that...hmm...is that what they say haha.
Nowadays I play in open and just ignore them entirely...still go to solo when in busy spots cis thats what open is...99% boredom and 1% omg Im gonna die in ten seconds flat to a pairs of lollipops. I know how to run and how to survive...since moving back into open, quite a few have tried...none have succeeded...not yet anyway. Ive had torrents of abuse about being a coward fer not standing my ground and dieing like the good little content they expect me to be...been called names ye couldnt even begin to repeat on this forum....as on me second day here I do the same thing two years later...I just laugh at them and continue on with what I was doing and ignore them completely...just totally blank them even if they trying to sound friendly...cos thats just an act and a well played out act.

I didn't know apex predators did nothing but talked. I thought the point of being an apex predator was to show your walk.

They have a point though. Combat logging is cheating, no one is forcing anyone to play in open. If I want to be left alone and don't be on constant adrenaline, I play mobius.
If I play in open I take it and don't clog. Sure it's annoying as hell if you're getting shot up, but as I said, no one forces you to open.

You just said if you were Frontier, you would delete every report that came from an SDC member, thereby making it okay for people to cheat when encountering said SDC members.

OK, why?
Because you want to keep players not lose them so you have to prioritise what matters. A bunch of people who happily use every exploit and trick out there to cause misery and suffering to as many as possible aren't going to ever be chosen over newer players who you want to have a good and enjoyable experience, or indeed people who complain about others cheating when they cheat themselves.
It's pretty obvious really when you don't assume that you should be top dog.
