Open play trolls

You just said if you were Frontier, you would delete every report that came from an SDC member

TBF...if I was Frontier I'd simply "delete every report" FULL STOP
In what world would a software development house give two figs if someone switches their Computer off midway through a game session...

Yay! Another one of those threads to repeat all the nice and not nice things that have been said in the previous ones!

So here's my opinion: Gankers and "griefers" are just bullies. Getting a kick from frustrating people weaker than themselves is just pathetic. It's a game, so it's not quite as unsocial as on the schoolyard, but in the end it's just Kindergarten behavior.
Every once in a while they also shoot my exploration vessel, and sometimes I just throttle to zero and get a coffee. Sorry ganker guys, but I just can't take you serious. *pats head*

I still think that Power Play is a colossal missed opportunity for giving PvP players the player interaction and directed, meaningful PvP they (usually) say they want.

If it were anyone else, Id just turn back to itunes to find out where I put that old podcast I saved fer a rainy day...but as its SDC...want some popcorn?

Agreed, it is very hard to take anything they say seriously...with their history? Thats self inflicted...they sweet popcorn btw, I dont do salty makes me drink too much and I got issues going to the toilet...doc said I shouldnt lift anything heavy.

I have a feeling this thread will get locked as it degenerates as rapidly as this...some things never change ^

That's different from what you said isn't it. It's ok you can admit it.

No that is literally what you said. "If I were them [FDev] I'd have SDC's [reports] directed immediately to the trash."

...thereby making it okay for people to cheat when encountering said SDC members.

Nah not ok, didn't say that. You know I didn't.

You did. If you were a dev that had an open policy of ignoring reports from certain players, you'd be making an open invitation for people to cheat when encountering said players.

As it turns out, decisions have consequences and follow-on effects that, while not explicitly outlined in the original decision or statement, can often be a clear implication. The reality outside the official forum echo-chamber is a scary place, so I'll forgive you for failing to see that.

I still think that Power Play is a colossal missed opportunity for giving PvP players the player interaction and directed, meaningful PvP they (usually) say they want.

Yep, pretty much all of us are extremely disappointed in its implementation, especially given the huge potential it had.

That must be why 15 second danger timers are coded into many games - because it doesn't matter when players log out.

Spirit of the game be damned...

Yes that is what I said, however it doesn't say what you say it said.

Now try again - do it slowly if it's difficult - go through that word by word and maybe get someone to help you, see if you can see where anywhere it says that combat logging is OK.

It's not there is it.

You can admit that - it's OK. We understand the issues.

ROFL awww :D it's so cute. Yes yes it's terribly Dangerous and you're big scary and tough. Proper man yes. Seriously if you think this pixelflexing is going to do anything but make it more hilarious you've gauged this incredibly wrong

This is typically where you guys start threatening to run a campaign of misery until you get your way and everyone laughs again, switches mode and we're back to "Open should have a bonus because IT'S OPEN CAREBEARS"

I find it amusing how whenever threads like these appear, the most reasonable, balanced and sane posts are just about exclusively from the PvP folks, especially the more 'infamous' ones.

While the PvE advocates generally are the late-stage rabid, hyperbolic and highly unreasonable ones.

Most of us PVP types are fairly level headed and do really want a fair gameplay experience for all.

Yep, pretty much all of us are extremely disappointed in its implementation, especially given the huge potential it had.

What's worse is how little it adds to the game in its current incarnation.

It's literally a bunch of activities the game already had, but given the theme of a galactic power struggle. Deliveries, CZ fights etc. were nothing new, so it was literally all about the greater goal.

Players realise it's best won hiding within PG, and PP got brought down to the same level as the rest of ED...just another BGs struggle fought through activities we already had, with no real reward, and cries of utter hysteria when we suggest making it relevant in any way "becuz don't dare try make anything the game has make solo play feel less important!"

It's okay, just go do some poo hauling and stick a picture of Aisling Duval next to your screen - ya will get the same gameplay (y)

Where are you seeing any "late-stage rabid, hyperbolic and highly unreasonable" posts?

Can you provide an example - I can't see any in the last seven pages. I can see people "disrespectin'" and laughing but nothing like what you describe.

Only you won't have to shell out millions for the "privilege" of hauling the poo.

I must admit I don't begin to "fully understand" Elite PvP...coming as I do froma background in Flight Sims etc where Combat is an organic part of a game...rather than a "I'm going off to blow someone up...yay...done that! I'll go back to playing the game" diversion for bored players...
But feel free to explain to me the difference between...

Attack a Player...destroy them...you win!
Attack a player...they escape/evade...you win!
Attack a player...they Combat Log...you win!

Apart from the petty satisfaction of destroying someone who probably didn't want (or deserve in the sense of not being wanted/not pledged to a Power/not carrying cargo) to get into Combat with you anyway...what's the difference?

Personally, I just don't like cheating.

The difference is that combat logging...
-Negates the effect of rebuy
-Negates the effect of any lost missions, explo data, or bounty claims
-Negates the potential psychological effect of having your ship destroyed
-Betrays a lack of integrity and sportsmanship

As for your want and deserve statement, "want" and "deserve" have nothing to do with it. When you elect to play in Open you accept that you may be acted upon by other players, for better or for worse.

Personally, I just don't like cheating.

lol - Marra is better at brevity than I :)

That's a very flexible thing though. You'll find plenty of people ready to freak out at combat logging who are perfectly happy with board flipping for infinite cash or relogging at Dav's Hope for infinite mats.

There are even some people who used a cheat to give them G5 rolls for G1 mats - those people should of course be instabanned amiright?

Lol.

-Betrays a lack of integrity and sportsmanship

*sprays coffee over keyboard* lol!

Ah yes, because nothing says "active and welcoming Community" than stomping some poor new guy in a sidewinder in your g5 Engineered Corvette/Anaconda/FDL to give them the "the potential psychological effect of having your ship destroyed"

You can cherry-pick all you want, but it doesn't negate my point.
