Has it ever crossed your mind that there could be differences from platform to platform, as I have said repeatedly? I can find you as many HGE’s as I want, and of any kind that I want - but I’m on PS4. I take it your’re on PC? The difference in spawn rate from before 3.0 to now is huge, and I use the same method exactly. BUT, as I have said - I don’t doubt that they simply won’t spawn for some people. I don’t doubt that at all. Now please have the courtesy to not doubt that many of us can find them easily - for whatever reason.

I suppose it's possible, but I really DO doubt it. /shrug I have evidence supporting one thing and on the other hand, people of dubious scientific-ness (in my eyes, and that's not a personal dig at you, I don't know how scientific you are, I haven't seen enough of your posts) claiming something else. I have no reason to believe that things would be different on ps4, because historically, it's unlikely, so the burden of proof is on the console folks I'm afraid. You may well be right. It's definitely possible that there's some difference. Would be great if a dev could confirm if there are any code differences in this area.

Which right now came from another thread which directed folks to a Distribution Center in an anarchy system to scan wakes for DWE's. The RNG isn't giving me many DWE's but is sure is fun blowing up the T-9's there and and taking their mats.

Yeah I know I said I was done with the engineers but at least blowing up ships to take their stuff is WAAAAAYYYY more fun than blindly cruising a system with my left foot extended 30 degrees in hopes of finding an elusive HGE.

Treble RNG...what do you expect?! First you have to find a USS, then it has to be high grade...& finally in some cases - proto heat radiators is another similar example - the specific type of mat you need.

& since I created this meme, I never pass up the opportunity to use it...

In happier news (sorry!), yesterday I spent 40 mins looking for 'improvised components' to finish off my reinforced prismatics; I found 2 in the first 20 mins & with a slight tweak of my modus operandi, 'found another 11 (from 3 HGE's) during the remaining time...39 in total

Just a case report (in search of Improvised Components):

System: 37 Geminorum (single star)
Economy: Agricultural + Industrial
Population: ~6 billion
Controlling faction in Civil Unrest,
Method: ~2 kLs above the planetary plane, in deep space, 10% thrust (~5.5c)

Result: 4 HGE within 30 min (very uneven distribution, 3 in a row in the first 10 min, 1 more 15 min later)
I could be swimming in ICs by now, were it now for the very low drop count (3x3 ICs in the 1st USS, the rest of them dropped only 2x3 each).

Edit: one more HGE after 20 minutes with 4x3 ICs.
Experiment aborted due to pilot exhaustion. I cannot do it any longer.
But at least I don't have to leave empty-handed this time.

First of all, I didn't even realise you were trying to say that spawn rates are IMPROVED. lol. I'd agree that an HGE every 5-10 minutes is about right once you get the circumstances right.

In any case, that is the same rate at which I was finding HGEs in 2.4 (when the circumstances were right). The only thing that is missing is evidence of any difference in the ps4 rate prior to 3.0

Is it not possible that you are just better now at getting the circumstances and systems you choose, right?

I have a specific problem not finding Core Dynamics Composites. I have found so much Proto-stuff i can feed my cat with it and still have enough to engineer all my ships twice. And I got a lot of ships.

So if you could show that it´s no problem to find CDCs with your method I´d be a happy pilot. I don´t find any HGE I want at any time and I´m starting to feel depressed.

My video will help you when I upload it (sorry for the delay, potato internet here in Greece, I have to do this stuff overnight). I went to Kruger 60 on Friday night, specifically for CDCs (and got some, but not 'loads'). Ignore Inara's advice to look for CDCs in Boom systems, you want systems in state of 'NONE', to avoid diluting CDCs with PLAs, PRAs and PHRs. Every HGE in a Fed 'NONE' system will have a mixture of proprietary composites and CDCs.

I'm a lot of things, but I'm not delusional. Before kids I was a well known wow player and theorycrafter. On top of that I work in support and am a bad amateur developer (learning for 29 years and still rubbish, lol). This leads me to have an EXTREMELY analytical and logical mind, when it comes to addressing video game mechanics. I don't see HGEs or Supercaps, I see variables and probabilities.

I appreciate what you're saying, and of course at the end of the day it's a moot point, cos the current situation is an improvement on the old. Hence I too won't waste time arguing the toss with you.

Suffice it to say, I'm not one of 'them' who once set-off, doesn't stop until someone dies of frustration, nor do I waste my words with something I don't strongly believe to be the case.

Since you can no longer prove your side of the argument either, it seems rather impotent to be calling people who simply struggle with the likelihood, delusional, it doesn't lend extra credence to your position.

Well, I could provide you with more evidence, and if I wasn’t limited by the PS4’s built in record-and-upload function that limits the videos to 15 minutes I would have provided you with an hour long video. But it’s the end of that. It’s simply not worth it.

I have been an avid gamer for about 35 years, so I too have a bit of experience - and I have been a usenet user for many years too. STILL - I haven’t learned yet that a discussion like this shouldn’t affect my private life and my wife in any negative way - but it does. Yeah, I have been irritated, and that’s all on me of course. The RNG gods do not play nicely in v3 imo. I've found that the drop rate is quite poor and mission rewards for some of the more rare mats are non-existent. However, this tedious search for USS/wake/ship scan is considered gameplay. Having said that, I've found that the material brokers (data and manufactured at least) have helped immensely with regards to very rare mats.
