Speaking of mices...
I wish they made a right-handed version of this - I would try swapping out my mouse.

That would be interesting for sure. This is my current gamepad:

And this lovely thing that Truesilver turned me onto is what I'm saving up for later this summer:

I actually pledged, but canceled for similar concerns. It would have to be made very well for the extra tilt axis to both work well and last for any length of time. I don't see that as being very likely.
And the encroaching arthritis... there's always that. [knocked out]

That's some top quality overengineered rubbish right there, I bet it wouldn't survive running the gauntlet of spilt coffee and snack debris I use to protect the surface of my desk.

It was actually the Orb Weaver I was thinking of. I just grabbed the link quickly.
That was my concern when I saw the tilt axis bit.
It may turn out to be garbage, but I'm going to give it a try anyhow. Speaking of the Orbweaver, I've tried a number of different control methods before settling on this one. IMO, the keyboard/gamepad is better for flying in normal space, while HOTAS is more immersive in general, better in SC and overall less accurate for most people. Since 99% of what I do is fly combat related stuff, I stick with the gamepad, but if I were going on the DWEII I would almost certainly hook up one of my HOTAS options.
TIL: Using a mouse is min/maxing
Using a monitor is min maxing as well btw, you should aim using the sound waves of the enemy ship.
So how do you have it set up? Left hand on the keyboard, right hand on the pad? Vice Versa? No mouse? Mouse and keypad?
The way I envisioned it, I'd have my left hand on the keyboard, right hand on the pad with my thumb controlling roll-pitch... that is of course before I realized that the little joystick is on the wrong side for it.
Gamepad on the left of the keyboard, all buttons assigned to various combat related inputs, g502 mouse on the right of the keyboard which controls pitch/yaw and has buttons assigned to weapons and subsystems. The keyboard doesnt really get used much, other then to type in chat and a few unessential inputs. The thumbstick on the Orbweaver is assigned to pip management.

Sound is min-maxing. You should be playing by ticker-tape readout.
Being alive is min-maxing.
True story.
I know this is a gaming forum, but you don't have to call everyone here fat. [knocked out]
