Open play trolls

As a suggestion, that's fine.

But we should also be mindful that blowing people up is an accepted part of the game. Being abusive over comms is not.

Is it? What if I role-play a pilot with Turret's syndrome?
What happened to "playing my own way" now?
This community just swings as the wind blows, lol.

This does not prove a thing Harry and it has nothing to do with you. I've seen some of your videos. You seem to have ok aim and excellent situational awareness and tactical abilities.

All in all a good package for a combat player.

The problem is that in ED, anyone with can get a kill count like this. Even a k/d ratio would be meaningless to display player quality.

When I say anyone can do this, I mean anyone.

Just build a ship that has the strength to survive 15 seconds of heavy attacks and off you go. Kill those that can't harm you and log on any potential risk.

ED does not have the game mechanics for competitive PvP. Players have to apply a certain element of RP to make it work. Some kind of 'code of conduct' is necessary.

Being an 'Apex predator' is a 'title' that is given within social ramifications of a group. It takes more that a kill count.

Aped Predators tend to be the most deadly the kill count shown proves this beyond doubt, so the image is 100% relevant.

Also if ANYONE could get a kill count like this, why am I the only one with this kind of count? I have the highest kill count by far in the entire games player base, also logging out does not get you a kill so I fail to see the relevance of that in regards to getting a kill count to increase.

Nah. You'd need more data - ratio of kill events to fails, and ideally nature of foes - was it really combat or just fly swatting etc.

From further away the sharing of player kill counts is the saddest thing in the whole game. With no proper competitive mechanisms it's meaningless and even more of a joke than people boasting they're King now.

You like playing the victim, don’t you?

Some people can't help it even when they come to games to try.

Nobodies defending being abusive over comms.

I'm making the totally amazing suggestion that when you are nice to people they are nice in return and that the opposite is also true. If you choose to behave in the game in a way that might get on peoples nerves you should probably try to cultivate a thicker skin rather than crying about it on the forum.

Being killed by another player in a game that allows PvP isn't a justification for abusive chat imo, no matter how frustrating that feels.. Better to drop a gg or gf and maybe earn a bit of respect instead.

In my experience, the Elite: Dangerous community in-game are extremely benign and super friendly. Abuse over comms is a rarity, whereas in most other games I play it's the norm.

Being abusive over comm's is covered by the ToS.. nothing to do with the community.. making light of Tourette's not particularly cool either.

... and being abusive using ingame mechanics is fine? What a fantastic dichotomy.
Oh, and don't for one second suggest I'm making fun of Turret's syndrome cause that's just low.
It was only an extreme example to make a point so put your slimy tactics back in the drawer, where they belong.

Ugh. Listen, Frontier has went out of their way several times and said you get to be the bad guy in this game.

What you people dont get to do is be a toxic muffin when it happens. You post on these forums every day for quite sometime right? So you know whats going on.

Stop trying to justify out of game behavior on these forums and elsewhere when people get blown up.

When you do try to play this game correctly, and you do have the chance to stop someone thats completing an opposite goal or objective than you. YOU SHOULD NEVER get threatened with insults, or being berated on the forums.

I have never seen so many people whine and cry over getting shot in a video game. And the thing is what you are saying here. Is you are justifying that toxicity.

Allowing people to sling insults at people that do shoot one another. So you know what most of the players did that does PVP. They went to places like GCI meet ups, players created the PVP hub instead of dealing with crap like this.

Im going to tell you one last time. Stop justifying toxicty over basic gameplay.

You know that whole doves enigma thing. You know what I am going to remember the most out of that? The toxicty that came from the community over basic gameplay. And because of that UA bomber, that Event got more traction than it would have any other way. But instead you had people foaming at the mouth calling each other names.

Thats what I am going to remember.

Its a bunch of crap and it really needs to stop.

Justified and understandable are different things. Not being able to understand why people would be upset or sympathise with their feelings isn't a flattering thing. Justified and understandable are different things.

I suspect earning respect from their attacker would be the very lowest priority on their list - understandably.

When people say this it makes me think their experience of the world must be truly tiny and shallow - you should see how upset vast numbers get over ball games they weren't even playing themselves.

It's all subjective really, depends on the person..

I know that already, I'm not sure why you think it's relevant.

"You people" ?.

Yes I know exactly what's going on, you are complaining about what you imagine I think whilst ignoring what I actually wrote.

Nobodies justifying being abusive in comms in-game, let alone out of game shenanigans.

When you do try to play this game correctly, and you do have the chance to stop someone thats completing an opposite goal or objective than you. YOU SHOULD NEVER get threatened with insults, or being berated on the forums.

Define "correctly".

The game has a block function, and the forum has an ignore function. If your feelings are getting hurt you should just use them and not worry about it.

You are going to need to source me ever having done either of those.

Again you need to source this, which I imagine is why you are saying it "for the last time" as we both you know you can't.

Doves enigma is an enigma to me. It's almost like you have a giant list of things you are sulking about and you can't separate the people who did/said those things from random forum users like me.

Nobodies defending being abusive over comms.

I didn't accuse anyone of doing that. I said we should be mindful about it.

I'm making the totally amazing suggestion that when you are nice to people they are nice in return and that the opposite is also true. I wholly agree about cultivating a thicker skin about stuff that happens in video games, and not crying about it on the forum.

Still, abusive comms is against the EULA that we all agreed to.

It's against the ToS, EULA and whatever else in just about every multiplayer video game. Doesn't matter, getting abuse from others in a competitive environment is par for the course.

Absolutely - that's why you've gotta cut people some slack. Failing to do so at all doesn't reflect well on anyone. Games are meant to be fun after all
Actually that's pretty much what I'm saying.. If someone kills you in a game.. cut them some slack, it's a game, it's allowed..
Personally if someone smack talks me in a game (any game) I don't react, because yes, I understand some people get frustrated by things that happen, in a game..
