Finally! (thanks to 3.0) I have a Corvette...(now with vid in post 110)

The Class 3 Belly Mount Slot is a perfect location for a Plasma or Rail Gun. So you can have the advantages of both high powered Gimbaled Beams and a solid fixed weapon fully charged and useable at the same time.

I fitted an G5 Overcharged PA in that slot after stumbling across a piece of advice that you gave elsewhere on the forum. It’s devastating on the rare occasion that I actually manage to hit anything – I’m probably achieving a 20-25% hit rate at the moment. [haha] Practice I guess.

Yay so thanks to 3.0 now all of us that worked hard for the vette and grinded r way there 3.0 is now holding your hand to give you more rep and allowing all these noobs to get a ship that should have been worked for not handed out.
could you add more salt please?

Having a Corvette, and having the guts to use it in Open, is two very different things.

Do you have both?

When it's finished, oh yes. It's a billion credit ship, so 50m rebuy, and I don't grind credits. But yes, I'll still be in open, as long as I have the rebuy. With about 10,000 effective mj of shields and about the same effective armor (5000 with near 50% resists), I can't see anyone stopping me from running away, tbh.

We'll be waiting for you.

Fear is the only thing that makes you scared. Without Fear, you are unstoppable. But not infallible.

I fully expect a nerf to mission rep rewards, people should make hay while the sun shines, I'll be taking the Corvette to Empire space and get the Cutter done soon before it happens.

Just a heads-up... The Imperial slog for the Cutter is MUCH worse than the Federation rank for the Corvette. Not sure how much that has changed since I did it a few years ago, but for whatever reason they are not identical.

10,000 MJ in shields?

Something seems off here...either you have no heat sinks/other things and all your boosters are HD ( a terrible mistake)

Or your numbers are off....

FWIW, I got two Vettes (since 3302) and finally fitted both small hardpoints with long-range beam turrets (rest gimballed or fixed). They don't add much to the overall DPS anyway, but can keep the nimbler targets busy, are perfect target trackers (particularly useful in VR) and can reach out several (IIRC nearly 5) km if a faster enemy tries to get away and often ensures to get the kill credited in NPC fights. PvE only for me, ofc.

6 HD boosters, 2 6A cells. 64% average resist (3 sys pips) is about 10k effective shield health according to old engineering values so it'll be even more. You reckon I'm better off with reinforced shields and resistance boosters? Why? Because of the weight? Doesn't make a huge difference on the Vette as far as my experimenting has shown me in Coriolis, but do enlighten me if I'm missing something.

Thanks for the heads up.

It is the same as the Fed slog now. I cranked out my last 4 ranks for Imps in 2 days. It is ridiculous how easy it is the rank up now. It is almost insulting.

Cool! Glad you took advantage of this often overlooked fixed weapon hard point! :D

As far as improving your hit rate... You just need to pay very close attention to the weapon's reticle. It is very effective at identifying the best moment to pull the trigger and involves leading the target most of the time.

I know a lot of pilots don't pay any attention to that targeting aide because its all clustered up with all the other reticles, but I totally do. My hit rate is around 75 to 85% or higher, but I have been running with this load out for years now. I put the 4A Beams on Firegroup 1 and the Plasma on Firegroup 2 with the Turreted MCs.

Once the turrets are activated they don't need any further input, so essentially the FG2 trigger is my Plasma Fire button. :)

I 've been using a corvette pretty much from when it was released. I have tried various loadouts including a bi-weave loadout, but i always come back to the same one and i only switch a set of weapons if i wanna go to a RES or a conflict zone.

Personally i think there is absolutely no reason to fit turreted weapons with good dirty drives. i send the npc fighter to deal with small ships, but its not even necessary.

The following is the loadout for some pvp and also works like a charm to go alone and kick some b on the new assasignation missions.
2 X efficient huge PAs, 3 double shot incediary frags and a small pair of LR feedback cascade rails. It also includes the standard reinforced prismatics, 4 banks (i pop 7A and 6A together (5 sec delay) with a sink and then activate 7A with 5A) along with 2 heat sink launchers engineered for extra ammo.
Armor is reactive and goes with one thermal HRP to balance the resistances a bit (rest HRPs are HD). 3 X HD boosters and 3 X augmented.

When i want to go on a res or on a conflict zone, i simply switch on my 2 X huge OC incediary multis, a large beam with regeneration sequence for wingmates, and just put the rest stock pulses (lazy i know), everything on gimballed mount.

My tip: For pve, just dont waste pips on system, just boost and turn that beast like there is no tomorow :D

And here is an old video to show that a corvette can probably delete stuff around it in a CZ, faster than the spawn rate . (Weapons i had back then were pretty weak)

I also fit a collector with some cargo for materials some times..

Ngalinn <-> Mainani, data courier missions.

See the comments. 0% Marquis to Duke + 69% in about an hour, did the entire rest at Achenar and was finally tired of the grind. Rank missions are delivery ones too.
