Finally! (thanks to 3.0) I have a Corvette...(now with vid in post 110)

It is the same as the Fed slog now. I cranked out my last 4 ranks for Imps in 2 days. It is ridiculous how easy it is the rank up now. It is almost insulting.

WOW! That is unbelievable! :O

Things have definitely gotten much easier than back in the day. But having never been a fan of rank locked ships, I really can't complain that newer players have had a much easier road to hoe than I and all the other ED vets had. :)

Whats your actual shield strenght?

Don't know yet, Coriolis doesn;t have the new engineering values. With biggest A shield and old booster values (old best boosters), it's about 3800 I think, so I'm expecting probably around 4500 with new engineering.

Understatement of the century. :) Most of it has been for the better though, it was a little 'too' punishing back in the day.

Correct, slight variations aside thats more or less what im sitting on right now.

Yeah my Fed ranks took me months to unlock Rear Admiral. I wasnt in a rush to do the Imp Rank Climb and was just doing it here and there, but when 3.0 dropped and saw how easy it was to finish it. I knocked out in 2 days with maybe 3 hrs put into it each day. Lets just say I own a Cutter now also...lol

Maybe they're size 7 after all. lol, doh. I don't have the build in front of me right now, but coriolis still has old engineering values anyway, so it's a poor indication.

I highly recommend going with DUAL 7A SCBs and 3 Heat Sink Launchers. If you plan to do any serious combat with other large ships, this will make things a heck of a lot more fun. Especially if you plan on taking on Level 4 NPC Corvettes, which love to RAM you every chance they get. :D

With maxed shields/boosters and dual 7As, you can ram them right back! In fact, this is my preferred combat technique with all large NPC ships I engage with. I put the Spiked Ship Kit on my Vette to be more in line with this approach. :D

Yay so thanks to 3.0 now all of us that worked hard for the vette and grinded r way there 3.0 is now holding your hand to give you more rep and allowing all these noobs to get a ship that should have been worked for not handed out.

Happiness is not zero-sum game.

Not only does it not bother me that people can get a Corvette for less effort than it cost me, it actually makes me happy that more people can get to experience this beast of a ship.

I eat those for breakfast in my lightweight courier, the corvette is for deliberately aggroing and subsequently cheesing entire combat zones. :D

I think they are 7As in my spec I just mis-remembered. Cheers!

i went from master to duke in a day in 2.4.. altho it was quite pricy doing donation missions. about 700m..

I did by stacking maybe 30-40 Black Box recovery missions since the rep they give out on most of them was +++++. Like in my other post I only spent at most 3 hrs each day doing it.

It did seem to take forever for me to unlock the Cutter, but I wasn't ever focused on that goal, so it eventually happened by just playing the game. Having been pledged to the Princess forever, the bulk of my in-game activity always revolves around PowerPlay and Imperial space anyway, which helped a bit with the time it took.

Still... It was a good 18 months if memory serves.

Cool! I was referring to the high dollar/G5 mat reward Assassination Missions. Those always involve a Level 4 Vette or Conda and sometimes both at the same time, if you have any additional enemies involved you didn't bother to kill in advance of the main target instance. :)

The encounter will be much different than it is with a smaller, much more nimble ship.

You'll see. :) I really enjoy these, and now you can take on the Wing Mission versions Solo if you want to hone your multi-target techniques. :D

The rank grind was far too punishing anyway. I worked for my rank too before this update, but I'd still wanna see the rank locks completely gone. Just because I suffered it doesn't mean others should be forced to aswell.

Thanks for the confirmation. Which way did you go? Reinforced shields and resistance boosters? Damn I wish we had a way to compare the new values. :(

I went reinforced shields with 2 HD boosters only and the rest resistant boosters so technically you could go above 4500 MJ and perhaps beyond 5000 MJ.

However i have 70% explosive resitance, 65 % kinetic resistance and 50 % thermal resistence with a very solid MJ amount of about 4500 MJ - that easily trumps raw MJ strenght IMO.

Plus the diminishing returns on Booster stacking means its always better to have a mix if you can.
