Docking request denied

Yeah, that is a queue for entering the station given there are enough docking pads. If all docking pads are taken, you still get docking denied.

If all pads are taken by commanders, there is no way the game can know or estimate how long it will take before these commanders lift off or log out - especially since entering the hangar does not release the pad.

OK ok, forget about the waiting time... :D But an automatic assignement whenever a pad is cleared?

An approximate time... Just as the queue for buying gig tickets online. Till the pad is clear and then you receive your pad assignment. Instead of having to request docking 15 times till there's one available.

Approximate time - Impossible, unless you can read CMDR's minds on how long they want to selfishly and thoughtlessly block a pad? (Yes,I too have encountered this :D )
Queue system ? Totally agreed - "You are number 4 in the queue" :)

I think it is cheating NPC's

A major flaw is that ther eis no dockign queue, and when a NPC leaves and another is there wanting to dock he perfectly knows and gets dockign permission leaving you no chance to even get one besides spamming docking requests. I did that once and there was no chance against those NPC's to ever graba slot. Only chance was to reload the instance.

A better message about:

"Docking request denied, all landing pads currently occupied" would be a much better reply including an option to queue up if thats the case.

Regularly at CGs, especially if they are based at an outpost. Though also when I am in a large ship at a normal port. Usually I'll hang around for up to half an hour to wait for a pad, as for some reason I quite like watching other traffic in busy stations... No accounting for taste. :D If I do get bored waiting, I'll just switch mode (e.g. hop into solo, dock, then go back to open).

With the per-item data storage in 3.0, anyone doing this should be scanning the ships as they pass for the occasional data drop.

Hey everyone is anyone else have rare occasions where you continually get docking request denied until you relog

Occupied pad. Not a bug.

If you scan the area around the Outpost, you will usually find the ship that is occupying the pad your ship requires for landing. These NPC ships are not docked for long. Under 2 minutes as a rule.

If you are playing in OPEN, it might be a human player, in which case a log out might be required if that player is AFK or docked indefinitely for some other reason.

This afternoon i tested it. I looked at the contacts. No ships. Waited and kept spamming and looking. Finally a ship came up out of the dock but didn't show up in contacts till it lifted off the pad. I guess npc don't show up until theyve lifted off. Just strange that this came out of the dock after a long wait. I guess its the servers sorting out the code for the animation.

They need to add the ability to dock via a remote link system either allowing access to the mission & commodities terminals when within 1k or so, and if u need to deliver any items to commodity or for a mission, u need a limpet to take each piece to the station.

We shouldn't need to physically dock every single time... and this system would be cool as hell and is much more realistic

Small stations are sometimes full and you have to wait for a ship to leave. It rarely take me more than a minute to wait for an NPC to leave.

I wish the message wasn't just "denied" but give a reason to why it was denied, like "Docking denied. Station is full." or whatever.

It happens. Just wait a bit like many others have stated and try again. Might have to wait for 3 or 4 minutes.

For me it seems to happen more often than not when you're trying to deliver a load where you get a bonus for doing it by a certain time - or maybe I just remember them because they're most annoying.

If your playing in Open play. sometimes the station is full. Switch to Solo. Do your business at the station then switch back to Open. Unless your wanted it works everytime.

I don't think this is a bug. This usually happens in open play at small stations when too many players are idling or afk after landing. Can happen on mega-ships pretty often too. It can rarely happen in solo when sometimes the AI takes forever to leave the pad... Re-logging fixes it because it de-spawns the landed AI.

Yes absolutely. My hunch is that busy instances somehow break FDevs programming. That's when I start to see Belugas in landing pads I've been assigned, or permanent "permission denied" scenarios.

Belugas also turn up at outposts. I suspect that NPCs have access to shuttle SLFs that we don't.

Just like they have access to SLF landing gear like we don't.

See? Little tiny feets!

Right! You can't scan ships that are inside the hangar at Outposts and Planetary bases. They only show up when they are moved out of the lower deck hangar area and back up to the landing/takeoff area. Since NPCs take off immediately after this happens, it appears that they only show up when they take off, but if you try this same thing with a Human player ship, you will see that there is a short delay before your scan will connect with that ship, even if it is just sitting there.

Would love to see this.
I mean the pad blocking doesn't really happen all that often for me, but still, this would be a nice little QoL addition.

It would be nice if they expanded the traffic control aspects a bit. But in order to do that, they would need to make the NPC ships "Environmentally Aware". While not immediately obvious, NPC ships are essentially BLIND to your presence in and around the docking bay or Outpost.

The fact that they will often come barreling into the slot, or maneuver right into you despite the fact that you have the "Right of Way" and/or are sitting there waiting right in front of them is one of the more obvious indicators of this.

NPCs landing on a pad already occupied by a human player is another.
