Open play trolls

Whenever these three conditions exist:
a) The presence of people
b) The availability of weapons able to coerce those people
c) The freedom to act

...the opportunity for conquest and elevating one's position exists. Those very conditions exist in our galaxy.

For those of meager spirit, their fear and lack of ambition condemn them to forever remain someone else's lackey, living life under the thumb of some heavy-handed faction, power or superpower, slavishly cowering beneath *their* laws. They sacrifice their very essence to others for no reason other than their own weakness of will.

But those of exceptional character, such as myself-- I exhibit the courage to rise above the status of common lackey and reject mediocrity. Instead, I choose greatness.

Understand that my Overlordship is not evil; it is ultimately about achieving peace. My ambition is to unify all humanity under one leader, and eradicate the perpetual conflict we see among superpowers, powers, and factions. Once I secure absolute authority, I promise to set all things right. Words are wearisome. This can best be explained in song:

Your like The Empire as an entity? I can accept that. Empirical Hive Mind.

When your goal is achieved be sure to look over your shoulder a lot, have a food taster around, 3 or 4 body doubles and a telepath always present to read the minds and intentions of those in your presence lest you too fall prey to the conditions 3.

NOTE: pretty sure I didn't cover all the bases - better make a good will and procreate quickly for it is doubtful you will last more than 3 to 5 years in your hard won position.

The rebels are DEAD. LONG LIVE THE REBELS!

We don't have cheese gloop over here, but I do enjoy a good stilton and leek sauce with my steak.

I guess that makes me a half psychopath, which is good enough for me.
Aha! So the armchair psychology was half right all along!

And half wrong, but lets not dwell on that.
A cheese steak isn't a real steak either
What's that yellow sauce called?

edit: No idea why the post messes your quote up.

I'm pretty sure that the argument is...

Why does the game seem to allow Item 3) in Rich Systems, with stable effective Governments and with populations of Billions, totally reliant on interstellar trade for their Economy, with only a SINGLE Spaceport per Planet...
Go and try "using weapons to coerce people" at JFK or Heathrow Airport...
Don't point to the new C&P rules...in any sensible universe it would be "insta-death"

LOL trolls are just part of the game,...Hell I was gathering some mats at Daves Hope in open(always dismiss ship) and had followed some outcrops up one of the mountain sides when I noticed some ships had appeared flanking the base down below. Some trolls (3) had flown in @ solo and once they set up their positions had jumped into open. Guns a blazing shooting SRVs and parked ships alike. Two Anacondas and forgot the other but they were just there to shoot anything that appeared. Had a great view:O they were truly some proud furry palmed basement dwellers for sure. Like I said they are just part of the scenery so keep an eye open and enjoy:rolleyes:

You bring up a good point, which I myself have thought about in the past.

I make space and spacefaring people my target principality for conquest. Space is currently an ideal domain for the practice of warlordism-based rule. The typical sparsity of opposing forces combined with the fact that there is always somewhere safe to hide, is very amenable to the kind of guirilla warfare tactics that makes warlordism as a form of rule possible. The same cannot be said civilized planets, for which tremendous resources and political sway would be required to successfully conquor even one, because the strength of the opposition would be so much greater.

Ridiculous as this may sound, I have toyed with a plan by which I could conquor a civilized planet habitated by billions of people, but I'm undecided as to whether I'll pursue it any time soon because I already have too many other plans occupying my attention.

Personally I find this behavior pathetic. Plebians using solo to move around to gank. How depressing.

So if I get called a griefer for playing a villian, what does one call these low-browed simians?

Holy hell, Poe's Law in full effect with this one.

;)
“I’m just one hundred and one, five months and a day.”
“I can’t believe that!” said Alice.
“Can’t you?” the Queen said in a pitying tone. “Try again: draw a long breath, and shut your eyes.”
Alice laughed. “There’s no use trying,” she said: “one can’t believe impossible things.”
“I daresay you haven’t had much practice,” said the Queen. “When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”.

‘Only those who attempt the absurd can achieve the impossible’ – Albert Einstein.
‘When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong’ – Arthur C Clarke.
‘Impossibility is only the figment of an insufficient imagination’ – Walt Disney.

Playing the good guy works well...

The asp wasn't paying attention but the Conda did okay I thought. Just how skilled do you expect Cmdr random stranger to be? Should they match you? I'd be pretty happy to last that long against you, and fights that last longer are kinda boring to watch, and to be in. Plus the KWS gave you some trouble-free griefing, which is exactly what you want isn't it?

Competing with others is all about making mistakes, the one that makes fewer mistakes wins - but fun is also about making mistakes and learning from them. The Asp probably had little idea what was going on & learned little, the Conda probably learned quite a bit, has some fun but ultimately lost, fair play to them.

Bet you enjoyed a bit less hassle from the cops too eh? ;)

I just want to kill other players... I don't care how I get there, I have enjoyed the new C&P changes though watching as everyone is confused about how it all works while I sit here mowing down people like its a normal Tuesday. the point of the video is was to highlight the way the new C&P interacts with the flow of a bounty hunter, as you could see it basically gives me licence to kill most players... rendering the new ATR and other punishments toothless simply because most player in Elite DO commit crimes even vs NPCs.

You don't just want to kill, you want to find the most inventive & cynical ways to kill, and 3.0 gives you that. People make mistakes & you are there to take advantage in the most gruesome way possible ;) They will learn to be more careful, unlike newbies they know enough to understand what they can do better.

I'm sure I've said it before but I don't have a problem with griefing, and you have a basic honesty of intent I can appreciate, if not actually condone. So many players of all types are trying to be clever & twist words, it's frustrating to pick through all the double negatives & hyperbole. I'll take a basic honesty over all that bull any day. You provide a valuable service Besieger (you are not the only one), more could take a leaf out of your book whatever their style of play.
