Premium content

My guesses are these in order of importance:

1. Long legs & space hair
2. Thargoid rank and Thargoid ship piloting license.
3. Panther Clipper license.
4. Planetfall license.
5. Random ship kit and skin content

No, we still don't have any details about what that will entail, we only know that it's supposed to arrive sometime in 2018, and that LEP owners will have free access to whatever it is. Could be anything from a special paintjob to atmospheric landings.

Lol if it is a paint job or other cosmetic there will be outrage. Imo it has to a proper expansion of some description and my hope is the reason why horizons has slipped from one to 3 years is because it is being worked on as we speak.

The Beyond planet tech updates will also be used for atmospheric worlds. Such as replace the surface rocks with alien plants.
Interesting idea. Is that how Star Citizen uses it's similar tech (which FDev are copying the idea of) ?

There's no way it'll be atmospheric landing, that's way down the line. We've not got the volcanic or gas giants yet.
Personally I'm thinking it'll be something to tie in with the new exploration features and mining. It needs to be something ancillary to the game as not everyone will have bought it.
The squadron carriers will require management, they're the first ownable thing in the game and may even require building. The game systems needed to do that makes me think that maybe the next expansion could be some sort of planetary structure building system.

good to see ya Thrudd!

I think I heard FD mutter something about forth-coming premium content (or words to that effect. Paid for dlc as I understood it).

Any idea what this may be?
Yes, supposedly end of this year we're getting a payable DLC. I'm hoping for atmospheric landings to go along with some solid bar raising, place holder replacing, mining and exploration content in Q4.

I'm hoping at least something in all that will finally move something forwards significantly enough to actually interesting me in playing.

What SC tech? Crytek? Lumberyard?
SC wish they had a proprietary engine like ...

COBRA
FD have long experience with airy worlds, its called planet coaster.
Don't think FD are the copying kind.
E: D is kinda unique.
Ever seen kinectimals? Imagine animated aliens

There will be howls of derision from the player base who have enjoyed two years of free updates .... the realisation that the atmospheric planets they have demanded will have to be paid for !

What SC tech?
Errr, SC have built a lot of tech (just ontop of an unsuitable off-the-shelf engine, that then needed massively rewriting & still doesn't perform well).

As for what tech FDev are copying the idea of, I am talking about how they generate interesting terrain features:
https://youtu.be/DbEKn6gN4Qk?t=1016 (watch 16:56 to 19:15)

FDev didn't mention anything like this, until long after SC described this in detail (in June 2017), and FDev now plan something similar for their 2018 Q4 update.

And that's fine. SC copied a lot of ED ideas (e.g. procedural planets). So if ED copies one idea of SC, then great, that means we get a better game :)

Theres a fleet of thargoid ships that are going to be playable.
Those who buy dlc will be able to change sides and become a thargoid.

Based out of all the permit locked pleiades sectors.
Introducing new gameplay and making elite awesome...

I have no idea what premium content might be, b the only thing I'm really keeping an eye out for at the moment is any new information on the upcoming Krait.

I have a feeling I will be needing this ship in my Elite Dangerous life, depending on specs. Anything other content will be a welcome bonus :p

atmospheric landings for a fiver, if I was a betting gent

I doubt it.. More likely a few 'premium' paint jobs, I very much doubt it will be gameplay related. Thats assuming there ever is any of this premium stuff at all.

Anytime anyone at FD makes a comment about atmospheres its along the lines of.. 'Its something we would like to do but..'

I'm intrigued by its cockpit. From the pilot's (and the other crew's perspective), why is looking down important in this ship?

I really hope it's planets made of cheese.

All ruled by Lord Sheogorath.

"Wonderful! Time for a celebration... Cheese for everyone! Wait, scratch that. Cheese for no one. I suppose that can be just as much of a celebration, if you don't like cheese, true? You've run a maze like a good little rat. But no cheese for you yet. Well, maybe a little."

Arsenic..?

Arsenic? I'm still trying to find where they're hiding the old lace.

And Elite without Horizons feels like a little less than half a game. I feel bad for the what, 10 or 12 Mac players out there? ;-) Paid twice as much for half as much computer, and get less than half the game.

Perhaps a CG to aid them in getting a real computer would be in order?
Bring computer components to Hutton Orbital....

I don't know if anyone ever played "Nomad" which was an older DOS-based space-trading game but this one had gas mining bots, harvest bots, mining bots, each of which could be left at a planet, work for a while, then you retrieved it with all the stuff it had gathered. This would be a nice little industry if it could be made to work.
