New crime and punishment system sucks.

Hi there. I'm a pvp'er, and I play in open all the time. Except when my internet is trash, then I'm relegated to solo otherwise I end up getting matchmaking server errors every time the game tries to connect me to players. I'm on wireless internet, you see, and sometimes, it's just not up to scratch. Anyway, I digress. Let's start again.

Hi there, I'm a pvp'er. I play in open whenever my internet allows it, even when I'm flying my DBX. Fun story: I got interdicted by a 'pvp'er' in an FDL a few weeks ago in my DBX. I think maybe he thought he had an easy meal. Seriously, though, he should have checked my subsystems before he attacked, because the moment he did, I hit silent running, dumped a pair of heat sinks, boosted, and dropped mines. All three mine launchers are engineered, two of them for rebooting drives, the other one for rebooting FSD. Idk, maybe he assumed he could tank them, but the moment he flew into them, he started raging at me in chat.

Now, don't get me wrong, carebear rage is adorable, but rage from 'pvp'ers' is even better. There's a nobility to being a pvp'er, a nobility that I tend to find the majority of people calling themselves 'pvp'ers' tends to shirk. This particular chap decided to rage at me after I disabled his ship and escaped without take a hit from him. He called me a few things in chat, including something that rhymes with baguette, and told me to 'come back and fight me, carebear !' knowing full well I was in an exploration ship designed more with escape in mind than combat.

OP is another such PVP'er. These are the PVP'ers that are actually carebears themselves, those that can't stomach the risk but are happy to be one to others themselves.

I'll say it again: real PVP'er wear their bounties with pride, and lose them with a 'gf' in local. What that means is, a real PVP'er doesn't bother paying their bounty, because they know sooner or later someone is going to take them down anyway. A real PVP'er is going to lose their ship to another player sooner or later. It is going to happen. A real PVP'er doesn't undock their ship without the understanding that they ARE GOING TO LOSE THEIR SHIP ANYWAY. And they're going to do it with dignity, and a 'gf' in local.

OP is not a PVP'er. Oh sure, he's a PVP'er by the definition of the term, but deep down, he is just another carebear himself. Risk averse and scared of being shot at, and ing himself over a little bounty.

This is pure gold. Makes me want to become a pvper just so I can give my bounty to GF lol

My only complaint about C&P is that it doesn't go far enough.....especially in regards to PvE crime. I hope & pray that this will be rectified in future chapters.

Step 2 of C&P.......make Security Level even more relevant by adding a Multiplier to Fines & Bounties gained in Hi-Sec systems (& reduced fines & bounties in Lo-Sec), & add a multiplier for repeat offenses committed with the same ship. So if they retain the pitifully small 6000 Credit Bounty for Murder, the second murder you commit in that ship will score you a 9000 Credit Bounty, not another 6000 Credit Bounty. The 3rd Offence will score you a 13,500 Credit Bounty.....& so on & so forth.

"I stomped upon your sandcastle, now i want my lollipop as reward!!!"

He can have that in Star Citizen if it ever gets done...
CR equates PvP with risk and says risk should have the highest rewards.

Never made an mmo, but thinks he knows how to do it better... I bet it will be astounding to watch :p

Bagged me another baddy...

With all the moaning taking place now, just wait till the KWS changes (ie the actual Granting of a License to Kill) go into effect when 3.0.3 drops next week...

And Interstellar bounties - where people will be using Anon access Empire/Fed/Alliance wide? The fecal matter will definitely impact the rotating oscillating air facilitator!

The salt must flow!

Nothing in this game is working as it should, my bounty is at 72 million I have come close to dying a few times. This new crime and punishment has triggered me, well all the updates the devs have done have made me angry so far. They made me into this mass murderer by not making this game better and turning everything into a massive grind. C&p does not work I will never pay that bounty because why should i when all I get is people combat logging on me. Fdev fixed nothing just made the game less fun again wake up people.

this thread is straying way off course but the op is right again...frontier is using time sink/grind mechanics far too much for my liking. Like its a crutch/fig leaf to hide a lack of ideas moving forward

Jolly good. You keep shooting those pixels. :D

Or learn some situational awareness and trigger discipline.

I am always paying attention to my "allies" at the time and what they're doing. The second I see a non-red dot start to zip toward my bow I know it's something I shouldn't be shooting and I need to look out the canopy. Soon as I see them flash past my finger is already off the trigger and it STAYS OFF.

By that time I've done enough damage that I don't need to worry about Kill Stealing cops. They can blow it up all they want to and I'll get paid while I'm switching to open fire on another target.

That's the two things wrong with people who complain about the Assault bounties. They're tunnel visioning onto their target and they don't take their fingers off the trigger until something's told them they've shot something they weren't supposed to. At that point however there's already too much of your deadly force in the space that you aren't just "grazing" them. You've committed full out assault.

By taking my finger off the trigger when I see something flash past me. It means there's no longer any outgoing fire so they take actual glancing blows.

I've been warned a few times now and have never incurred an Assault Bounty under the new system as of yet. I can fully confirm the friendly fire tolerance has been increased.

So take your fingers off the trigger. Lead finger is the number one leading cause in Assault Bounties.

I understand what you're saying, but explain to me how I can do that in under a second:

{ "timestamp":"2018-03-17T18:26:05Z", "event":"CommitCrime", "CrimeType":"recklessWeaponsDischarge", "Faction":"Federation Unite!", "Fine":200 }
{ "timestamp":"2018-03-17T18:26:05Z", "event":"CommitCrime", "CrimeType":"assault", "Faction":"Federation Unite!", "Victim":"$ShipName_Police_Federation;", "Victim_Localised":"Federal Security Service", "Bounty":200 }

You killed pvp dead, I play on ps4 only killed 8 players and have 38 million bounty on my head, waiting in anarcy systems for pvp is stupid No one wants to fight so I go make them but I have to pay for it if i die and with what credits you nerf credits all the time, fun is dying in this game. Yeah it's good a player can kill Me and make bank but what about me with all the salt and combat logging I have to put up with where's my payout?.

If those 8 players you killed had their "report crimes" function on and no bounty on their head when you killed them, I am pretty sure that's just cold blooded murder and you definitely deserve every credit that's on your head.
I liked the new C&P system, but I think your post made me like it even more. :)

Excellent work Vin, I appreciate an honest, wholesome gentleman such as yourself putting your life on the line to bring these despicable and utterly deplorable criminals to justice.

Thanks, Hellakitty. It sometimes feels like a thankless job, but moments like this make it all worth it :)
