Corvettes and Cutters are now Super easy to get.

You're about a day late and a dollar short, OP. A simple search of these very forums would have yielded you a couple threads on this very subject.

All this really does is unlock the ability to purchase a Cutter or Corvette. You still have to have the creds to buy it and and A rate it. Then you'll need all the mats to engineer it. Then in order to actually fly it and fight with it you'll need to have enough to cover the rebuy. So when its all said and done a way around the rank grind isn't exactly giving a noob the keys to the castle.

This game has been out for years now. Everyone has the big 3 by now

Hello all

Please cut out the insults. If you can't make a point without insulting another or swearing, you probably don't have much of a point to make.

Calm down, and think before you post.

Thanks

Well, we wanted a level playing field for everyone, welcome to Elite: SAME.

BTW, I got my Corvette 2 years ago this July and it was an accomplishment, then.

wait.. 7 Corvettes? Wasnt that a special and Rare ship once?

Time's change. It used to be. And mind that few years already passed since launch. People who played since then had a lot of time to rank up and earn enough to but one or both. Plus - recent changes eased it much.

well holy Sh*t.
I farmed weeks or more like months to get my Cutter back in the Day, and now i was able to reach Rear Admiral within one single Morning by just picking the reputation reward on every data delivery mission.

Not within single morning, well, maybe if you consider 12 hrs straight a single morning. Last week I was rank 0 both with Imperial and Federation navy. Now, exactly 10 days later I'm Prince and Rear Admiral. Unlocking Cutter took me 3 days, unlocking Corvette took me 7 days (mostly due to rank up mission scarcity).

Now im a not so proud Corvette owner... it doesnt feel like i earned it properly, remembering how much work went into the Cutter.

Uu... elitist snowflake and a little bit rear hurt?

You EARNED IT PROPERLY. Period. Back in a day getting Cutter/Corvette was a feat, real achievement. It was long. It was hard. And it was meant to be like that. And you doing all that work was doing it properly.

The fact it's now easier doesn't diminish your achievement. Time's change, that's all. You can't compare situation from years ago to current day. Years ago buying LCD TV was a rich man's feat. Now every market has them in bulk, you can have one while picking up sweet rolls and carrots.

I think F-dev fails to find a middle ground. First it was to much grinding or to much work, now it is way to fast. What do you Guys think?

And here you have a good point. Back then it was too much to bare (from what I heard). Now it's a bit too easy. I have done it how I done it, it's all over. But if I had to do it again I wouldn't mind it taking twice as long. Getting top rank and biggest ship within 2 weeks sounds about right. Takes some effort but not overly grindy.

When you could just hand in millions of exploration data to climb rank?

You have a strange definition of "hard". How is any courier mission "hard" in this game?

Aww, I spent yonks grinding out for a Corvette, that it turns out I don't even like!

I'd be annoyed, but I'm not. Because I don't think those ships were worth the pre-3.0 grind anyway.

On the upside, you get to laugh at so many people going "I lost my Cutter because <failure to understand super easy thing one usually learns by playing the game>" :D

The bigger sad aspect of all of this. Is that it took months for really obnoxious reasons. No one who was doing the work at the time said "I love that I am doing all this work and I have no idea if I got anywhere today trying to do it."

Initially the system to actually see a gain, was not even there. It took large amounts of player effort to get Frontier to consider changing the system. Which they did, more than once.

I earned both my Cutter and Corvette prior to 2.4... The outcome is that it still took a lot of time and effort. I do not appreciate the time it took, nor the effort necessary to get to the finish line. They were never ment to be 'rare' or difficult to get. They were just ment to be a task that took time for the sake of having "Active players doing something."

Many people, took long breaks from the game after earning their big new shiny ships. Because they burned out on the "Second Job life style" that is rank grinding pre 3.0...

It still takes a ton of credits to outfit. Even more time to engineer now. I am still trying to find a new build for my corvette that I can enjoy. In the mean time I am having fun with my Chieftain.

Have you considered the reason there is no Alliance rank grind? Yep, that is right. Because they didn't want to make players grind through another rank wall just to have a chance to buy a ship.

Credits are utterly utterly ridiculous as a currency...the money in ED makes me feel like someone has tried to drop me into a "hardcore survival game", only every time I cut a tree down, I get a week's worth of supplies and a backpack of assault rifles. About an hour into playing, I want less rewards, because there's absolutely no sense of progression.

Bought mine in 2018-03-08 and OFC i bought it doing wing trades with my old T9,

Pure PVE player here, i don't even do BGS or PP , Combat rank Master, Tycoon in trade, Ranger in exploration, doesn't care if im in Open, Solo or Private i stick to my playstyle, that being said, how can my playstyle or the vessels i have harm you in any way?

I dont bought it for PVP, i don't care about it and im 100% sure that im a piece of cake for a PRO Pirate or PVP oriented ganker ¿so what? i can live with that, just wanted to go a damn RES sit there, scan and Shot the F out of everyone who's wanted in the area (and now is fun as hell), period, so i can't see the point of posts like yours.-

I grinded for a year to reach Elite, have a permit for Shinrarta and get a Corvette, and it was fun and worth it. I posted a positive review this morning about how hard progress can be in ED but how satisfying that can be. Now I wonder.... Are us old-time grinders going to be rewarded for 2 years plus of investment or be shot down by a host of newbies in Corvettes, that once prized ship which was a badge for endurance?

1) "I wouldn't use a nuclear bomb for anything harmful, therefore it would be okay to hand them out to the public". Sound right? Nay. Just because you don't abuse the 'vette for anything you consider sinister (though you'd be surprised how much effect you can have on the BGS farming NPC kills in that thing) doesn't mean everyone should be given them as freely as acid at a goth rave.

2) Just because players have "iWant" syndrome and expect the game to drop every last reward in their lap for sitting on their backside half playing, half watching netflix, it doesn't mean the game should sacrifice genuine achievement for the players that want to work for it.

What does it matter to you if the game has assets that players really have to work towards if interested? How does that harm your game? I don't see the point in posts like yours.

It's a game, Sr, not a second job, i have 800 Hs here and i'm really far away in terms of "achievements" compared to other pilots, there is NO list of "things to do" or "how to play" or "Achievements" in ED AFAIK. (Spacial trading game... some ppl say)

so, 1) and 2) are fascist way of think, "play like i do or don't do it, just stay in your [insert Mid ~ Low tier vessel name here]" (?) good one sr!

Want cheevos? cool, go and work for them, everyone has to do it someday, even the ones who do that half play / half netflix (im sry sr, i sometimes do it while trading or carrying passengers, im a sinner) why are u guys telling ppl how to play this game? i don't get it.

Well I would like an aspect of the game that requires challenge to complete/achieve. So why are you telling me how to play my game? Why are you telling me I can't have the content I want? You enjoy spouting fascist propaganda because I want a game other than what you want?

Welcome to multiplayer games, sweetheart. There should be variety for all, with the only exception being for players that want everything dropped in their lap for nothing. If that's what yer after, go play minecraft in creative mode - a true solo game.

so much rage... calm the f down son, never told ya how u need to play, i told ya that's cool if u want cheevos, i repeat EVERYONE has to grind A LOT to outfit properly a ship, the ppl that dont do pvp little less but has to do it anyways, even the ones who bought the ship since the wing trade thing is active (too bad for them if they are going to do some engineering for the first time with one of the bigs ones... but it's their problem not mine)

800 HS, so u think that EVERYTHING i have is since last week, ok. ok. haha!

There is variety actually (even in thinking terms, it's a right, even on internet, some ppl call it democracy.) , if u dont like it's your problem. Indeed i don't like to play solo, keep telling others how and where to play, go to bed son.-
