Thank You, FD - Crime and Punishment has made actual bounty hunting a real thing!

Over the past 4-6 weeks, I've been slowly converting the systems in my neck of the woods to Anarchies. 5 have so far been flipped ;) - 2 more are looking good.
Somewhat bizarrely, I think it's just safer and more convenient in Anarchy systems now...
Converting all stations in the systems to anarchies to avoid those unhelpful law-abiding jurisdictions might take a bit more work, though. :)

I thoroughly approve :)

Awesome, Eminore :)

I had a good old time yesterday in a Comp Nav beacon, wasn't being particularly careful, so by the time I finished I had a 1.2m bounty just from friendly fire incidents. lol. It's a constant worry in open now. Notoriety is now at 8 (down from 9 last night. This is gonna take a while. lol.

No disrespect Aasenfox, but how in Zues's name did you manage to accrue 1.2m in bounties from friendly fire?! All I can say is, whatever you're drinking, I'll have some. ;)

I noticed the inconsistency, but chose instead to bask in the warm rays of his love for the new C&P :)

P.S. We really gotta get the old sig back. Send it to me and I'll take out the "straps".

FD, the new Crime and Punishment system is awesome. With bounties that don't expire, can't be sideyed away, and that don't clear unless detected and claimed, players now have the option to go out and actively bounty hunt.

This new system has brought some meaningful, contextual legal PvP to this game. Not all the meaningful PvP that the game needs, but certainly a valid avenue for it.

Great job! (And, please, don't change a thing!)

Sounds like something that will promote emergent gameplay - which is great and about time. ED needs more stuff like this so a great step in the right direction and something to get excited about too :)

And I, conversely, am pushing anarchists OUT of power in my neck of the woods.

And now there's a whole new game to play - the crimnal scum vs the warriors of justice! The BGS just became relevant for probably the first time ever as now, cutting out Anarchy systems or flipping them, makes a huge difference in your neck of the woods.

It's a pity they don't affect nearby systems by increasing the piracy as well and generate interesting missions for both sides but that doesn't mean FDev can't make them.

Stuff the boring Thargoids, there could be an all out, intergalatic war to wage here as groups get created and lines get drawn which could be a huge amount of fun. Hopefully FDev will capitalise on this - could turn the game around.

Very glad to see C&P working out!

I agree with you for the most part, Vin. However, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, they *really* need to increase the *size* of bounties. All base bounties need a buff, & then they need multipliers for the Security of the System & for if its a repeat crime. Multiple murders should increase your bounty by more than a mere 6000 credits at a time IMHO.

I also noted a weird discrepancy yesterday.....or at least I feel it is. I've been caught out smuggling commodities more often than I'd like to admit.....but always only cop a fine. Yet last night, when I got caught "smuggling" an illegal passenger, I copped a Bounty. To my mind, this merely proves that Smuggling needs to be a Bounty worthy crime. It will certainly make me more inclined to use Silent Running (which also needs significant improvements, btw, IMHO).
A bounty, not a fine. People need to stop conflating the two, as they are very different things.

It seems to me that there are still issues and fine tuning with the difference between the two. Or perhaps it is only people not knowing the difference. Would be nice if the rules between them were a little more clear, but I'll bet some fine tuning is still be a good idea.

Appreciate the offer Vin, but this new one's really grown on me. I know it's less original and is basically just a cut/paste job from the game, but it reflects my play style better. Plus it contains the Chieftain.

:)

10/10 - Would get drunk and shoot the station again :D

I believe that will likely happen, intended or not!:D

The funny thing was the chat log, he signs off, saying he's had too much to drink (obviously as he spells whiskey with a t). About 20 minutes later he said that he was just going to get one more... Followed by the admission the he and the station had a misunderstanding about a dumbfire... The chat log is pretty amusing.

I saw this thread at work today, during, errr, lunch.

Vin makes an excellent case for a career change. Now, which ship to use?

Chief is a good choice! Many of the mediums would do. Even an Asp would be OK if you're strapped for cash.

Yes, Chief or FdL spring to mind. FAS and FGS are good too but....

Need to look at the Clipper again.

The rebel in me says....Python??

Python would be just great. I have a Python as a pirate ship. No reason it couldn't dual role as a bounty hunter... er... save for the bounties on it :)
