The entire procedurally generated mission board needs to be torn down and reworked from the ground up.
Childish and unhelpful
Changed my original post to reflect the change in yours![]()
Well, I'm keeping the childish bits as well as the software development logic cos sometimes problems seem way less annoying when everyone just lightens up somewhat![]()
I dont think its much of a problem yet myself, but i dont think theres much point coming into a thread and being antagonistic.
The mission board is going through a lot of tweeks currently,i think it will settle down alright.
I'd be lying if I said my initial reaction wasn't, "People want military rank for nothing? What is this, the US Air Force?"
*Yes, Air Force guys, that would be considered shots fired.
I was Air Force for 10 years. I had to work for a living flying around in a RPG magnet, so watch your tongue!

Would be retiring normally this year if I wasnt Medically Retired 10 years ago.
Since these missions first appeared, they were a huge PITA for both players and FD programmers. The former constantly faced spawn problems and had to relog for missions to appear; sometimes it required several hours of relogging. The latter had to try and find a fix for all the problems associated with RNG nature of mission board.
3.0.3 was the final straw. You failed, FD, and failed spectacularly.
There is only proven way to fix all the problems with rank\invite\permit missions: Remove them and make navy ranks, permits and engineer invites work like Pilots Federation ranks and Shinrarta Dezhra permit. Which means automatically.
It's a win-win situation. We get simple, logical and uniform system for everything rank-related, and you eliminate a major problem that plagued ED from the very start. Please, pretty please, pretty please with cherry on top, stop clinging to a bad design decision and make this thing right.

Now there's an idea.Dare I suggest that a less byzantine system might be less error prone?

Could Navy rank/invite/permit missions made clearer? Most definitely. Had it not been broken straight out of the gate, the "follow up mission" idea would have been a step in the right direction, and it shows that Frontier are putting at least some thought into these missions.
As for difficulty, it's already easy enough - players piloting Imperial Cutters or Federal Corvettes are hardly a rare sight.
As someone with 19 years service with the Navy, I'm contractually obligated to make fun of the Air Force every chance that presents itself. It's in the enlistment oath, I checked.![]()
