No day and night cycles? Whaaaaat?

Wouldn't need to be a DLC; a patch would suffice.
I'd hazard a guess to say that since the engines are the same, and the game supports day and night modes, then day/night cycling should be "flick of the switch" (figuratively speaking).

Or as part of the island/content unlocking process.

Can see both sides of this; Understand why plunging a starter island into darkness, could be a problem if you're still figuring out the basics, yet would like to have the game turn into a sandbox, once you've completed the missions.. So I'd say I get it when starting the game but would like to see it unlock later.

Easiest method... add two options to the Options menu:

Code:
[ ] Enable day/night cycle [I]// tickbox[/I]
   [ ] Day only [I]//radiobutton 1[/I]
   [ ] Night only [I]//radiobutton 2[/I]

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That is odd. I think they did this to give each island a different theme. However, they should've added things like mist, weather effects, different plants, biomes to distinguish each island while keeping the day/night cycle. For example: island 1 = lush and green, island 2 = sunny, clear skies and dry, island 3 = cloudy and stormy etc.

Each island has a different topography to distinguish itself so that's something. A day/night cycle for every island is essential to make it more realistic.

I really hope they add an option to toggle day/night cycles for every island.

It wouldn't be total pitch black darkness. I am sure you have been outside when the moon is out. It's like a less bright sun.

I think at this point, all we're waiting for is a confirmation of a freeplay mode where a full day/night cycle and dynamic weathers are in place or customizable to our choice. On the website, Isla Nublar seems to be separated from the other by a square. Maybe on this island we can start from nothing at all and build to our hearts's content? That's what I'm looking for the most out of building games. I don't like pre-placed stuff at all, and always freeplay mode. A random island generator that we can terraform à la Operation Genesis would be even better, but I'd be happy with simple freeplay on a big island.

Also, on the website, the description of the islands don't seem to imply they are fixed. Example, Isla Muerta states "while it can enjoy pretty sunsets, it is often ravaged by storms". If it is perpetual sunset, that description wouldn't make much sense. Well... at least that's what I hope. If Frontier could chime in on this it would be greatly appreciated.

That cause different islands feature different times of the day and the lighting that goes along with it. So that island would be a steady sun set with the lighting that makes it look like a sun set.

Yeah that to. In the book they mention flood lights.

Yeah. The imagery of fences, trees, dinosaurs and rain under floodlights was a huge part of the imagery of jurassic park 1 the book, it pretty much was the entire setting for the mid part of the book as soon as power went out.

It would be a real shame to miss out on this!

Well with the way Frontier has it now you would only get that on one island, that is in a state of never ending night.

Yes, I understand that, but did you read the second part of my post? Wouldn't you agree the wording of the description wouldn't make much sense if it was perpetual dusk?

What they mean is the pretty sunsets are going to get ruined by bad weather, not that you will get a day and night cycle.

If the 5 islands were part of a story mode where it made sense that they were at different times of day, and then Isla Nublar was a free play island with a day/night I would be ok with that. I have a feeling like this possible. I can't imagine them being this restrictive for no reason. Especially when every other dinosaur and tycoon game gives you these options.

There must be a reason behind this. Either design of different islands and challenges they are supposed to present, or, well, "other" :D

Really?

I just heard this while watching TheGamingBeavers video. The guy with him said that each Island has different lighting.

Also I really hope there is a free mode/sandbox mode where we can just build a park. So far from what I have seen in the video the game looks amazing. But is a bit too structured. I mean that's fine if that's what you want. But I hope that isn't the only option in the game.

I have problem with the goal oriented play, it seems fun. But I like to mess around in my games, especially games like this. It's what I do in Planet Coaster.

Also it's shame that the Dinosaurs can't attack the ranger vehicle, by that I mean the carnivores like the Rex.

Otherwise everything seems great.

Agree with all of your points. Especially that i'd like a day/night cycle. It would make sense with this game. Imagine a stormy night like in Jurassic Park. I'd love that.

The night played a role in the film but it was even bigger in the book. There was so much imagery of what the park was like at night. It was all mental imagery for your imagination but it was a big thing.
