Anyone else think this is going to be a monumental let down?

I don't understand exactly how modding works, but not supporting modding doesn't mean modding isn't possible, right? Again, I have no idea about modding.

From what I've seen from the demo that you tubers played and Frontier showed, I think this game has a very good basis to work off.
Sure some things like the guests and some animations still need work, also the lack of blood and day/night cycle could still be added but I really hope that the management aspect of the game is solid.
I think it's not going to be a let down.

I agree.
I think we should have faith in Frontier developers. Is the right company to develop a game like this.
I think that at this point the feedback from the community is very important. Im sure that in Frontier already know our opinion about day and night cycle, gore options and the need to implement a wide variety of decorative elements.
We should wait. We must remember this company has created excellent management games.

It will only be a letdown to me if it is a technical failure (buggy/poor performance).

This game is not:

1. AAA budget
2. 5+ years in development
3. A fully realistic dinosaur simulation

This game is:

1. Developed on a modest budget
2. Niche appeal
3. A modern OP Gen
4. Technically limited to run on 5 year old consoles

I see a lot of people with wild ideas about what this game should be what features it MUST include but unfortunately I feel that those people are only opening themselves to disappointment.

I disagree with your last comment. The vast majority of people are asking for features that are either part of existing Frontier games (day/night cycles, first person mode, more customisation) or part of other indie dinosaur park builders.

Yeah, that is true. However, they did say that they may look into it if a lot of people want it. Either way I'm pretty sure not supporting modding just means that they're not providing the infrastructure for it and therefore it's more difficult. But there are so many talented modders out there I'm sure there will be mods for this game within a week after release [big grin]

This game is definitely a triple A game, because it builds upon the years of development that went into Planet Coaster. It's firstly a park building and management game with dinosaurs. Simulation is less important, but they have tried to stay true to the Jurassic World franchise. We don't know their budget, but the quality is top notch for a game developer.

People who want full realism will gripe about the tiniest details, they're hard to please.

I personally love the quirky side of JP anyway. However, the line is crossed when it comes to poor (not that is so far) dinosaur on dinosaur interactions. Those should ironed out as much as possible and I strongly get the sense that the devs take enourmous pride in doing so.

40-45

A developer on a vid said 30. BestinSlots video showed 30 dinosaur spaces on the screen. Apparently it's recently been confirmed that the 5 deluxe are in the standard game late on.

So just 30 dinosaurs plus IRex which is on its own screen.

30 is shockingly poor.

40 has already been confirmed multiple times. 45 if you buy deluxe.

Stop posting this false Information. The devs said there is MORE than 30. In BIS ama on reddit he confirms that the 30 shown in the build is not the final product. Heck in o e video they sort the Dinos alphabetically and there is not even enough slots in the A section to cover all the confirmed Dinos. So please kindly stop spreading this lie.

I am still pretty excited for the game. Will frontier fix things? I am sure they will.

At the end of the day though you just have to accept the game for what it is. It's way better than JPOG it seems. The issues with the game have been talked about multiple times. Hopefully Frontier hears us. Some complaints aren't unreasonable while some are.

I am just going to enjoy the game and play the hell out of it. :)

Nope, this game is everything I wanted it to be.
There sure are some things that the developers could improve but those things don’t really make me think that it’s going to be a “monumental letdown”, certainly not.
Jurassic World Evolution has some of the best dinosaurs I’ve seen in a game. It captures the Jurassic feeling so well and introduces new species into the mix.
PLUS it’s still in development stage.
This isn’t the final game, we now have the opportunity to say what they could improve about the game, 2.3 months before launch.
It is already not a “monumental letdown” because it already holds key elements that will make it the ULTIMATE Jurassic Park building game.
For fans, by fans, Let’s not forget that!

I am trying to get excited, but it ain't happening. Probably due to the constant overhyping of games/releases/dates(missed) etc... maybe we all getting real again and judging the product rather than the hype... Naaaa probably not!

I for one am extremely excited, and this game has already exceeded my expectations. If Frontier literally remade JPOG with current gen graphics, I would be happy. Come on people, learn to wait and see proper footage or try it out yourself before you come up with a hecking long list of negatives... The majority of gamers are bloody cynical and just down-right negative people, and it's getting annoying... Constructive criticism is one thing, immediately comparing a 1 hour demo with the first gameplay to NMS because the developers can't satisfy the hype and reach goals (which YOU DECIDED were going to be in the game) is another.

Hype tends to bring regrets and anger because we start to think that all these cool things will be in the game, we get all these amazing plans and ideas of what we're going to do and see and how our parks are going to look... but then the game is released and we realise those cool things we thought of aren't there, and we can't implemented our amazing plans and ideas; and instead of acknowledging that we got our hype on, we end up blaming the developer for this imagined slight.

Hype is bad; and companies should feel bad for encouraging it. I've learnt not to get my hype up over games; games will look amazing and make me want to buy them, and I will - but I rather see what features there are, look at videos and then experience it myself on launch. Maybe some minor disappointment, but no regret. Eg: No Man's Sky; slight disappointment because it didn't look like the E3 trailer; but no regret - still had fun with it, and enjoying each of the patches that get released with major content in each.

This is going to be the greatest game ever made ever in the history of greatest games ever made ever... ever. Stop with the negative attitudes.

If thirty is "poor" how do you justify that statement?

I mean there were eleven dinosaurs in the 1993 film (only five of which you saw), there were ten dinosaurs in Lost World, fourteen species in J3 (two of which you didn't see) and sixteen in Jurassic World (of thirty four mentioned), so to my point of view, having thirty dinosaurs at launch this game puts the feature films to shame. Also, as I understand it you can "edit the DNA incorporating modern-day species" to create your own breeds of dinosaur, so that is thirty base-species with who knows how many variants.

I have no idea on what you've based your expectations, but it isn't any other dinosaur park game; Zoo Tycoon 2: Extinct Animals had fifteen dinosaurs, Operation Genesis, one of the best games in this genre had twenty five species of dinosaur in total. So if this game will be "a total let down" based on such a metric as quantity of dinosaurs, then no game will ever make you happy.

... This information has ruined my life.

lol, true that!

I saw a vid of a ceratosaurus running loose. His behaviour could use a fix. He went after people, stood still, ren again, stood still. I'm sure it will get fixed tho' since it is in a vid with somebody streaming with a frontier employer and he was complaining about it. Besides that, we need more buildings and customization. I got high hopes on this but as somebody said above me, i hope this isn't going to be overhyped like a lot of games nowadays.
