Raw Material Traders

Right. Having checked the places I visited last night they're all mixed. I'm going to try one of the single economy stations this morning. I also noticed that the places I visited are now showing as manufactured material traders, so the real-time update through EDMC seems to be working. I guess some systems are just changing more frequently than players (or at least players providing data to INARA) are visiting.

All of this stuff is kinda cool in its way (I know others might disagree) but it's a shame so much of it is out of game. It would all be so much more engaging to me if I could do all this data mining through station services or the galactic map.

Yeah, agreed.
To be fair even the in game system map doesn't update system state in real time.

I was feeling so clever by choosing a station with a single economy earlier today.
Turns out the trader station is over 300kls from the main star.
:/

Yeah, I went to a single economy raw material trader for precisely this reason.
But, believe me, once you get that nine for one conversion out of them it's a whole league faster than the old fashioned way.

I guess FD are shooting themselves in the foot a bit basing these things at economy types that can flip. Searching out a specific trader to find he's not the right one is bound to create salt.

Is there some sorta secret to finding these things? Been on galmap fer an hour now seriously starting to lose patience ^

System map, under station facilities.
That won't show what kind of trader it is however you can sort of figure that out based on economy.

Yes I know all the options and am using all the right search guidelines and still nothing...really starting to get annoying now starting to see why so many others are complaining about it...easy to use and a living nightmare just to find ^

Does anyone know a manufactured mat trader anywhere in the bubble, preferably empire or indendant as feds dont like me much and my notoriety is on 5 so cant change that anytime soon? Dont care if its a couple hundred light years...now so fed up Ill go anywhere in the bubble rather than spend the bloody day on galmap. Anywhere...distance not an issue...

This is absolutely ridiculous...this is what its coming to now

I'm not sure where you are currently, but these are the Raw Traders I know if, I use them all the time:

Mackellar Dock - HIP 43310

Shaikh Dock - HDS 1879

Moxon's Mojo - Bolg.

You can trade for Niobium at any of those.. those 3 are scattered across the bubble, so one should be near you.

The list on Inara in my experience is wrong 95% of the time. I just made a list of a few good known spots and use those.

As Bob says futher up the thread, if you stick with the stations that only have a single economy (not a single trader type; that was my mistake) it's a lot more reliable. I hit four this morning and all were exactly as listed.

Once we've all flown around for a couple of weeks and built up our own histories the galactic map filters should be more useful.

One other advantage of INARA is that you can see immediately if the station is a bazillion light seconds from the entry point without having to drill down into a system map.

Aside: from a lore perspective the speed with which these traders switch specialities when the economy flips is yet another bit of ED galaxy silliness. "Right, lads, I've just been informed that the station had a higher turnover of extracted goods than refined materials in the last 24 hours, so you know the drill. Strip out all of these manufactured material racks, pretend like they were never here, and replace them with data servers. But don't forget to keep the materials handy in case we need to swap it all back again tomorrow, eh?"

I also went ahead and bookmarked the closest single mat traders to my home station, since the galaxy map filter will only show 40 ly out from your current location.
That's one jump in a decent Asp!

Can you tell what kind of trader it is at a glance?
I don't see a way to do that.

you use "find station"

1. In reference you put "where you are currently"
2. In facilities you choose "mat trader"
3. In economy you choose "extraction or refinery" for raw mats trader, "Industrial" for manufactured mats trader and "high tech or military" for data trader

It's the economy that will determine what type of mat trader it will be.

Right, but that won't really filter the results in many cases, due to multiple economies, correct?
Seems even more vague since existence of choice A doesn't eliminate B and C, or even acknowledge them.

Encoded: CD-28 12950 & Saktsak
Manufactured: Sirius & Wulganda
Raw (Minerals): Bolg

I'm having to write them down, on a piece of paper, like a savage.

Never had any problems finding a mat trader of the type I wanted....

Dunno instead of going to station that is say extraction/industrial go down the list and find a extraction/refinery station?

Maybe at some point EDDB people will add what type of mat trader is at each station dunno.

I've found that Raw Material guy needs to be primarily Extraction or Refinery, not Industrial/Extraction, nor other way around. I also have no issues only using galmap to find the 3 types of traders.

I don't either, but in contrast to INARA it seems like a less efficient option at this point.
You can see all that information on the same page there.

INARA not showing any of my engineering information (Unlocked engineers, pinned blue prints, mats that I have....etc). Really not showing any of my information.

I think this is a relatively new feature and won't populate unless you visit an Engineer while EDMC or similar is running, or upload a Journal file with the relative Engineer information in it. I had the same issue. I corrected mine by taking each Engineer that I knew had bad data, searching for that Engineer's name in the Journal files, then uploading the relevant Journals. I need to double-check with the game interface itself but everything seems to be in sync now.

I guess you could blitz it by uploading all the Journal files but I'd imagine that'll put a fair bit of unnecessary strain on INARA's servers.
