We're in Q2 right ?

They are based in England, not Europe. The Brits don't have a "vacation month". Younger staff without school-age kids will likely take a break outside of the school holiday period of late July to early September, that is all.

Brits might not have it, but FD aren't exclusively Brits. In previous years June has been 'silent' one - month when they are off to have vacations. That might have changed, but that's previous experience talking there.

Playstation 4 version released in the last week of June last year ..... hardly a quiet time for FD !

It was lined up with all trade shows and QA cycle for PlayStation. Not really an indicator.

Look, you can poke me as much as you want. I am talking from experience here. That might have changed. Also FD is much bigger these days and I am ready to bet that no team gets fully let go for vacation at same time.

Misfiring exactly what?

On Brits and British company having a mass vacation period in June mate, in England especially the schools don't break up for summer until end of July or so, taking kids out of school to go on vacation also results in legal/court action against parents. Also, as the Maynard pointed out JWE is coming out in June, they are gonna be busy bees - not running a skeleton crew.

Combat is most actively played part of the game and it weaves into other parts of the game. So it is biggest benefit from dev hours FD can put into game.

People say they want non-combat things - issue is they are minority. Considerable one. Having combat thingies and pew pew pew sells game.

Do you have a source for that statistic?

If it’s even true though, it most likely has more to do with Frontier’s constant emphasis on combat content over other playstyles than actual player preference. Combat is by far the most developed aspect of the game, which is unfortunate for us non-combat types. I was hoping that Beyond would balance that a bit more, but 3.0 still had quite a bit combat content, so now I’m not so sure.

I’m curious to see what the Q2 update brings for non-combat players, but I’m not expecting too much.

All I said that I remember that in the past considerable part of ED crew went on vacation during June. It has changed no doubt, and isn't true anymore.

I think we have to wait for Q4 for any meaningful non-combat gameplay improvements.

Even that patch will be largely about "squadrons", which are effectively fancy "wings" - i.e. more combat stuff. :(

But I'm relatively hopeful for the exploration & mining improvements.

True. However Multi-Crew does not let you land your ship on it before you log out. ;)

That could be interesting for exploration. Have a group explorer ship head out somewhere remote, with lots of explorers' ships on board [heart]

EDIT - I added ships

That's the bit I was referring to, just for clarity. :) No idea about a release date, your guess is as good as mine. But mass June holidays are not a thing in the UK (July and August are the holiday months, same as for most of Europe, but many of us still work them). I'm also not convinced by your assertion that the E: D team have disappeared to any great degree in previous Junes. And of course, there are four weeks in June - so even if everyone did go on holiday in that month, unless they all took their whole annual allowance at once, it still likely wouldn't affect more than 25% even if the whole team took holiday.
