Lol! Narcissism. Well done. I’m pretty sure Q4 will prove to one of the best things to happen to Elite. Especially since they won’t limit solo or PG.

Indeed. It will be the best. Because everything I predicted will come true. Not hard to read between the lines if you have experience in field.

This is like one of those movies where the crazy tinfoil hat guy ends up being right. Just wait. Q4 and focused feedback cant come soon enough.

Oh this one? Hey some things I type on my phone. Typos and what not.

Again you guys are so caught up in nit picking its amazing.

its fine though. continue to do it.

I was thinking more along the crazy guy from stanger things. But thats okay.

What you call nit picking professionals call specificity. Pro tip: when you attempt to engage in constructive discussion, semantics matter. i.e. words mean stuff. And listening helps too.

Take your own advice.

There is a reason I can post paragraphs upon paragraphs about balancing, game development and so on.

How about you go back. Listen to those, cross reference it with other things posted online about. Instead of saying. NU UH YOURE WRONG.

Its best you start taking your own advice before giving it to someone else.

I have read your posts. And your choice of balancing is elitist, exclusionary and against everything the game was created and advertised to be. If you remember, this discussion was about limiting vs not limiting solo/PG. Your idea to “fix” the game is narrow scoped. I’ve read the rants. And they, predictably, devolved into insults and narcissism in the face of your failing justifications. I enjoy reading your posts. The problems with your “solution” widen with each one.

BTW, I was at the CG last night for a few hours. Guess how many commanders I saw? One! I saw one! Pretty easy day in Open. Thanks XBL!

Not narrow. Pretty in depth. I've explained what's happened on multiple levels because of the modes. Everything from the toxicity it's generated to the definition PvP has.

It all comes back to being able to defend against your aggressors. Even well known pvpers opt out of PVP so they can't be stopped. It's common sense.

It's not being used as an option it's being used intentionally.

Major difference there. And when thast happens in games. They make changes around that to funnel playstyles correctly.

That's what I said will happen here.

How they do it is beyond me. Pun intended.

Nice post.

Love the ellipses followed by the double return. Conveys a sense anticipation about what's coming next. And when it hits, it's like, profound.

Well said!

Besides our disagreements on this issue. I've always loved your stuff ziggy. I mean that.

The narrow scoped solution is to remove solo/PG from PP/BGS. It’s not a solution that solves platforms, p2p, or instancing. And it’s one that radically changes the foundation of the game that was funded by the people. It radically changes the foundation of what the game is being sold and marketed as today.

The fact that “true PvPers” would rather engage in objective based gameplay and avoid direct PvP is telling. It means that the objective is more important to them than the direct PvP gameplay. They have the choice to avoid the gameplay that they supposedly love. You all could run optimal in Open but you choose not to. It’s a choice. You could counter everyone in solo/PG, but you choose not to. The entirety of this discussion centers around the fact that you would rather pew pew than run current objective based gameplay. And in a free for more pew pews, you need more people. In order to get more people, you would like to force Open play. It’s clear. And that’s why fabricating evidence and grasping at straws to support it is met with such stern opposition.

Hold on there, park that thought on the pedestrian side of the road :) Couple of things ...

'True' PvPers ... They're not Scotsmen you know?
Any PvPer that posts here posts his or her own opinion, not the opinion of PvPers. Since these oddballs all have their individual opinions and preferences on how to play the game. There are definitely a lot of PvPers who would prefer to engage just as capable ships in just as capable pilots set in the context of the Elite environment. Do not mistake anyone for spokesperson of all PvPers.

This politically correct message was brought to you by Blammo! Famous for it's <combat> log song. Come on kids, sing along!
What rolls down stairs
Alone or in pairs,
Rolls over your neighbor's dog?
What's great for a snack,
And fits on your back?
It's log, log, log

It's log, it's log,
It's big, it's heavy, it's wood.
It's log, it's log, it's better than bad, it's good. "

Everyone wants a log
You're gonna love it, log
Come on and get your log
Everyone needs a log
Log log log

Oh crapper! I forgot my quotations! It was meant to read “true PvPers” in a vein of sarcasm. Punctuation means things!

IMO, it's not the "true" PvPers that want to force players into Open. Most PvPers are happily doing PvP, organizing tournaments, cruising CGs for combat ready ships, or even doing Powerplay and BGS work in Open, without needing any kind of bonus for doing so. The ones wanting to force more players into Open, by restricting much of this game's content to that mode, is a certain subset of player who need players who don't enjoy PvP to be their content, but are unwilling to be the content of others in return.

I've been playing this game since Alpha, most of it in Open, and I've never needed any bonus to do Powerplay or BGS work in Open. I simply find the potential for player opposition makes the experience more fun. I also prefer it if players play in Open of their own free will, because I'd rather not waste my time or theirs by attacking someone who isn't willing to play with me when I'm in the mood to go marauding. PvP is at its best when both sides are willing. Forcing players into Open to be targets for others is PvP at its worst.

Indeed it does. A misplaced comma can cause a catastrophe. ;)
