Hello cmdrs. I'm currently trying to complete a federal mission that involves killing pirates from a certain faction. I've found and killed several of said ships from the listed faction but only the first 3 were mission targets and only those 3 counted toward my progress. The last 3 I blew up said "wanted" and "pirates of wolf 865" but it won't count them. Any advice?

Well like I said, it says theyre from the pirates faction and that they're wanted but doesn't mark the ships from that faction as mission targets. I think its broken

No, if they aren't in the area the mission states then they don't count even if they are wanted.
I just take data or cargo missions for Navy rank.
But it is in the area the mission states. And yes I agree, missions I can actually complete are my favorite

Not just the same system, but for example, if it says combat zones, it needs to be CZs.
What I meant was that while they may be wanted and of the pirate faction, they are not marked as "pirates" specifically but "smugglers" or something. So you have to keep looking for more until you find wanted ships from the pirate faction that are marked as pirates in the system and thus qualify as mission target. What I think is bugged is the way ships get marked, so you have pirate faction ships, wanted, behaving like they should be "pirates" but aren't showing up as such and thus are not mission targets.
Ok, I misunderstood you. That's an excellent point and you must be correct. As for that mission I already abandoned and got a strike/assassination instead
That's all the mission says though. "The wolf 865 system". It mentions nav beacons and res sites but there are no res sites in 865
If you're at the nav beacon, you will be getting smugglers, too, which aren't pirates. Too bad the "occupation" doesn't show up on the ship scan.
Agreed. I think f-dev should take a look at this system and hopefully change it a bit
The last one of these I took had me scan the navigation beacon, then pinpointed a planet I had to circle with a mission waypoint. I then had to repeatedly drop out of sc in to blue mission USS for a series of 1v1 fights. The first four of these spawned non mission targets so I just sacked it off in the end.
Stick to data runs and cargo recovery missions. Just easier in the long run.
Agreed, the strikes and what not are just too much work to sometimes not even gain anything
The mission target system is bugged ATM. Not much you can do other than keep looking.
