PC games with a great story narrative?

Literally any adventure game made (or remade) by lucasarts (the monkey Island series being my absolute faves).

Excellent emulator for some old point and click games and you can get Beneath a Steel Sky and Flight of The Amazon Queen there, both available as freeware.

I'd have to recommend Subnautica.

There's another game I loved, a little short but story was good but I can't remember the name

Fire something - you're a firewarden and you're always on the radio to Delilah - Fire Watch?

My only complaint about Fire Watch was the rather short gameplay and high release price.

It was VERY good though and felt more like an interactive movie.

I just have to mention What Remains of Edith Finch again here because it's absolutely wonderful, but also extremely short, with little to no replay value. But totally worth its price thanks to the incredible narrative and voice acting.

If you care about this you need a PS4, Last of Us, God of War, and Horizon Zero Dawn alone are easily worth it.

I only ever watched play throughs of TLoU and HZD - TLoU I thought was brilliant in both story and combat.

HZD the combat was incredibly boring and long but the story was amazing (and I could fast forward through the combat lol).

Yeah, it was a little short and I bought it ages after it came out or maybe even in a sale.

Anachronox - funny and hilarious, great Story, colorful Characters (including a whole planet). While the graphics might look dated, thanks to the camera movement and animations it feels cinematic.

Oh man, the old 3D games didn't age well at all. I tried to play a few of some 3D oldies, but couldn't bear it. Even Interstate '76, which was one of my favourite games of the 90's - I just can't play those game. While old 2D games still have certain appeal and can be quite charming, 3D are just a big fat NOPE from me :(

I must agree, the dated graphics just makes it hard to watch, we're getting to spoiled with good graphics, in the old days most games was made with a 8 bit pallet and we where happy :D

See the Amiga games are still perfectly playable to me nowadays. In fact, I replay Dune 1 every couple of years, just because I love this game so much.

But when I recently tried System Shock (never played it before) - even though it was Enhanced Edition, I couldn't stand looking at the ugly graphics. And don't even mention the first Alone in the Dark game - that is a prime example of early 3D game that is absolutely horrible to look at today :D

First thing I install on any machine that I build (after Windows & drivers) is an Amiga emulator (WinUAE) then I think about steam etc.

Classics like Worms, Cannon Fodder, Lemmings (all of them) & Wings just need to be played!

So, I got Farcry 3 on the the cheap, and i'm now around 12 hours into the game, it actually got a very nice story, and when you get use to the weird way the game is put together, you can actually enjoy the game.

Crafting is actually good, the details of the map looks great even in 2018, and again the story is actually good.

I did enjoy it for a while, but the more I got to know the protagonist, the less I liked the guy and in the end I just stopped playing. Couldn't identify myself with a bunch of spoiled American kids ;)

On very hard the combat was actually very good and tactical. You have to exploit the weaknesses of the machines and approach encounters carefully targeting specific parts. But the story was the star in the game. Good thing thing they hired John Gonzales for the story, who worked on Fallout New Vegas.

Got a PS3, that is as far I would go regarding consoles, from now on it's PC all the way......

If you have a PS3 you can play TLoU, and Persona 5 if you like JRPG.
