Crime and punishment stole my ship

Gaind a small fine and a bounty on a planetary scan mission. Returned to current CG station and changed ships for some bounty hunting. Now my Asp X is locked out says (Legal Issues). I have been to interstellar factors and paid all fines and bounties and I still can’t get my Asp back. I would go to the planet/system where I got the fine but I can’t remeber where it is. I play on PS4 so have no access to 3rd party tracking. I really feel like quitting the game. I’ve been searching for hours for a way to get my ship back.

To clear your bounty, find a station with Interstellar Factors and pay it there. You can tell which systems have such a station by filtering your galaxy map on Services, Interstellar Factors.

That should clear out your bounty completely. However, if you have Notoriety, you might still have some restrictions until it decays (2 hours of gameplay). But normally Interstellar Factors won't clear your bounty if you have Notoriety.

Yeah I’m in my Python. Transaction panel shows no bounties or fines. Asp is locked in CG station. Interstellar factors have 0 bounties for me to pay I’ve payed them off. My notoriety is at 0. Only info I have is next to the ship when I look at it in the shipyard it says (global bounty & global fine) I’d like to go to the system but and see if I can pay it there but I have no way to know what system they’re from.

I had a similar situation (wanted ship, zero notoriety); had to physically fly the wanted ship to the Interstellar Contacts. If your ship is completely locked out and you cannot fly it to the IC, as opposed to it just being hot, this seems like a bug. A ticket to FD Support will set you free.

Find a nearby anarchy station with a shipyard. Go there in your current ship. Summon your Asp. Go do something else for 10 minutes. Switch to your Asp. Pay your fine/bounty.

Yes, what Limoncello said.

Bounties are now attached to your ship, not to your CMDR. So you have to go to the Interstellar Factor in the ship that has the bounty on it. You can't pay it off while in another ship.

Since your Asp is stuck in a shipyard where you can't get it out, you'll have to transfer it to somewhere else, then fly it to the IF and pay the bounty.

If you can find an IF with a shipyard, then that makes it slightly easier.

Enjoy the new C&P! :p

Wow thanks people. It’s the first time I’ve had a run in with the C&P. What you’ve suggested has worked. I have my ship back!!! Thank you.
As a side note you’d think they’d make things like this either more clear to players I’d imagine someone who doesn’t use the forums or is not a member of a group of players would write the ship off and either sell it or leave it behind. All over a poxy 600 cr bounty. Nearly lost a 4mCr ship. Thanks again guys!!!

IMO this is by far the biggest continual failing of FD. Data communication either ingame or outgame has been fairly anemic or vague since forever.

Haha, if they charged for forum use instead of paint jobs, they'd make a fortune! Shouldn't have given them that idea....

If you look in the shipyard, there's a brand new section over your ship telling you what bounties it's accrued. I'd have thought that sufficient.

Obviously it wasn't or this thread wouldn't exist. I've seen this since 2014; FD has a years-long track record on provided data both ingame and about the game which is usually presented in the same manner as Arthur Dent's house demolition orders. This isn't just about one specific feature but a continual trend. This game is one of my long-term permanent drive residents but that doesn't change the fact that FD are frequently poor at getting information across clearly.

Wait so if you switch out of a ship in a station in which the ship has fines attached to it, you can no longer access the ship and must use the transfer function from another station?

But how did you switch out of the fine-attached ship in the first place? Doesn't landing at a station in which your ship has a bounty, cause you to dock in anonymous mode, thus preventing you from switching out of the ship in the first place due to having no shipyard access?

Yes but that doesn't tell you anything when you switch out of the ship that has bounties attached to it. It only tells you when you switch to the ship. Thus it doesn't assist in preventing the problem OP describes.

I think this is a very fair criticism of this issue, at a minimum. I think the C&P issues, in general, could use some work. As a system that I had originally thought was intended to hinder simple 'ganking' it seems to have had a much larger impact on everyone else.

Don't get me wrong, a challenging crime system is good, if it's implemented properly. It's even better when the risk AND reward are enhanced, to which right now, I personally don't see it.

When you add in some of these issues as the OP outlined, and don't provide sufficient info, in-game, as you alluded to, it's bound to cause frustrations.

I'm sure we'll see things tweaked. Even if it does take time, Fdev has addressed issues such as this. Given their feedback forum, I think 3.1 will bring a number of updates to C&P, at least I hope.

At this point, we really do need a sub-forum for people who do an illegal thing before reading up on the consequences and then get burned for it.

I'm all for complex systems, but I also think there should be more communication in the game. There are forum posts explaining C&P, and perhaps it's also in the manual now (yes, there is one), but making information available ingame so people don't keep running into traps would be highly appreciated. That shouldn't come in the shape of "press this button to do whatever" tutorials, but telling people what to do once their ship is taking hostage by a station would be a good start.
