Note to self: self nerf whenever the possibility of fighting Algomatic becomes a possibility.

You know that if AGLO is using poorly ballaced features to his advantage, it’s for the greater good. To make FD understand the issue.

If you use one, you’re a scrub. ;)

I'm a scrub that he's going to need help with if I ever get around to cruising Erevate:)

Vs hounds?

With your gunship? I mean one boost and I am like 5km away, cmn.

Of course. The gunship is very slow indeed. If you want to kill it, though, you have to stick around. When people run from me I chalk that up as a victory:)

As an aside, aren't you NaCL? I thought Niteks motto was "anything goes"

I am not NACL, I am part of OOF Waffe, Toni Curtis group, Nitek left the game almost a year ago.

Sure anything goes but you wont get the respect of beating a hull tank with missiles in the context of 1 v 1 thats all I am trying to say.

Nitek was awesome. Now there was a true villain with an awesome sense of humor to compliment his evil proclivities. I miss uncle Nitek, and even though he doesn't play anymore I still consider him a friend.

No offense meant to you, Algomatic, but if you've parsed my comments accurately you'll see that I'm beyond caring what anyone thinks of me, and I'm tired of handicapping myself against a bunch of total hypocrites. Agreed upon duels are different, of course. In the wild PvP is jungle rules.

I remember talking (I mean, actually 'talking', not text) to Nitek when he was taking his decision to turn to the dark side. That was before NaCL and before he was in SDC even. He was leaving Triadius at the time.

Yup. Why?
Unless you keep your distance, even two ECM will struggle to deal with staggered fire of packhounds. Now if packhounds fired their whole magazine at once and had a long-ish reload... then they'd be in a much better balance place. PDTs would have no hope of dealing with that many missiles at once, but the packhounds would be very vulnerable to ECM. Pretty much 1 ECM per packhound launcher would give you pretty good safety, even if the launchers were stagger fired.

Even if it would work, are you saying that you will be spamming me with hounds by holding the fire key and I will be chasing them trying to shoot them down instead of fighting you. Thats great balance.

PvP rule #1: There are no rules.
PvP rule #2: Conflict begets toxicity.
PvP rule #3: Disappointment with either first or second rule is futile.

Good point about range and stagger fire. Have to get crafty.

Back in one of the various abortive rebalance Betas I experimented with a buddy with juggling 4 x ECM and whether macro'd or manually gauged by attack frequency and distance ... either way ... we just couldn't get it to work. Basically the shieldless guy just ended up defending (with increasing desperation) against the inevitable, 1v1.

However, I do think that ECM could have much more of a place winged, if only hull tanking wasn't so crippled in so many other areas, i.e. that it was actually worth making a shieldless wing.

I agree with this. People can moan and whine about people using shield tanks, packhounds or whatever, saying it isn't skillful, but at the end of the day there are consequences to dying that some people just can't afford to have put upon them, even if they have enough. Most people don't do PvP for sport and use broken weapons just to survive against those who do.
Like how I use packhounds and fly a Cutter: My enjoyment comes from pitting my enemy against unwinnable odds. You can say what you want about gimbals, packhounds, 7,000MJ shields and reverse FA-off, you use whatever strategy that wins you the fight. Only things I agree that are bad are healing beams and reverb torps, to a degree.

I totally agree with this when it comes to wing fights in open or those nefarious few that get their thrills from praying on the lone whilst in wings. When it comes to 1v1 or organised wings I feel most people like to try and fly something different to the norm and do it more for the sport of fighting than outright killing, although it's still good to go to ship destruction or pod ejection or whatever it is.

I'm currently really enjoying flying my chief with OC plasmas and frags even tho I don't win many fights its just more fun.

Let me get this straight.

You agreed that a game activity = a war.

People can only moan and whine about things you use, because they are there and you enjoy them. Skill and some other things doesn't count.

Broken weapons in PVP shouldn't be balanced because people don't PVP use them.

You moaned and whined about something is bad, to a degree.

Can I understand your point as "Things favor me should stay as they are, things don't favor me should be nerfed, to a degree. Skill is irrelevant in PVP so balances should focus on how to make the unskilled win against the skilled."?
