Modes These arguments are tedious.

Oh, and when attack is not retailiated in needed(either PvE or PvE) type of actions, influence would bleed, and fortifying by facition of other type would only slow down the inevitable capture. That is what we are both missing.
Mercs presence would not let die out neglected by military factions easy. And PvE factions would be more influential and numerous.

Whatever, i do not think I can flesh out such concept on the fly.
But that is to illustrate that player control is not necessary bad, and that EvE was designed to be EvE.
Player control is only bad when it prohibits player options.

Neither of us can work out the concept, we'd need inside info we're not getting. FDev only can. But it's fun to think of ways it could possibly work.

And I seriously need to rest.
Then you seriously should go rest :)

Yeah, he tried another subject for a change. Just in one thread. I did as well some time. Perish the thought. <Nope>

Please post those youtubes again 90s. I don't think 37 times is quite enough. They do add such novelty to the discussion. And don't forget to mention you got all the proof, the evidences, you're 100% right, we should put on our big boi pants, we will see, etc etc etc. Because that never gets old.

They do add to the discussion. Because people are doing exactly what I am talking about.

No one is going to take the extra risk of being stopped. Ever. Not even me.

Nerf me please.

It's fairly obvious that this is a game balance issue, not a mode issue.

Unless the difference in risk between a player attack and an NPC attack is balanced out, it's never going to work.

Game balance around the modes is most definitely an issue. You get the same reward for different levels of risk.

I knew what the game design meant when I backed it - which is why I backed it.

I don't agree with the notion that existing game content should be restricted to one of the three game mode options to satisfy the play-style preference of those who, from what can be inferred from what one Dev has indicated, constitute a minority of the player-base.

Hence my participation in this type of thread....

The game you bought and the game we have now. HAS CHANGED. Expect the rules to change with it.

Its gonna happen. It happens with every other game out there. This one is not special.

Has it, with respect to the features that form the basis of this topic?

Player supported Factions have been in the game heading for three years now - they are still treated by the BGS as NPC factions and are subject to the effects of all players.

The three game modes still exist - and the actions of players in each game mode all affect the single shared galaxy state.

It would still be Elite Dangerous. Just with Meaningful PVP inside it.

Or we can keep griefing. Up to you guys I guess.

Everyone likes griefing right?

Using a combination of legal & illegal means I have went full darkside now that I've probed c&p for all its loopholes and finished my engineering. Now I'm on a mission to destroy as many players as possible regardless of ship type or rank as long as my interest holds. You guys like it? Ok, that's fantastic, have some more! :D

While my brain is still slightly awake, I had finaly understood certain detail in opinions I could not understand later.

If PvP is optional, what is the main part?:D

You talk like there is some.
And your opinion that it is... everything but PvP, is a bit delusional, to put it lightly.

Ability to attack another player is in game designs from day one. Interdictor works on other commanders as well. Nothing changes that. And adding more to PvP activity in ED should be of high priority, people are leaving because developers are fail to deliver.

CqC is not why PvP people come to MMO. Hardcore does not mean competitiveness. Similar decision in WoW to create competitive e-sport out of arena and all PvP there in the recent xpacs brought PvP admission levels to catastrophical record lows. E. g., similar results.

The main part (for those players that don't find direct PvP to be "fun") is, as you suggest, the rest of the game - including indirect PvP through the BGS, PowerPlay, CGs, etc.

The game treats players and NPCs alike when targeted by a player - that's not a PvP focus though, just equal treatment. The three game modes permit each player to choose whether they might possibly be shot at by another player on a session-by-session basis.

The game was not designed around direct PvP (i.e. it remains completely optional), much to the chagrin of some.

Doesnt mean it wont change in the future.

My future looks bright in this area. What was that company that signed on with Frontier again? And what did they do for Legends?

And then Squadrons. Man Sqaudrons is gonna be so cool. Especially since they wont make the same mistake with them as they did with powerplay right? RIGHT? Or do you think they will electrocute themselves on the same part of the fence twice?

And Engineers "A level playing field for all".

And sandro saying "Powerplay was supposed to be the outlet for consensual PVP" As in you knew what you were getting yourself into when you singed up for it. How many of us PVPers are here? And how many are using that for that purpose? When everyone is in the modes undermining? How many threads over the years have you seen about this issue that was stuffed into the Hotel?

Let me explain something to you here. If I can see all that, the modules not being used, ship builds are bare bones and so on.

Frontier Game Devs see it too. Just like that powerplay thread in 2016 when they recognized risk and reward. Just because they didnt change something then. Doesnt mean they wont at any time...

The LAST THING a dev wants is parts of their game not being used. Whens the last time you all seen a PVPer or BGSer use a wake scanner to hunt someone down? Or is that just for materials?...

You all use the " We are aware the pvp community is small". Like you're using it against this conversation. When in fact. It helps this side of the conversation. How long have people been asking for meaningful PVP?

More people are involved with the BGS now than Powerplay stuff. Especially the major player groups.

And most of them want the open private solo stuff killed off for squadrons.

This is about Balancing the game. And if it makes a few of you here unhappy about it. Then so be it.

If BALANCING the game when it comes to other players bothers you. Then maybe you're playing the wrong game.

We have about 8 more months. Start cleaning out your guys' room for the Hotel.

Ya'll have 8 months to engineer your ships and git gud. Or its going to be a slaughter.

Ya'll gonna stay on the forums? Is this going to to be the story the The Hare & the Tortoise, http://read.gov/aesop/025.html ?

All signs point to change Maynard. If you'll just listen to what they say.

I know you're a mod on their youtube channel, do you pay attention to the things they say or willingly turn a blind eye to them? I do remember you saying how much of a shocker the Engineers 3.0 was in their chat.

Dont be shocked when the rest of that happens too.

This is my thought on the idea.

Fine if ya'll like it this way.

Then this is what you get.

But they shouldnt complain about people posting gank videos if thats all there is.

Of course it doesn't mean that things won't change - just that they haven't yet and we don't know how they will change, if they change, because it has not yet been announced.

.... and a 10% stake does not give an entity control.

It was their choice to be there. They may, or may not, choose to be there in Open again. We'll see.

And with that, I've completed a line of Bob Maynard-bot bingo.

I'm sure forcing PvE players in their trade ships in open will decrease the number of gank videos because of reasons.

These gankers .... gotta love 'em. "I gank because of the forum posts, I got so sick of it, I decided to take it out on everything that moves" or "I has no content, so I am forced to gank your honour. Nothing I can do about it".
It's the amount of responsibility these fellers accept for their own actions that makes me trust them when they say: "If I had content, I wouldn't gank. Honest!".

Plus you read how much fun ganking is to them. Gankers will be gankers. It's a given.

... Furthermore, world PvP is a feature exclusive to a single game mode.

And, as long as it would have exclusive and valid only in Open progression and rewards, you have no moral right to disagree with their development and consequent existance. Specific for PvP and not remotely useful anywhere else modules, weapons, and mods, for instance.

I had just invented resilience from WoW....
Google it. It was the best system out there to separate PvP and PvE worlds to an extent.

As for PP and BGS, I am not sure what to do. I only hope that Q4 would make those questions obsolete.
