Cause you can block every fly coming your way?
This is the same as going Solo. You are not there to gamble anything.
CG in open, make sure you record.

You are right, lets add rewards to open while I block all nasty sealclubbers so I feel like being in Mobius while getting a free bonus.
Gentlemen Open is a friendly place.
Free for all.
PvP and PvE, no hassle no smoke. Don't make the mistake and assume forum here is all the wisdom.
If you are serious into this game, you can avoid death in Open. PvE in Open, contradicted by the ability/possibility to attack whom and when ever you want to.
Open, its neither a PvE heaven nor a cesspit full of griefers.
Know what mode you play and know how to play it.

And I just don't want stream snipers sniping noobs. Yet, here you are. And what's your defense? The game allows it.
So suck it up snowflake.
How about, some people don't want to PvP?
Some people don't want to PvP and were looking for a game where PvP was optional, so they bought into the idea of that.
Or do not want. Does not chamges the outcome.
Military members are no doubt are minority in this world, after all. And we had already discussed howPvP brain-deadsmilitary andPvE peasantscivilians can be made to coexist without anyone being at disadvantage. As long as PvE and PvP people cannot confornt or cannot confront directly against each other, pvp would remain optional. We had already discussed that, I belive.
For PvP rewards, as long as they are useless for PvE people, this should be fine for anyone. Check out resilience from WoW. This is not a perfect system, yet alternative they presented was worse.
Not only this- but a simple "rank up" doesn't quite satisfy most who want "power and control". Those who want to measure epeen are more concerned with being able to subjugate others and feel like a "conqueror", which CQC doesn't really give them. Hence all the calls for change in Open with PvP and so forth.
It's not going to happen. Was never a plan for ED, and will never be a plan for ED. As it stands you've got a lot of hungry lone wolves fighting each other because once they realized they were never getting their territorial battle game they fed on the populace, which gradually moved out of Open and into PG's/Solo over the years.
Although the movement to make ED like EO has existed since the Kickstarter- the urgency for such calls has only been made more visible over the last year or so because of more impactful changes being made to EVE Online, the introduction of F2P accounts, skill import microtransactions, and a lot of changes which have made the bittervets who've held onto their little blue bubbles dissatisfied with the game. Now they're looking to invade ED in an attempt to make it just like EO originally was.
On the first point- I completely agree, on the basis that "spaceship flying" in itself is somewhat niche. Which is why EVE became popular- it doesn't require any knowledge to fly one, just point and click in space and voila, you move from point A to point B. The only thing required is a bit of knowledge in gun trajectories, etc. and how to evade/mitigate damage.
On the second... the argument could also be made as to why PvP servers were removed- because of lack of participation. That's why. If they were "popular" then the PvE servers would have otherwise been removed in favor of PvP servers. That's not what happened though, is it?
No, this dispute was pure nonsence from the start. Let's not argue with that at least.
Yet even this knowledge would not translate into anything. No, this dispute was pure nonsence from the start. Let's not argue with that at least.
And that leaves what to do with influence still.
Admitted I am not following 48 pages here.
But if we are talking solo vs private vs open here, anyway anyhow somehow, which we did for ages by now(LOL), solo - its my take on things anyway, should be kept alone sealed up. Frontier enhancing solo player experience, translating into a game where multiplayer add to the solo player game is fine.
Reverse this and allow solos to mess with a multiplayer game, deliberately allowing crossplay leads to cheating players out of their wits.
While there are many new PvE experiences waiting in Battle for Azeroth, there are also some new PvP updates for players to look forward to.
In a new Battleground, Seething Shore, players of the Horde and Alliance will descend upon Silithus to battle over the Azerite bubbling to the surface. This Battleground will offer dynamic control point gameplay similar to Arathi Basin, but with new control points appearing periodically as resources are depleted. This new Battleground will require coordination as you and your team work to overcome the opposing faction. Since this Battleground actually serves to tell part of the story that leads to the events of Battle for Azeroth, we also plan to offer a preview of the Seething Shore during patch 7.3.5 as we continue to build upon the conflict between the Horde and the Alliance for the coming expansion.
Beyond instanced PvP, we’re also reexamining how PvP plays out in the outdoor world. The PvP system hasn’t fundamentally changed since the launch of World of Warcraft; however, so many other systems that shape the world, ranging from flying mounts to cross-realm zones, have changed the way players interact. We’ve heard feedback lamenting the decline of world PvP over the years. Meanwhile, there are players on PvP servers who don’t necessarily enjoy that gameplay, but also don’t want to switch servers and leave their friends behind. Looking ahead to Battle for Azeroth, this feels like a great opportunity to update the PvP system to better reflect the state of the game world today.
The core of our plan lies in bringing all servers together under a single PvP ruleset. Players will ultimately be able to choose on an individual basis whether they want to opt in to PvP gameplay or not. While in a capital city, you’ll be able to opt into world PvP, and you will venture out into a PvP-enabled version of the world, populated by other players who have also opted in to PvP gameplay. This also provides a universal foundation upon which we can build new world PvP systems that previously would have inherently excluded everyone playing on a PvE realm.
For those who do opt in to the PvP experience, there will be some slight bonuses such as extra experience gain or reputation gain to offset the additional risk. The nature and magnitude of these bonuses will undergo extensive tuning, with the goal of not making anyone feel obligated to participate in PvP if they dislike that gameplay, while counterbalancing the loss in efficiency for those who do.

Why should you play a role in Their game?

Why should you play a role in Their game?
Because you impact their game as much as they do yours.
It works both ways. Which was a selling point for the game.

You can't touch solos.
I do not want to play SP. Not the expirience I want to gain.
Solo became performance meta for me as well as for any other, and I do not like it one bit.
I want a balanced choice. Nothing else.
By the way, Fdev surely can bring up PvP rebuys per income in open, excluding old players/deaths with crimes off. And make that a figure.
Absolute.
Where does it lead us?
No one is doing anything with solos.
Everyone who bought Elite Dangerous is playing the same game no matter the mode... that is how Fdev designed it and even marketed it. No matter the mode they are playing the same story, the same BGS, the same EVERYTHING as you are... Solo, PG's, Open... all affecting each other and being affected by each other. There is only one BGS... How is this hard to understand? You bought a game that clearly stated you can play by yourself, with friends, or with other commanders...
You can.. you can touch solos as much as solos can touch you.
