A mistake, any game mechanic that pits players against each other in anyway shouldn't be able to allow players to go unchecked which solo and pg do. It's unfortunate they couldn't do a offline mode so people who play multiplayer and those who play solo aren't constantly at odds with each other over the direction of the game.
There is no (effective) direct way in the BGS to beat an opponent or stop them from doing anything. Imagine for a moment the BGS was Open only:
You can try to blockade a system, but you'd just be wasting your time. You may catch one or two, but if the opponent gets a few ships through, you've lost. A CMDR could fly to any station in the system, pick up delivery only missions, and never return to the source system until he picks up more missions the next day, or hours later.
Meanwhile, any time waiting for, interdicting and fighting targets, your opponents are dropping bounties, bonds, explo, missions, etc.
Try to so this against a large player group that are all friends together, and you're not. If we're out in force, you just won't instance with us.
The BGS is transaction based. The one who puts in the transactions wins. The one who waits in super cruise or around a station to stop the transaction from happening, loses.
By all means, for fun and role play, have some PvP fun. We often do during BGS battles. But with the full understanding that it is the fun break, in between the work to put in the transactions.
All modes
are equal, when it comes to the BGS
