Battlefield V

The Battlefield V realease trailer is out.

There's a woman in it, and the official EA forums have become the saltiest place on the internet.

I'll probably buy it.

Not sure about this tactical "back to the roots" WW2 EA, it looks more like Mad Max/steampunk/captain america... whatever. Frostbite and what DICE is able to create with it is amazing visually but personally I will stick to modded Arma 2/3 for my WW2 fix tho.

For those more interested some info:

If they did this and only this I would then give EA some cash again.

Yea, Titan mode was a genius idea that was completely different from many other FPS capture the flag modes because you had actual objectives that mattered.

I would pay for a mod to add such a game mode to Arma 3.

Right...another batch of DLC's and a subpar experience.
As noted above, there is no season pass. All players will get all DLCs. As for "subpar experience", that's entirely subjective. The February patch for BF1, which included a proper anti-cheat update (however late that might be perceived as), cleaned the game up. It's a very good FPS now (I have about 800 hours according to Origin).

I want a remake of BF2142 damnit.
Me too. I want mechs!

You know what. In the 700 hours + I played of bf1 I can count on one hand give or take a finger the cheaters I came across. Some i missed granted might have been subtle but they wouldn't have affected the game much.

Should be interesting though to see if DICE will apply the lessons learnt from BF1. At the very least the removal of the DLC prem pass is an excellent lesson learnt.

BF2020 is looking good for a return to futuristic setting maybe :)

The cheats were rampant in Asia. With the February patch, my KDR went from 1:1 to 2:1. I didn't get that much better overnight, although the 144Hz monitor I got around the same time definitely helped.

I don't think a woman is the main source of outrage. The trailer itself is just nonsense. Call of duty grade eye popping action.
The trailer doesn't make much sense. Jack Frags has a good breakdown of the video and what it's actually showing. There's a lot of major changes that are only minimally reflected in the video.

As for whether or not the woman is the main source of the outrage, I'd refer you to the official EA Battlefield forums. "SJW" is in every second BF:V post right now.

People gonna hate and all that.

For myself, I think it's obviously too early to be making sweeping statements about the final game and it's features. There are a lot of good ideas though which might properly shake up the series. It's nice that they are properly rewarding squad play even if it is a little CoD-a-like.

Westie another decent youtuber did a good explanation video yesterday. Worth a Google if you are interested.

I'm gonna pass this one. I'd need another rig and I wasn't that blown away of them handling crash issues in BF1. There seem to be a couple interesting mechanics in. Like a couple others already expressed: I'd like futuristic Battlefield. Tho I gotta say I immensely enjoyed operation mode in the alpine maps.

Funnily enough, I never enjoyed operations - it seemed to exacerbate the balance issues in the maps.

I don't think you'll necessarily have to upgrade - it's not a new engine (although there will obviously be tweaks) and I can get BF1 running on a laptop with a GTX1050 2GB and a 7300HQ (i.e. below minimum specs) at 1080p/60. If your rig can run BF1, it should be able to handle BFV, IMO.

Am I the only one who was absolutely apalled by the trailer?

I mean, what the hell IS that? B1 was, despite its flaws, really cool both the trailer and the actual feel of the game. Realistic, hah, not even slightly, but really cool and kind of... immersive (yes, I apologize)
And I am probably one of the few people who actually like playing Battlefront 2.

But this thing... what is that thing?

I had random gfx driver crashes or whatsitwas - i was running slightly below CPU req I think and my ram really doesn't cut it anymore. That is the worst bottleneck. My stuff is old.

The ops I dint mind because once you got to play each side and blasting through as attacker was rare sense of pride and accomplishment in the alps.

I think it was a Bren carrier?

The gulf between the trailer and what the DICE employees prominent Youtubers are talking about is vast - it looks like the bastard child of Fortnite and CoD in the trailer, but from what I've seen it's going to be a squad-based, highly tactical shooter.

My guess is that we can (and should!) expect something between the two. EA/DICE don't ever go to the extreme with the mechanics - it's always an iteration.

The user.cfg in the root of the BF1 folder is your friend - hard limit the refresh to the monitor, define the number of threads to be one less than the number of physical cores+threads and limit the number of pre-rendered frames to 2. I'll share my laptop config with you if you like.

On the face of it I thought the trailer wasn't great either. But I've watched a few of prominent youtubers like jackfrags and westie adding their insider knowledge and it's really helped.

For what it's worth and I can't really explain it but I get the feeling they are setting this in an "alternate history of ww2". I suppose it's because the usual tropes surrounding games of ww2 just don't seem to be coming through for me in the trailer.
