IGN give 4.8/10

Do you sit at home and do your work at the weekend through? I doubt anyone who works for a gaming company promoting a project play it a large amount of time outside of work.
Don't know why you're asking me, I was simply elaborating / clarifying on what I thought CMDR Karrde Sun was saying.

P.S: Also, yes I do sit at home and work on weekends from time to time. :p

Sometimes it can be hard to find genuine concerns amongst all the constant background whining.

Where is the whining, though? I see lots of people that want to like the game but have issues with some of the design choices. It might come off as whining, but it's unfair to dismiss their opinions as just pointless whining.

Not sure what IGN was expecting, but after taking this game for a test drive last night, I couldn't put it down and ended up playing all night. Wife pulled me away from it this morning. [knocked out]

Definitely has the "just one more turn" compulsion for me. Even now I'm thinking about what I want to work on next in it.

Now a days game "news outlets" have only one goal in mind. ... Revenue..

Those big sites only write what their readers want to read.

If you want constructive reviews, go to the somewhat smaller reviewers. Like Windows Central (don't that let the name fool you, they are citric towards Microsoft aswell when they need to)

Anyone who pops across to the dinosaur forum to moan about their spaceship is wasting everyone's time.

So now the unhappy Elite Dangerous players are going to use this as a chance to trash Frontier. lol

Blame the moderator who closed the discussion thread in the Elite forums, and linked to this thread.

I didn't evne know this forum existed till then.

Was it TJ?...

I feel like the game is missing a lot and actually agree that the rating would probably be closer to mid range as an OK or slightly above average game in its current state. But I also disagree with that review. Mostly because it is just someone pointing out what is in the game then moaning they find it boring, which is more personal than critical. Reviewers will always have their biases and that's one of the reasons people gravitate to certain reviewers, but they can at least 'try' to make an objective review.

It should have been a 7.0 at least. It could use a patch update and a later price discount, but is in no way a bad fail. I think the reviewer was the same biased nincompoop who panned ED about a year ago. While IGN did a lot a pre-release positive hype coverage of JWE by their other staff, I'd bet this guy was waiting his turn salivating and ready to skewer another Frontier game upon release.

Mack of "WAB" seemed to enjoy it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaqihsgCZ8o

in the same boat. This game very much has the 'one more turn' hook present in the same way great games of the past did.
Sorry Frontier, I haven't been in Elite for the past two days because of this game.
I was just able to complete the third mission and log out on the second island when a storm hit and I suffered a power outage. 90 minutes later, my wife pointed out that I was still playing.

www.trustedreviews.com have given the game 4 out of 5
