Krait to rival Python?

If FD are canny it'll be basically the same as the cobra MK4.
That'll stop all the late adopters winging about not having one!

...and only available via a code in JWE.

I'm quite surprised that people are still under the impression that the new Krait will be a "fighty sidewinder".

I know the stuff about it having an SLF is just speculation based on the apparent presence of an SLF launch bay but you've only got to look at the size of the cockpit to see that it ain't no sidey-like.

Looks like it's going to be a bit smaller than a Python, to me, but I'm hoping it'll be, as GTwannabe said, something of an "Alliance Gunship".
Personally, I'm hoping that'll be achieved by making is something of a bigger, tougher, more fighty version of the Keelback which'll mean it's okayish at a lot of things and have the ability to launch an SLF.

I think it will be a SLF capable small python type of ship.

I hope it has loads of optional slots, and at least four utilities.

It'll probly have five slots and three utils or something though...

I get the feeling it’s going to have a similar internal layout as the Clipper.

Really, with the arrival of the Chief (and very soon the Challenger) the Clipper is getting left well behind, I do hope it gets a major buff to its shields to rival its other imperial brethren.

With what they've said of it being tougher and more maneuverable than the Chieftain, I keep thinking of an Asp Scout. Better hardness, handling & PD than other ships in its class (2small 2medium) that make it seem like an obvious winner, but aren't enough to account for the speed of its peers.

That is the Challenger.

What we know about the Krait is, it's slightly smaller than a python, it might have an SLF bay, and it has at least 3 large hardpoints on top. That's about it.

Oh my. Put this on your resume if you ever apply at a rest home. You drew me from confusion quite skillfully.

I hope so, another medium ship with decent cargo space ( over 180 tons ) is desperately needed.

The Krait, being a combat vessel, is not going to compete with the Python as the king of the medium cargo ships.
I do not expect FDev to completely change the character of the Krait.

The Krait also used to be a small ship though didn’t it? I remember reading that the AspX used to be a pretty nifty combat ship in previous games...not so much these days.

Who knows what they’ll do...

The Asp in the old games is a totally different design I believe, not even called Explorer.

I'm guessing some day I'll just equip one on a whim then wonder why the hell I never tried it before.
They're fun to fly and a decent NPC pilot is pretty effective at turning it into an extra huge hardpoint.
The pay scale and permadeath mechanics on the other hand are obnoxiously less fun.

I kind of expect not but I wouldn't bet on it. They did the courier.
