So... Where's that Pachy headbutt?

I've started keeping a population of Pachycephalosaurus in most parks as I try to grind out the memos. I've always loved these little guys since Warpath and stuff. Though I've noticed something odd; Has anyone seen them actually doing their signature headbutt in game?

I mean, they can't defend themselves (For some reason) and don't use it on predators. They also don't... Seem to headbutt each other? Despite what the trailer showed? It's very disappointing, I was hoping to see some different interactions then wandering, eating, socializing and drinking from the herbivores and Pachy seemed perfect for that. However they seem to act just like any other herbivore.

Do I need to overpopulate them so they fight like the Anky-type dinosaurs? If so that's kinda also disappointing.

Just seeing if anyone's had different experience with the chrome domes.

Edit: I found out that yes, it's something that happens when you overpopulate them, so they'll battle eachother only when overpopulated, which naturally costs them health. Kinda sad that it's not a passive behavior.

Trikes also don't headbutt. Quite lame.

Don't see why trikes would do that, if anything they'd fight like rutting male deer do as a show of strength and superiority. Deer do not butt heads but rather lock horns and push each other around or in rare cases try to gore each other when the competition doesn't give up or back down.

Yeah I didn't mean the Pachy headbutt, but what you describe. The not so serious infighting between them for dominance. What they did in JPOG.

Hiya, the signature headbutt is most definitely in the game! Try putting more than the desired maximum for their social group in an enclosure...

Enjoy!

Hey! Do you know how to unlock memos? I only have one between Claire and Ian.

Because this fighting between Pachy or Trikes is a normal thing animals do, you shouldn't be forced to treat your animals wrong if you want to see normal behaviour.
Both Animations should occur now and then in a normal sized herd.

um, no. despite what you might have seen on TV, even animals like elk and big horned sheep don't do that all the time. That kind of behavior usually only occurs when the animals are stressed, or during rutting season. And it is usually limited to the males, which we don't have in game.

Under normal circumstances, these animals probably would avoid damaging each other as much as possible. I'm sure you saw what the Pachy did to the Hunter's jeep in LW, when these things headbutt they mean business.

You need to max your 'Science', 'Security' and 'Entertainment' on each island I think. Every time you max one on an island you get one memo. So with 5 islands 3 each that's 15 memos.

I never said it is something that happens frequently but that it is a normal behaviour among those animals. You're right about the males, I haven't thought about that since in the movie canon they had both and in JPOG the females did this to determine which is the leader of the herd.

I'm not sure about that. In JW one gets corrected that Blue is a female and the even better hint: Claire tells Simon that IRex is a female. Simon would have known if they would still only breed females.

Dominance behaviour needed

Agreed we need to see dominance behaviour like headbutting and rutting. it was in the trailer so i guess there is a plan to add it with a patch let's give frontier credit they had a short development time. i think they intend to add the things seen in trailers like sleeping and pack behaviour in patches) Frontier if you could confirm or deny i'd be appriciative

Headbutting is in the game like in the trailer, you just need to release more then they feel comfortable with

Here you go, it's definitely in the game. As Imperios and Bo said, you need to release more Pachys into the enclosure to get into the social rating into the red again. Then the Pachys will start to fight among themselves. It would be cool to see it occasionally happen among happy Pachy populations, too.
